My Husband and I would like to move to Australia, we have 3 children ranging from 14yrs old to 1yr. My Husband is a qualified electrician and I am a magazine editor, we are currently both self-employed. Realistically I can continue to be the editor of my magazine for 6-12 months from overseas, therefore my income can still continue during that time. I am puzzled as to the best way to come over to Australia, my Husband would be the one that could get us the points - Is it best for him to get a job before we go? How do we go about looking for a job for him? I understand that he would be an electricians mate until he got an Electricians Licence in OZ. Does anyone know if I would be allowed to continue running my business in the UK whilst gradually setting up the same business in OZ? I have read so many different sites, all giving me slightly different advice, so now I am confused. I would love to hear from anyone who can give us some advice, in particular a sparky who has a similar family set up as ours and how they made the move. Thanks.
Hi everyone I am looking for some help. Sorry if I am posting this in the wrong place (really dont know what I'm doing!!!) We are looking at moving to Sydney (myself, husband, and 2 boys aged 5 and 9 months) I lived there for 3 years about 28 years ago with my mum and dad. My sister and dad still live there, my sister is an australian citizen. My husband and I both work in the travel industry, so are not on the skilled list. Not really sure where to start with what visa we could get. And don't know what type we could get!!! Where do you start??????
....and what a week, viewing schools, houses etc. Found a rental & been accepted. Decided we need to pay for private education as the local state high schools suck! Still in holiday let til 19th & hoping our furniture arrives & clears customs without too much hassle! What else do we still need to do? Have Medicare & TFN to do, what about ambulance cover - is that needed? Have decided on Springfield Lakes, as like the new houses & area there, so anyone want to meet a newbie in a couple of weeks I'll be up for it? Kath & Hans
