  1. Hi all, Our Reccie is 35 more sleeps away and I am looking round all the car hire firms. We are 2 + 2 so are looking at an INTERMEDIATE (Toyota Corolla or similar) and can't decide if to shell out an extra $220 for the extra insurance that cuts the collision damage excess down from $3000 to $200 if you get the third parties details. both me and hubby are confident drivers but is it worth risking $3000 for the sake of what would be $420 Or is their a way round this some how. ( note to self.... look on Martin Lewis's website after finishing this post) what has everyone else done. look forward to hearing from you :goofy:

    Hiring a Car

Hi GuyPlease help, can anybody reccomend to me a reasonable car hire company, as i would like to hire a vehicle for approx 3 weeks in June of next year. I am heading to melbourne with my family of four so would be looking for a reasonably sized vehicle. All replies and advice welcome:wideeyed:
  3. Hi, My wife and I are arriving in Melbourne on the 25th Oct. We were thinking about hiring white goods and TV & DVD player initially and then buying our own bit by bit. Can anyone advise on a. if this is a good idea b. the likely costs c. where is the best place to hire from Cheers J
  4. We are hiring a 6 berth campervan (family of 4) for our reccie in April (Easter), to travel from Sydney to Brisbane over 10 days (first 4 days of hol are in Melbourne). Wanted to see the real Oz & get a feel for cooking for ourselves, prices of food etc, but have a few questions about the more mundane side of camping. So if anyone with previous experience can answer some/all of them it would be appreciated! 1. Do we really need to prebook campsites? Am concerned with us travelling right over the Easter break that we won't get in anywhere. 2. Do we really need to be on a campsite every night? (with planning to drive most of day it should charge up 2nd battery enough to last overnight(?) - so main reason for stopping on site is to fill up/empty water, and use facilities for decent shower)? 3. If not on a campsite where are we allowed to park up? (or where are we NOT allowed to park?) Can anyone recommend any free sites en route? (I read on another thread that councils have free sites - how do I find out about these?) 4. How long on average would the water tank last? (ours will be approx 90L) 5. how often does waste water need emptying? (approx150L) and is this straight forward? 6.how long does a gas cylinder last? If anyone has any additional hints & tips, or links to useful websites it would be very gratefully received! Thanks Kath

  6. Although my husband has 10 years experience and was a fully licenced plumber/gas fitter in the UK, on arriving in queensland we have found like many others, he can only have his provisional plumbing licence here, he is now looking for work either on the Gold Coast or Brisbane preferably new build, does anyone know anyone that is looking to hire or willing to give him a start. Thanks in advance Lesley
