Samuel Wilson posted a topic in Careers and VacanciesHello, Thank you very much for taking the time to read my thread. I have just joined this site and I am very happy to see all the support people are being given, so I signed up in the hope you can also help me. My name is Samuel-James Wilson. I am 25 from North Yorkshire U.K. On the 4th September I will land in Brisbane to being a 12 month working visa. I am a fully qualified Bricklayer, achieving NVQ Level 2&3 including a Distinction and Merit during my three years at college. I have also just finished a prestigious Scholarship with The Prince's Foundation here in the UK to which I got my Heritage Brickwork NVQ 3. This year I was shortlisted for 'Tradesman Of The Year' and also 'Young Builder Of The Year' I am very passionate about my work which you will soon find clear if you meet me. Heritage Brickwork is my passion and I would very much like to work within this sector but I realise how rare it is in OZ so I am more than happy to turn my hand to any Bricklaying work for the moment. I am moving to Windsor on my arrival and I don't have a vehicle straight away as I will need to earn the money to do this. Any help anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated. Thank you all for your time. Samuel-James Wilson
Hi all, We moved over here from Littlehampton, West Sussex about 12 weeks ago now, and are currently staying with my Aunty until we get ourselves sorted. I have got a job, our daughter who is 8 is in school and my wife is currently doing a medical receptionist course. We were wondering if there are any fellow expats living in the Browns Plains area? Cheers
Another thread got me thinking about this, some of us have maybe a 'family' member (*no matter how far removed) who was/is famous/infamous, or had an experience others will know about. No matter how hard I look I can't find any lineage to royalty, millionaires, or even the infamous, my only claim to fame is that my great great aunt, (may have been great, great, great aunt) was on the Titanic when it went down, and she SURVIVED,:notworthy:. So thats it really, nothing spectacular but interesting nonetheless, so what if any 'links' family wise do you have to someone/something we may have heard about? Serious, funny, whatever, If anyone mentions Big Brother/X Factor I will close this thread,:biglaugh::biglaugh::policeman: Cheers Tone.
Hi all, My husband and I are thinking about moving to Australia and I wonder if anyone can give me some advice? I work in the museum/heritage sector and my husband works in publishing - not highly paid jobs in the UK so I am not expecting much better in Oz! We are currently focussing our search on Sydney and Melbourne as we already know some people in both cities, but I am a bit concerned by what I have heard about rental prices being the highest in the country (we're not planning to buy at the moment). Does anyone living in these cities work in an arts-related profession? How do you find your general standard of living there? Any advice much appreciated, Kelly
