  1. Hi, I'm on a 457 visa. Not liking living here so we want to return to the UK. Can I resign and get my fare paid to go back to the UK or do I need to get myself sacked for that! Want to save myself the cash and get the employer to pay for it. One person I talked to said the obligation to pay return fare is only provided if the employer terminates me. I know that won't happen, so do I need to commit gross misconduct? Thanks
  2. Just had our flights booked by my husbands company only to be told we have a 23kilo allowance.....just like a normal traveller eventhough we are going one way...with Quantas. When i called them they said the company should have booked a "emigration fare" ticket which is only £80 p/p more and you can get 40kg allowance......i'm so annoyed as the company dont seem interested in amending the ticket for us........ and to pay excess baggage it will be approx $800 agggggghhhhhhhh..........fuming!:arghh:
  3. Hi Has anyone used IOM (International Organisation for Migration) to book a one way fare to Oz? According to the 176 Visa Paperwork I got, I believe they can get you reduced fares and extra baggage allowance, however, I have had no joy contacting them - no reply to several emails or messages left on voicemails (which is pretty bad for an international organisation that is supposed to help people!!). I guess my question is; - is it worth pursuing them - am I going to save any money really? - is there any other way to get a reduced/subsidised fare with extra baggage allowance? - what extra baggage allowance does each of the airlines offer? Thanks
  4. Qantas have advised me that it has increased fares on the UK route by up to 5%. The new fares apply to all tickets issued on or after December 18 and apply to published and retail fares. More information at :https://www.qantas.com.au/agents/dyn/qf/info/qantasNewsIndex

  6. The flight is leaving tomorrow from Sydney to Nadi and returning on 2nd March 95 dollars each way excluding taxes. If you want a break its a good deal.
  7. Hi all, just thought I'd let you know that OH and I finally got round to buying our tix for Melbourne for next Monday. I kept putting it off and off - think it finally hit that it's time to go!!! - and had been looking round for a good direct flight there. I'd rung up the Qantas regional telesales and they told me that there was no migrant fares so we went into our local branch thinking that we would just be buying normal one way tickets and would pay any excess baggage charges if we had to. Got to the counter and told the lady that we wanted to buy one way tix to Melbourne and she enquired if we meant migrant fares. I told her what I was informed on the phone and she said that the migrant fares are only available in the office and not over the phone as you have to show proof of your visa (think it's still only applicable for certain types of visas). So we showed her the visas and then gingerly asked the price of the migrant fare (I asked at Singapore Airlines and their fare was almost twice as expensive as the normal one way tix!!) and she quoted a price that was actually cheaper than what I found online for their normal one way prices!! This and we are going to get 40kg each! PLEASE NOTE: we are flying from Singapore and not England but for those of you that have only enquired through the phoneline, get yourselves down to the nearest Qantas office and ask in person. It's worth a try!

    Child aged 12, Adult fare???

Hi all I am a way off booking flights but just started an internet search and was surprised to see that my child who will be 12 when we migrate is classed as an adult with some airlines. I was going to start trawling through all the airlines when I thought to myself "somebody on PIO will save me all the hard work and know the answer to my question" .... do all of the airlines charge adult fares for over 12's
