Hi all, We were not going to bring the fridge freezer but looking at prices to buy a new one has made our eyes water!! Don't know whether we should bring it with us? Has anyone got any advice Thanks

Been reading a book about migrating to Australia and it says "it is illegal to import fridge freezers" ??? Has anyone else heard anything like this? I was planning on taking mine Thanks Kaylee x

This fridge/freezer was purchased 12 months ago and put in a holiday home, where it has only been in use for the last 6 months. So is in excellent condition and still looks brand new. It is a new line of no-frost refrigerators. Introduced by samsung, the no-frost refrigerators are believed to save more electricity. They require less periodic cleaning compared to direct cooling models. No-frost refrigerators also have optimum cooling temperature so they don’t require as much energy to power them. No-frost refrigerators are also more hygienic, for they prevent meat discoloration caused by freezer burns which contribute to a loss of flavor. Food freezes more quickly, preventing bacteria from forming between the time the food is in room temperature to the time it is in a frozen environment. This model features the air shower, which provides bursts of freezing air from the top and the back of the freezer compartment that freeze food quickly. Food items are evenly cooled as the multi-air flow system provides air ducts for each shelf. Cold air enters from the back via separate outlets for each shelf space. The cold curtain feature is a blast of cold air that prevents warm air from coming in whenever you open the ref. Health system The Silver Nano Health System is a basic feature of all models. Silver nano ions are integrated in the material used for building the inner walls of the refrigerator so when the bacteria from food hit the walls, they’re instantly destroyed. There’s also a Silver Nano Deodorizer which neutralizes unpleasant odors with silver nano particles. There’s no need to put baking soda or charcoal inside the refrigerator. Hi Just checked literature supplied by removal company for taking our stuff to Australia and found that our fridge has to be de-gassed here and then re-gassed in Australia. The fridge is ten years old and was earmarked as a beer/wine fridge so may not be worth taking. Any info or feedback would be helpful Thanks

Hi guys, I'll be leaving the country in just under a month and have a couple of things for sale. They are all in very good condition, almost new really. We had removal companies come today to give us a quote for relocating our stuff to Perth. They advised against taking the fridge freezer and washing machine. They gave mixed reasons, one said it was because they dont travel well and maybe wont survive the trip (they're 2 years old), one said the the customs in oz dont like the gases in the fridges here and another said that you cant clean washing machines to the standards that customs require. My ex colleague took both with him and had no problems with customs. He did however have to replace his washing machine within months of being there, reason unknown. It would be great to hear of your experiences. Thanks :smile:

Hi I'm moving out of a 3 bed house in Mt Martha, Vic around mid feb. The landlady and home owner is going to install a new kitchen around that time and has recently put a new bathroom and windows. It's a house in a great location for schools, shops & of course the beaches. I can be honest about the home as i'm just posting it here on Poms in Oz so someone can get a good little set up like me and my family did. The home is not modern but it is clean and tidy, no aircon but does have heating, in my view it is very liveable. It is located on the beachside of the Nepean Highway with just a short walk til your dipping your toes. We pay $330 per week with a 2 week notice period, the landlady lives in Brisbane and is very nice lady (no snotty agents). You can either have her look for a tradesmen if needed or you can do the work yourself and get a deduction from the rent. When we first looked at the house we thought "no thanks" but once inside we thought it was OK and had to have it. It's in a VERY quiet residential area. My partner & kids went back home (UK) last month and I am soon to follow as I thought I good be strong enough to stay but just can't live without my kids. I'm hoping to ship as little as possible back to the UK so there are many household items available for sale - going cheap! Osbourne Primary is a short walk and is very good. If you are interested you can contact me and I will forward you the landlady's details. This really will suit someone either moving to Australia, waiting for shipping to arrive or someone looking to move to the area of the Mornington Peninsula which is beautiful. Neville

I saw a post from Tracy123 about shipping a fridge freezer and whether it was worth it if it needed to be re-gassed. This echoed a shipping agent that came around recently to give us a quote. I know its something to do with CFC's but dont know what the trigger is Our FF is gassed with isobutane R600a Is that ok or will it need to be re-gassed if we take it ....anybody know ? JT

Hey there, i would like to take my 42 inch Plasma TV back to the UK and Washing Machine, Fridge Freezer etc... will they work back home if i change the plugs? I read somewhere that the sound frequencies in TVs are different here to UK and may not work and also if i had a set top box it will work with this? Anyone brought their TV back home and it worked? Hi We are in SE Brisbane and have a white fridge/freezer for sale, although it is approximately 6 years old it was recently 'serviced' and is in good working order. It is geared up for the rigours of a Queensland summer and hasn't let us down. $200 ono. We will be returning to the UK on February 13th so we will be able to sell it soon for anyone arriving here. Has anyone had problems with anything that has CFC in it, ie the fridge, a car with aircon etc, which is classed as precharged equipment and apparently needs a licence to be imported into Australia.

Think I need to cry, just got back from 10 day holiday to find an e-mail from Case Worker. WE DID IT ------ I PASSED MY 2nd MEDICAL & WE HAVE OUR VISA GRANT LETTER :v_SPIN: My Husband doesnt know yet, I justed poped to shops got a 5ft Aussie Flag, red white & blue balloons and have a five year old bottle of champers in the fridge waiting for him to come home. Feel a bit sick & tearful but over the moon that we can now relax and plan our move to Perth over the next two years. Flying out Dec for 4 Weeks to find our new home & school for kids.
