    Wives to Husbands working FIFO

I have accepted a job in WA working FIFO. My wife and I both know that working FIFO will be difficult but we are certainly not the first couple to choose to do it. Our biggest concerns are its moving to a new country, she'll be alone a lot and wont initially have many friends. I think that if she were to get casual work, we could attend expat meets so she can get to make friends in similar situations. It would be great to hear from the wives that have already done it and learn how they coped/are coping. Maybe there's other issues we hadn't considered? We are a 20 something couple with no kids. I understand that there guys who are husbands to wives working FIFO but I would like to hear it from a woman's perspective. It would be great to hear from you
  2. Could anyone help on this one - may be a silly question though! Husband hopes to travel out on a 457 visa mid June, but myself (the wife) and daughter don't plan to travel out until end July to complete arrangements here for my own job, renting out house, finishing school term etc... The question is - we are allowed to travel out separately on a temporary business sponsored visa 457? Thanks all!

    Spouse vis/ husbands passport

Hi, just compiling my spouses visa. Hubby was granted citizen by descent in Oct he hasn't yet got his Oz passport, as we have no panel docs near us I thought we could go to London get his passport and do our meds at the same time. But will he need to have his Oz passport before we file the app? Thanks
  6. My ex husband is staying in England and myself my partner and my children are emigrating to Australia later this year. I need permissin for my two youngest boys to emigrate from their father as they are under 16. He has already said that he is happy for them to go. Is there a special form that needs signing or does he just need to write a letter and sign it in front of a solicitor to state that this is so. Trace
  7. Hi all, I am a newbeee!!! We are just starting out on the long process of migrating to Perth, Western Australia (we hope) and are looking for advise, WARNING we really have no clue where to start, so please bare with me; My husband is an electrician and has had is own busines for just over 10 years I am a hairdresser qualified for 10 years, but have not worked in a salon for abour 4 years now, We have been looking into the visa situation and I have got to say, it looks quite complicated for my husband to do electrics out in oz (with regards to skills assessment prior to being able to even apply for a visa, then having all the re training etc before being able to get a job) so Im wondering if it would be easier to try on my Hairdressing for a visa instead of going through all of the skills assessments for him..but as I say, we really have no clue, so any advise would be most appreciated!! thankyoou in advance Laura

Could anyone advise me of the process regarding emigrating to Oz and getting permission from an ex husband to agree!! My partner has been offered a job in Adelaide but after initially saying he would not stop us my ex has now said that he needs to sign something and has not yet agreed to do that. If it goes to court any idea on cost? and general process, do they ever say NO!!!! Help:arghh:

Just had to get out his old passport to get some details about the old visa, and just looking at it and the words "holder permitted to remain in Australia Indefinatly" just make me feel sick!!!! Talk about irony!
