Hi, I am new to this so please bear with me. My name is Raymond , I work as a firefighter in Glasgow. I stay with my girlfriend and stepdaughter and we all want to migrate to Australia. I am 24, my girfriend is 27 and daughter is 3. I have been firefighting for 3 years, previously lived in Australia for 9 months during a working holiday visa and just loved it. I know firefighter is not a recognized skill, but to be honest I would be willing to do any other job just to get in and work in Australia. My partner works in an office so that isnt an option either. I also have a cousin who is an Australian citizen and lives in Sydney, if that is of any relevance? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hopefully moving to Aus in just over 18 months when my husband has finished in the navy. I can easily find nursing jobs over there, however finding jobs which will use his skills is proving a little difficult. He is thinking of trying as a civilian firefighter - any ideas where we can get information on this for around Adelaide? Bev x

15 years as a Fire Fighter and just handed my notice in giving 4 weeks.. It seems strange that after so long, basically a scrap of paper with my resignation on it ends it all... No thanks or kiss my arse or anything... In life you are just a number so make the most of it and enjoy everybit of it, including the challenges... Im sure a few of them are heading my way.. Loved the job, loved the lads, love the people of the communities but felt that there is more to life for me... I dont know if Australia will be that more! but nothing ventured nothing gained! Bring on the next exciting chapter.. Chris x (5 Weeks... Whoo hoo)

I would appreciate any help on the following... Hi I'm a 25 y/o Firefighter in UK wanting to know how I can improve my chances of a move to down under. I want to know if there are any specific areas that I can train in within the service that can make me part of the 'needed' list. I would certainly consider changing career to move also. Where can I go for general advice? What skills can I train in over a year - 18month period to become skilled and part of the intake to Australia? Steve
