    Eeek! Glasgow - Perth

Hello all  This is my first post on the site. My partner and I had been contemplating a move to Perth for over two years, as I work for an Australian company here in Scotland I approached them in July to request a transfer to the Perth office (in the Belmont area). Last week it was approved and I've been asked to leave... in four weeks! This means I will be apart from my Mrs for at least 3 months while she sorts out our affairs here. The rush is starting to panic me a bit to be honest, that and being by myself for at least three months. I'm a sad case I know. I'm looking for some positive words please (about how great Perth is) and if anyone fancies a drink while I'm there (and alone!) please comment as such. I arrive on Oct 1st. Also, I'm a 26yr old lady with quite varied interests and can easily chat to anyone. Thanks for taking the time to read, Suzanne

Anyone going to the expo in Glasgow tomorrow?? Am i being typically Scottish by starting to think, "whats the catch"?. Everything at it seems to be free. Entry, visa assessment, chat with agent etc
  4. Hi, I will be in Scotland on 12/06/2011 to engage to my girlfriend in Eilean Donan Castle. I know that she loves lilac flowers like this: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rmen-FmPv5w/TajgERWnIJI/AAAAAAAAAFo/GB56wEOZ4YY/s1600/lilacs_white_big.jpg I'm sure that I would make her dream come true if I would have a bouquet of them while engaging to her. There is flower service near the castle, but they do not have bouquets with those flowers, so I'm asking you for help. Do you know any place I could order with delivery (best online) a bouquet of such flowers in Glasgow? Thanks!
  5. I have been to a good few Rangers v Celtic matches (electric atmosphere)........... PIO on a Saturday night..............or any other night of late is just about reaching the same dizzy heights. Are we in for a good 90 minutes worth of play ? You can just imagine the commentary as each post becomes visible :chatterbox:

  7. Hi there, If there are any Scots out there wanting to meet other Scots for a social let me know. My husband is from Glasgow - we have been in Melbourne for a few years now and it would be great to meet up with people with a similar sense of humour - my husband often gets tired of repeating himself. We have a 3yr old boy and live in the West of Melbourne but happy to meet up in other parts of Melbourne. Cheers Sam
  8. HI Folks. I know a lot of you are heading home for various different reasons and I wish you all good luck. We are on our way to Adelaide and the only thing stopping us is selling our house. We have a 4 (double) bedroom, mid terrace, 3 storey, townhouse for sale in Erskine, just 20 mins from Glasgow. 9. We are hoping to book our one way tickets this weekend for 26 October 2010. 3 adults and 1 child (oldest is 12 so seemingly she is now an adult!!!) with the 2 hour stopover in Dubai with Emirates. We have flown with them before and they were great. I have tried various sites and the cheapest is £2553 with Opodo through Skyscanner (Emirates) Cant seem to get the same price though when I klick on BOOK?? Haven't phoned anyone up yet so was just wondering if there were any I might of missed in my search for a deal/bargain. Tried netflights, skyscanner emirates, thomas cook. Thanks Mandy

  11. Hi folks, Looking to book flights soon. Hoping to leave for Perth around 23rd Aug (visa needs validated by 8th Sept). There's me, my wife and 2 kids aged 5 and 8. Flights are coming in at £2,100 one way. Anyone flew this time before on same route at same time? Is this as cheap as its going to get or are Emirates likely to have another special off similar to one that just expired on flights to Oz before 30th June? Would rather book soon so that its one thing off my enormous to do list! Thanks Michael
  12. Hi Has anyone been to these shows before, Is it a waste of time and money or is it quite informative. Hubby has agreed to go along and see what NZ, AUstrailia and Canada have to offer, but his convinced himself that it is full of hard pushing sales peeps. Im keen to go but a few people have said not worth it. Sorry if I have placed this is the wrong area, was not sure. Thanks

    Emigrate Glasgow SECC

Hi all just to let you know that Emigrate will be at the SECC on the 13-14 March. The website and details are here Emigrate Glasgow Information There are also dates for different parts of the UK too. We went to the Edinburgh one a yr of 2 back and it was OK. As we had already been researching for quite a while I didn't really learn anything new - its more for people starting the process but it was still a great day out.

  15. Hi everyone, I registered on this site months ago now, but Im not really sure how to navigate around so bear with me ... Anyway, our situation (myself and hubby) is this - I have been accepted onto a graduate programme commencing 1st Feb 2010 at a hospital in Perth. Having just qualified as a nurse here in the UK and having just recently got married - my application was delayed for some time whilst awaiting new paperwork etc I am doing all this through an agent/agency (IPA) - they have forwarded documents for a 'nomination for 457 sponsored visa' which I have completed & returned with all necessary docs (passport copies, job descript and contract of employment). So what happens now?? It would seem everyone on here knows a thing or two about the visa application process - I haven't got a clue ... I simply complete whichever documents are sent my way, but we're now worried (having read many threads on here) that the process can be quite lengthy. We're about to sell our home but reluctant to purchase flights just incase we dont meet the deadline - obviously we'd like to get organised and find somewhere to rent in Perth, but not sure quite what to do now. Also, noone said anything to me about medicals etc - it is mentioned in my contract that I have to satisfy medical requirements but does this happen on arrival in Australia or do I have to organise it at this end?? And ... I am due to sit the IELTS in October. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Natalie x

  20. Hi all, Well he made it home. Tired and hungry. They did not get offered the option of a break, so worked through. He says the men testing them were really friendly and helpful, so just have to wait and see now, so fingers crossed. I would like to say a big thankyou to everyone who gave him the good wishes and were thinking of him today, he is just glad it is all over. He took a big hammer to his practice roof in the garden and he said it felt good. Good luck to everyone who is still waiting to do the test, and all those who are waiting for results. Take care.
