Hi all I will be moving to Perth in September 2014 with my OH and we are looking to rent in the Fremantle area when we arrive. We are open to the idea of renting a room in a house or renting our own space (furnished is preferred). I know its a few months off but if anyone lives in or around Fremantle and has a place to rent, or knows of anyone who does can you get in touch. Thanks

We're staying in CBD for few days then just need to decide which other 2 possible places to stay in. We're both 30 with no kids so wouldnt want anything too quiet. 6. Hi, Is there anybody who has worked or is currently working as a Nurse in any of these hospitals who can shed some light on what it is like to work there. My wife has been offered a job in both hospitals and we can't decide on which one to accept. Both offer roughly the same salary so our decision would be based on working conditions/environment and future prospetcs. Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated. t4top

    Two weeks in Fremantle.......

Well, we left the snow behind and arrived to hot, hot, hot! People kept telling me that life here is so different to the UK and they were right! Initially I was a bit overwhelmed by how nice and friendly everyone is....lol.......it's lovely! Just secured a lovely rental in Kardinya and will be enrolling my daughter (aged 12) in school on Monday. Hubby, Steve, is using our car so a bit lost at the minute but Fremantle is a great place to get around and see. Hoping to make some good friends to go with the good life, and have met some very lovely folk already. I keep telling myself it is still early days and things will happen at their own pace. Bit up and down at the minute............. Might go back to work once my daughter has settled, but I'll see....... Our container is due to arrive on 7th April, Mum is arriving from Scotland on 28th and my cat will be here on 15th! Can't wait to have my "things" as this should help............. Nikki (44), Steve (36), Mia (12) and Chintzie the cat.........
  8. Hi there, I am currently moving back to OZ after six great years in the UK. I have a car which i would like to take with me, i have arranged import documents and shipping (roro) so all is sorted this end. But the mind-field starts now! What is the procedure once it arrives, how much is the duty, gst and quarantine costs? I have read all different prices and quotes from different places so I am getting a very sore head just thinking about it. Any help will be a fantastic
  9. I have been offered a job in East Fremantle as a nurse (Kaleeya hospital) and was wondering which areas we should be looking towards for living. I was thinking that the southern suburbs would be best then there is no crossing through the main CBD area each day but how far south should we be looking, would Rockingham, Baldivis be too far. We would be looking to rent at first and don't want to overstretch ourselves too much with rental price, probably $450 per week max, and we would need 3 bedrooms. Also how would be the best way to get to work, bearing in mind I am a nurse so will be doing shifts and hopefully would be missing the main rush hour traffic. Would it be possible to get the train and perhaps a bus to get to work at all or is it too far out of the way Thanks

    Fremantle Car Hire

Hi Guys Does anyone know if I can hire a car without a credit card ? Reading the small print of the bigger hire companies, they all state that I can book in advance and pay in advance with a debit card but when I pick the car up they have to take a swipe of a credit card for a line of credit. I'm not sure if we would be able to get an Australian credit card straight away which solve some problems. Arriving next week so any info would be very helpful. Cheers Des.

We have 3 children (youngest 4 weeks old!) and just need peace of mind that it's gonna be ok really! We would also like to hear rom anyone in Fremantle as we don't know anyone over there and would like to make some friends!! Becky & Ed.

    Fremantle Suburbs

Does anyone know anything about the suburbs of Fremantle - I am thinking about places like, Beaconsfield, Hilton, O'Connor, Samson, White Gum Valley? We would love to live in Fremantle but our pennies just won't stretch so I did a search on the suburbs and they are much more financially viable, but is thre any reason why we wouldn't want to live in any of them? Airport noise? Industrial? Does anyone have any idea about any of the High Schools? I can't even seem to work out which High Schools it would be using Aussie Move.

  20. Hello! My boyfriend and I are emigrating to Perth in July and will be working in Fremantle Hospital as registered nurses. We've been looking online at rental properties in Fremantle and surrounding suburbs, we understand that living in the sububs we would get more for our money, can anyone tell us which suburbs are the better ones as its difficult to tell from looking online? We're looking at propertys up to about $450 per week (a pool would be nice as well!!) , not sure if this is realistic as unsure about living expences, council tax, electric etc, any idea of basic living costs? Any help with this would be much appreciated Caz and Si :spinny:

    Fremantle Prison

The Convicts or POM's build the prison in 1850 - it was only decommissioned as a maximum-security prison in 1991. The gallows are still there and quite a sobering sight, they do a number of tours, they also do one at night (which I believe is very good but a bit scarey) and you can also do a tunnel tour. The guides are really imformative and the tour we took lasted about an hour and a half. The kids enjoyed learning about the history of the place - well worth a visit Ali
  23. Hi All, I am a private landlord consultant operating from Perth. One of my clients has a property in Fremantle which is the 2nd city of Perth. It is a 2brm 2 storey apartment with all the furniture and all the fittings, and I mean everything, all you need is your clothes CD collection and laptop. The property has 2 outside courtyards, 2 parking bays, airconditioning, heating and quality everything!!!!! You can walk in to the city centre (about 2 minutes), walk to the beach (about 5 minutes) or catch a bus right outside your door. The train station is a free bus ride away (about 2mins). It is also just down the road from the Fremantle Hospital. My clients are asking $450 per week with a minumum of 6 months. Unfortunately the property is not suitable for children or pets. The property will be available from 2 April 2007:jimlad:
