    Mount Gravatt - Brisbane Suburb Guide

    Mt Gravatt Mount Gravatt is a suburb approx 10 km south of Brisbane. It use to be largest suburb in Brisbane until they split the areas up in to Mount Gravatt East, Mount Gravatt South, Upper Mount Gravatt and Wishart. The suburb has a mixture of hilly areas and flat with leafy streets and some stunning residential properties, there are a rising number of units and townhouses being developed. Mount Gravatt has long been one of the major centres outside of the CBD, especially for those who reside on the south of the city. It is a popular central business district with a number of recognized Major Retailers and boasts some of the best Cafes, Restaurants, Small local businesses, numerous Banks and other Financial Institutions to be proud of. It has moved forward rapidly with some major changes being seen over the past few years. It is a large, multicultural suburb, with a wide choice of Churches, Schools, Parklands, Arts and Culture, and transport. Public Transport Unfortunately there is no train line connecting Mount Gravatt to the CBD. The Brisbane City Council Bus Service runs frequently to all areas with many local streets with service for all residents. Shopping What can I say, apart from I really wish I lived in Mount Gravatt, but I don't think my husbands wallet could take it. You are 7 minutes drive from two of the largest shopping centres, restaurants and movie theatres. Carindale Shopping Centre Garden City Shopping Centre You also have the Mt Gravatt Plaza, shops and cafes on Logan Rd Mt Gravatt Homemaker Centre - Mt Gravatt Homemaker Centre features 13 stores to cater to your home and leisure needs. With a combination of electrical, sporting and homewares, banking, health and organic retailers Mt Gravatt Homemaker Centre offers great choice and an easy and enjoyable shopping experience. The Village Upper Mount Gravatt And many more smaller shopping complexes. Bunnings All the car dealerships you can think of What to Do For a start you have cinemas, an aquatic centre, public library, parks & off-leash areas, and a scout hall for families. Get up early on Saturdays and Sundays and explore the trash and treasure, fresh fruit and veg and other delights at the Mt Gravatt markets at the Showgrounds. Don't forget a trip to Mt Gravatt Outlook with its spectacular 360-degree views of Brisbane, pack a picnic or have a BBQ. For dogs: check out the local off-leash areas where Fido can release canine tension. Try DM Henderson Park at MacGregor, Abbeville Street Park, Mt Gravatt East and Boorabbin Picnic Ground, Wishart. Exercise - You could walk to the nearest stop and catch the bus to work, or take the kids to school. 3 x 10 mins daily exercise is recommended for good health. Or, go for laps at the Hibiscus Sports Complex, Klumpp Road in Upper Mt Gravatt. (You'll double the exercise by walking there). For fitness and fun, try your nearest Active and Healthy Park including Hibiscus Sports Complex, Upper Mt Gravatt or the Wishart Community Park which has lots of walking and bike tracks. Why not join your local 'gonewalking' group for fitness or leisure walks with trained walk leaders. Wander around the delightful Toohey Forest - with more than 650 hectares of bushland, it is an important example of dry eucalypt forest in an urban environment. The forest hills and slopes provide a vital habitat for many native plants and animals. Mt Gravatt Lookout is part of Toohey Forest and offers spectacular city views. Stroll along Bulimba Creek which weaves its way through the area, enjoy wildlife spotting along the creek banks. Mt Gravatt Park Located off busy Logan Road in Upper Mount Gravatt, Mount Gravatt Park is a good play option for families in the area. The playgrounds feature swings, rockers, climbing activities and a slide and are protected from the sun by shade structures.
