  3. Hi guys I'm sorry if this has been asked before. It's to do with PCC. I have just applied for SS. My problem is that at the moment I'm not resident in my country of birth (3 years now). I understand I will need PCC from both countries. Now here is where the problem lies: Do I need to go to my country of origin myself or DIAC will do their own investigations? Can I start the process now or should i wait for the SS outcome? Are there some kinds of forms to be filled and where can i find these? Thanks tarchik
  4. My husband has been offered a job in Canberra (457 visa) and I am panic struck about finding information. Having read some of the threads I understand that you have to pay for education in ACT, NSW and ???? - does anyone know what the fees are per year or term. I read that one family were told that they would not have to pay fees in the ACT but were then told they would have to pay $13500, so they sent their children to a private school. I am 'blinded' by all of the information on the internet so can someone tell me which Australian territories charge and which ones are free? I'm awaiting information on taking the animals too but fear this is going to be terribly expensive. I have also read that you do not pay as much tax on your earnings for the first 2 years ?? Can someone clarify ....... We have fell at the first two hurdles and am wondering whether this is for us .......... Is there an 'Idiots Guide To Living and Working In Australia' book that anyone knows to?? Any help would be appreciated.

    Medical enquiries

Hi all, I am new in here so please be patient with me thanks If the panel doctor said that they will be sending the medical result to the Australian High Comm instead of directly to DIAC/ Australia. Is this OK? Or they should send it straight to the DIAC in Australia ? Many thanks Finn
  6. hi to all, I've made a post last time but answers were not that clear that's why I'm seeking advice again. I'm a 457 Visa Holder working here in WA for more than a month. I'm an Accountant/Auditor. I believe my occupation is in SOL, and MODL. I want to apply for PR asap. My questions are: 1. How soon can I start application? Is there a time frame to apply since I'm pretty new in WA. 2. What visa should I apply for, 175 or 176 notwithstanding that I'm currently in WA. As I've checked, Accountant is quite in demand in State sponsorship as well (176) 3. Will my skills need to be assessed by Recognized Australian Body (CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia, VETASSESS, etc.) ? 4. How long would it take to get 175 or 176 visa approval? 5. The big question is, Can I do the application and all the process needed by myself? or do I need to have a migration agent? I hope to receive positive feedback and help since I want to get ideas so I can plan everything and save up to pay for the fees and I dont want to wake up one morning with no job since 457 is employer based visa. Thanks to all of you. This website is very informative and useful.
  7. Hi Folks We are just making initial enquiries at the moment with agents and were about to arrange for a skill assessment for Andy, when I looked into the new pathway D requirements and now I think we need some advice. Andy is a Motor Mechanic of 9 years working experience, he initially did a city and guilds level 1 in motor vechicle repair and servicing then got a job at a nissan dealership and only attended nissan specialised courses, then joined a Toyota Dealership and continued with any courses they presented. however as none of these are formal qualifications we are rather concerned we will just be wasting our money going ahead with an assessment. Initially we thought his work experience would get us through, but with these new rules we are far from confident. Would his only option now be to totally retrain to an NVQ 2/3?? thanks in advance Sara and Andy
