Evening all, I am starting my HND foundation degree in mechanical engineering alongside a level 4 NVQ next month with the hope that it will put me in a good position to progress into an engineering career in Victoria Australia. Are there any engineers on here who could give some good careers advice to somebody wanting to climb the ladder in Aussie engineering? More to the point what level of job should I be hoping to obtain with the HND level qualifications. I want to be looking into jobs well in advance but am not sure at what level they will give me the time of day. Graduate schemes etc. I am currently a Quality inspector for a large international company producing industrial gas turbine and Aero engine components, at the time of emigration I will have around 10 years experience within an engineering background. I will hopefully have Status metrology CMM qualifications also. Any help will be much appreciated
I was pretty sure that I didn't need one, but now I'm not so sure. I have started the online application for my 187 visa and on page 11, it asks if I have a skills assessment. In the info for this question, it says that for the RSMS direct entry, a skills assessment is required for overseas qualified tradespeople at ANZSCO skill level 3. I have been nominated as 'Hotel Service Manager', specialising as front office manager, which according to ANZSCO is skill level 3: http://www.abs.gov.au/ausstats/abs@.nsf/lookup/91290F0C00EF0445CA2575DF002DA5AB?opendocument I studied for 2 years in England for a Foundation Degree in Hotel and Catering Management, which is equivalent to NVQ L5 or an Australian Diploma / Advanced Diploma. I have also previously discussed this with a migration agent, who said: ''Hotel Service Manager does not require a Skills Assessment but Olivia will need to demonstrate she meets the skill level to apply under that occupation. Hotel Office Manager requires Olivia to show evidence of Certificate III equivalent including at least 2 years' experience. At least 3 years' experience can however substitute the formal qualification.'' Any help / advice / direction would be appreciated, was i've already trawled the internet for answers.
Hi all by trade I am a qualified electrician but I also have a Foundation Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Are Foundation Degrees recognised? If not, do they recognise levels? As in my apprenticeship was to NVQ level 3, the foundation degree is equivalent to level 4 and 5. I think a batchelors degree is a level 6. Thanks Nick
Hi I am a fully qualified apprentice trained electrician with 17th, 2391 and soon to become JIB approved. I am also doing a Foundation Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. I was wondering wether or not it will be recognised? My apprenticeship taught me to level 3 and this course is level 4 and 5, I thinks its half a degree. Any help would be appriciated
