Hi all, So we have been searching round the various suburbs of Canberra trying to figure out where to live once we come over in Sep11. A lot has to do with price we have decided as coming from a 3 bed detached house in what we would call a nice part of North West England (backing on to a country park) we thought we would have our pick but not so, Canberra is as you will all of course be aware a tad expensive So it seems firstly a toss up between Tuggeranong and Gungahlin with at present the later coming out on top again based on schools (High School) and price. My question to you is does anyone have any more detail or can pint me towards sites in relation to places such as Amaroo, Ngunnawal, Nicholls, Forde, Bonner? I appreciate it is all in th eye and mind of the beholder and we will obviously do the drive round once we are there bt it would be nice to have some idea before hand, so thanks in advance all
  2. Hi there, We’re applying State Sponsorship for ACT in the next couple of weeks (IELT & VETASSESS ok) - 3 children under 7 & a Jack Russell. Doing the 2 page essay at the mo on why Canberra, done lots of research on suburbs my head is spinning but have a few q’s for anyone out there on Gungahlin. We need to rent a 3 bed (pref. 4) and cannot afford more than 550$ p/m I’ve researched and it seems subs in this area would fit ok.. question is what is the nicest suburb in Gungahlin ? or can you suggest somewhere else in outskirts of city with good primary school? Thanks a lot !
  3. Hi! We are here in Gungahlin area and looking for a good school for my two children. My eldest is 16 years old going to 17 this coming 21 Aug and my youngest is 14 years old going to 15 this coming 15 Sept. We are in Ngunnawal and some suggested that my youngest girl be enroll in Gold Creek Senior School, but there are news that Gold Creek is not good for a new student like my daughter, is it true? I also like to enroll her at Amaroo but there is PEA rule, i guess. Any suggestions both for my daughter and my son, whom I think is in year 11 or 12? All your answers and suggestions will be much appreciated. Thank you.....
  4. Hi all, We're moving to Canberra late December this year. We're very excited to live in such beautiful city and celebrating Christmas in OZ with you great people. My kids asked Santa Claus last year to send us to OZ as our next year's Christmas gift, and here we come. Thanks God. We have three sons 9, 4 and 4. We're looking to rent a home or townhouse in Belconnen or Gungahlin suburbs. Our main search factors are safety and good schools for our kids. We're searching for properties on allhomes, we find it excellent source for information. But we need more information from you kind Canberrans which we couldn't gather from the site, please. Belconnen and Gungahlin have many suburbs and I'm sure some suburbs are better than others. Please recommend which area to search in and which places to avoid. Our rent budget is 350-400 a week, do you think we could get a good property for a family with this budget? Cheers, Mariana
