    Super Hero Worship

Filipino designer Herbert Chavez has taken his love for Superman up, up and away. Chavez has spent more than a decade undergoing a series of cosmetic procedures, from a nose job to bleaching his skin, in order to look like the Man of Steel. Years ago, he looked like an average brown-skinned Filipino. Post-surgery, he is whiter, his nose is pointier and his thighs are slimmer. He had his cheeks, lips, chin and thighs operated on and he took glutathione injections to whiten his skin. Next he is planning an operation that will give him a more muscular abdomen. He is also looking at specialised surgery in Japan that will insert metal in his legs to give him more height. Chavez said his love for Superman began when he was a kid and he saw the superhero lifting a pack of cars on the big screen. Chavez has collected bits and pieces of Superman memorabilia ever since and has amassed a huge collection through the years. His house is packed with Superman plastic cups, bed spreads, action figures and life-size statues of the superhero displayed around his home. Local villagers said they like the "Filipino Superman" because he entertains the children while teaching them good moral values. Just like Clark Kent's dual persona, Chavez has a day job working as a dress designer and pageant trainer and his Superman alter ego comes to life after work. His expertise with fabric has enabled him to design his own set of Superman costumes patterned after those on the big screen. But, unlike Superman, Chavez said he does not possess any special powers. My New Hero....

Honestly......the world needs more people like this guy. Here's a sneak peak; "An Austrian atheist has won the right to be shown on his driving-licence photo wearing a pasta strainer as "religious headgear"" http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-14135523

  5. I think these boy's are fantastic and a breath of fresh air to the sometimes stuffy Royals. PRINCES William and Harry told how they were "humbled" by the heroism of our troops - as they joined thousands in a spectacular salute to them yesterday. The young Royals - both serving Army officers - begged Britain to openly show its gratitude for the selfless courage of Our Boys. And they declared in a message to crowds thronging London's streets: "They need to know just how grateful we are for the job which they do on our behalf so uncomplainingly and so well." http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/campaigns/our_boys/1137869/Princes-William-and-Harry-Tribute-to-hero-troops-City-Salute.html

  7. Johnson Beharry, Victoria Cross hero, refuses to shake Gordon Brown's hand - Telegraph I remember saying in a previous post about Brown and how dis- interested he was at the ceremony. Tom Daley a British Hero.

I maybe slightly bias as he is a relative of mine but this boy wonder is an inspiration for children and adults alike. He trains for many hours everyday and is completely dedicated to his sport, not only this but he is also a lovely person. Good luck Tom and team GB for 2012.:jiggy: Bex.x

    WHat a day - Im a hero.

Well would you believe it. I turn on my computer and am reading a PM on Poms In Oz, and drinking my second alcoholic drink and believe me when I say I get drunk smelling wine gums, when my daughter shouts for me to look out iof the window of my house. I live on a private estate of 11 houses. On looking out of the window I see a young man covered in blood from head to toe lying on the ground. Well, being a really tough guy Im out in the street and dealing with a man who has been stabbed 8 times in the head and neck. I got him in the recovery position and he nearly died on me. Took an absolute age for the ambilance to turn up. what a start to the week end, the guy will live, close but he will live and for me............more flaming paperwork:huh:
