  1. Can anyone recommend a good hairdressing salon? I have been here since 1st March and the time has come to experience my first aussie haircut . I have a Cert III in Hairdressing (Oz qualification) now. Was wondering if anyone has done a skills assessment recently?? I'm unsure what documents I need, do I need to supply ALL of my payslips or just an example from employers to prove full time employment?? Any help would be so much appreciated! Very stressful!!

  5. Hi all, I am looking to go out to Australia on a 489 State sponsor visa for Hairdressing CSOL. I have already done lot's of research but there are a few things I am unsure of. I would be so grateful if someone could please help me. What can you use as proof of your work experience? Can you use bank statements or does it have to be P60 and pay slips? Last year I worked self employed (in salon) can I count that as work experience? Do you need a certain amount of money in the bank to show you can support yourself whilst out in Australia to be accepted for 489? Many thanks, Sarah

    Hairdressing thread

I have noticed other threads with jobs/careers, so i thought what about starting a hairdressing thread. I'm sure there are plenty of hairdressers hoping to go to Oz or already there, so we can be a network of support, especially with the 'credit crunch' at the moment, and help and support each other in this stressful time. My name is Tania and i have been an hairdresser since 1983, i have worked for myself for biggest part of these years. I have a state sponsorship to Victoria and have applied for a 176 visa. It would be good if there are hairdressers out in Oz to say if they work in a salon or are freelance, and what is it like working out in Oz, i'm sure any information would be highly appreciated by myself and fellow hairdressers. Thanks Tania XX:wubclub:

  8. Can anybody help me please. I am 31 and next year will be qualified to VRQ level 3 in Hairdressing, my husband is 41 and will be qualified in diploma level 3? as a Chef. We currently live in the UK. I would really love to emigrate to Australia, preferably Perth to be nearer my Brother who lives in Karratha. I have looked into different visa's and the only one I/we fall under is sponsorship. I've read we both need to work in our profession for at least 1 year before we can apply for visa's? Can anyone help me with information on where to start? Companies that sponsor you? Are family included on a sponsored visa? Do I need a set amount of money to come over with? Any information would be greatly recieved. Thank you Vikkey x

    Hairdresser

Hi everyone, I'm new to PIO and just looking for some guidance. I am a 22 year old Hairdresser (qualified for 3 years) and I am looking into the pospect of living and working in OZ. I have no family over in OZ and I have already been over on a working holiday visa. I have been informed that the only other way is either State Sponsorship or Independent Skilled Application...... is this correct? If so... could someone tell me what state would be willing to sponsor Hairdressers? if any. I have been told I would be unable to obtain a positive skills assessment aswell due to the fact I have been an Maternity leave over the past 7 months after having a baby (I have been informed I must be in full time employment over the last 12 months).... is this correct!? Any help would be greatly appreciated Jenna Graham
  14. Is TRA the assessing authority for hairdressing? What are the requirements to pass? If an AQF certificate 3 is necessary do I need to go to Australia to obtain it? How many years of experience is needed? Is that in addition to the certificate and does that include years spent in school?

  22. Hi im an English bricklayer with ten years experience, my girlfriend is a hairdresser we are desperate to move to Oz as the standard of living is just slipping downhill as every week passes in England, its really just an enquiry into job availability and wages in both our trades in either NSW or Perth anywhere really, i travelled around Australia and loved it all so really no preference any information would be gratefully recieved, thanks a lot, Rob
  23. Hi PIO's Just looked at the SA SMP Am i right in saying that it is only WA that havent got the trade on its SMP ? If this is right I find it absolutely disgusting that WA could not get the trade on its SMP. Those of us who find ourselves in Cat 4 as a result of this have been badly let down. I urge WA to push DIAC strongly to have their SMP amended so that Hairdressers that they already sponsored should be allowed on the SMP. Shane
  24. hi guys, i applied for general skilled migration with my hairdressing trade, thankfully before it got took off the SOL list, now i think i have another 2year wait before i get my visa processed, i applied in March 2009. my question is that i am finding it difficult to get full time hairdressing work, most jobs are casual or part-time. i am thinking of going mobile with my hairdressing and also looking for another job too. will this afffect my visa application when it is being processed if i am working self-employed as a hairdresser and also doing a different job? thank you in advance for Any advice offered.
