  1. Hey! I should be arriving in Brisbane, 7th January 2015 :cute: I'm really scared, as I'm 20, never been away from family, and freaking out a little! Looking to do farm, animal work, or child care work! I'm not a very girly girl, I like my heavy metal, and classic rock, But I do enjoy a bit of girly time, nails done etc. Message me if you want to meet up in January! Male or Female, I like to think I get on with everybody :biglaugh:

    Moving to North Brisbane

Hi we’re a family of 5 (boy 13, girl 5 and baby boy <1) moving to North Brisbane July 8th, initially staying in Narangba. I work in research (health) and my husband was a joiner/carpenter, but will be graduating as a civil engineer next month. It’s taken 5 years in the planning to get to this stage and we can’t believe we’re finally making the move! We’re a very sociable family, and would love to hear from others currently in the Brisbane area or who are making the move there soon. Look forward to hearing from you
  3. Hi moved to the Sunshine Coast five weeks ago on a gap year.. Currently living with my aunt and uncle in Nambour. but really struggling to make friends and settle in.. Any 18 year olds also in the Sunshine Coast know of any groups where you can meet people or would like to meet up? thanks
  4. Ok, so, i have lived in Brisbane for over a year now. I am a permanent resident and moved over here on my own back in May, i met my friend from my previous work here who was on a working visa, we flat shared together and it was good as we have common ground. He moved to NZ around 2 weeks ago. My parents and sister moved here in October, my sister is 18 and she moved back home after 3 months, my parents are fine as they have each other and they live by the beach.. I have recently realised that my social life here is not brilliant, yes i have met some friends but they are all over the age of 28 and are iether married, engaged or not on exactly the same level as me.. My unit lease ends in four weeks and now im reviewing my options with moving back to the UK as an option so i can enjoy being social and young.. Help! Just wondering if there are any other people around 18-25 who are also having these problems? If so, message me and maybe we can arrange to meet etc. Cheers, Luke

    Making friend is difficult?

I find making friends over here so hard. I moved here 5 years ago from England to Brisbane. I accept that things are completely different here to England some good some bad and I have always appreiciate different cultures/interest/religions etc etc But I've just found making friends so hard and awkward, I feel like it's a mission, there's no flow in any conversation, people don't understand my humor, and I think I've just had enough. And it gets me down so much because I love this country but I've never experienced feeling so isolated from a whole nationality of people. I know they'll be some aussies saying ''well if you don't like it bugger off' ''Well we'll just have to see what the aborigines have to say about that, ay! It's that exact arrogance I can't stand. Has anyone else had difficulties making friends? I live in Brisbane, and I feel like my mind wants to blow up sometimes, I don't get the people, their attitudes. Perhaps us 'pommies' are too soft, but I believe in self respect and giving it back, I find having both these traits make you come across as a weakling and it will only get you knocked down and walked over.I have gradually found myself loosing my sense in humor I once had and have now adopted this defensive attitude in preparation for cocky, smart uncalled for remarks. I apologize if this is just too personal and may offend australians, and I have met some really lovely people here, just not enough of them.
  7. Heyy! I am a 13 year old girl moving to the gold coast in November! I am really excited but nervous about not knowing anyone  i would really like to talk to some people and make some friends on here so i don't feel completely alone when i move there  Thank you! Daisy xx
