Genuine job vacancies - 457 potential - coal geologists
Guest posted a topic in Careers and Vacancies
Hi guys, I work for a recruitment company and at present have clients who are genuinely offering 457 working sponsored visa's to qualified Mining Geologists who have experience with Coal. They are actively seeking candidates from overseas as there are not enough suitable, qualified candidates for their needs in Australia. Candidates must be prepared to relocate to Brisbane. Assistance could also be provided for relocation costs. If you are interested, or know someone that might be, please feel free to message me, and i will be in contact with you. Please provide email address in your message. Thanks- 4 replies

Hi all! This is my first post here on POI, but I just wanted to say that I've finally booked my flights! I fly out to Perth on the 12th Feb! So I know I haven't been waiting as long as some of you on here, but I finished university last June with a degree in Geology and have been looking for jobs since that time. After a few that have fallen through for various reasons I decided to just book my flights and see what happens when I get there. I have a friend from uni who is already over there working for a mineral resource company who has very kindly offered me a place to stay while I get myself together. Are there any other either graduates or geologists taking the plunge any time soon? Really really can't wait!!!!!!! Perth here I come!

Geologist Working at Sea not to live in Oz - agents can't get thier head around it?
Guest posted a topic in Aussie Chat
Hi all! I am in a unusual position in that what I am looking for is very different to the usual fare. So I'm looking for specialist info. First, Although my job title is Geotechnical Geologist and an agency has been treating me that way because I am not a chartered geologist so it seems that in the eyes of immigration I am unskilled. I wonder if I should paint it a different way. For example, I am also known as an engineer. I am not a chartered engineer either... but could this be a better way to go I wonder? Second, there is no skill assessment body for both geotechnics or geology. This suprises me in that this is a massive field all the way from building houses to mining. And miners going out to the middle of nowhere are welcome (because it sucks, no aussie will do it!). Third, I work at sea. In fact, all I want to be able to do is work in aussie waters. I wonder if I may have more luck retraining as an able seaman. Fourth, I don't need residency. I just want to be allowed to work in Australian waters, commuting from Singapore. Alternatively I can always retrain. What hands-on career doesn't take long in training but gets you in? -j
