    the 18th march emails

Hi, We were one of what seemed to be many people that received a mail to say we should have a c/o within 3 months and to go ahead and do p/c's and meds. We just wondered if anyone who got the same mail has got a c/o yet. I suppose i am hoping lots of you will reply yes so that i know things are close but i'm dreading hearing too many no's. thanks
  3. Hi hope someone can shed any light on this. We were allocated a case officer on 22 March 2011. Received an email from a lady from Team 4, asking us to submit police checks and medicals. I scanned and emailed a change of circumstances form because i had renewed my passport and sent new copy of passport to them. I also emailed to let them know that we had sent our police checks off on the 28 march and that we have our medicals in manchester on 15 april. but have had no reply from them. wanted to know if the time scales for our medicals and police checks were okay but am still none the wiser. dont know what to do. has anyone else had this problem thanks nicola
  4. Hi all just thought I would give you this info as I have found it VERY informative I emailed the Dept of Energy in WA ref obtaining a license when arriving they sent me this. Hi Lloyd Your choice if you wish to be assessed before you leave or if you wait until you are in Australia. VETASSESS will assess in your country of origin and TRA will assess if you are already in Australia. Once we have received your application and you have been assessed by us we will send you to do the Electrical Trade Licensing Course and when you have successfully completed the course you will be granted your Licence according to the endorsement you have bee assessed by either VETASSESS or TRA. If you have been assessed as an Electrical Mechanic and once you have been granted your Licence you can then apply to do the Electrical Contractors Training Program so that you may be a self employed electrician/contractor. You can not do this process until you have been granted a full electricians licence with no restrictions. Below is the link to the application form you will need once you have been assessed by either VETASSESS or TRA http://www.docep.wa.gov.au/EnergySaf...018%200710.pdf Cheers Robyn Nelson Senior Customer Service Officer - Licensing Office EnergySafety | Department of Commerce * PO Box 135 Cannington WA 6987 | Level 1 Mason Bird Building, 303 Sevenoaks Street, Cannington WA 6107 I then asked them to clarify exactly what the cert needs to read from VETASSES so I get an unrestricted license enabling me to go self employed, and got this back ; Hi Lloyd If you are assessed by TRA it needs to be Electrical Mechanic if you are assessed by VETASSESS it needs to read Offshore Technical Skills Record in relation to Units of Competency within the Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician Cheers Robyn Nelson Senior Customer Service Officer - Licensing Office EnergySafety | Department of Commerce * PO Box 135 Cannington WA 6987 | Level 1 Mason Bird Building, 303 Sevenoaks Street, Cannington WA 6107 so all those about look into licenses , I hope this helps I intend to go self employed after 12 months experience working there to get me up to speed with their ways of doing things, I know know what I need to get an unrestricted license. Hope this helps someone like it helped me  happy days Lloyd
  5. Does anyone know if they offer practical assessments in Australia? Since completing and passing my VETASSESS theory my wife has been offered a job so we are going over on a 457. Although this visa gives me full working rights I have however recently discovered to work as a contractor I need to obtain a Contractor Licence but my UK qualifications and experience as a Carpenter are not recognised. The NSW Fair Trading website advises applicants from overseas who have already migrated to Australia should have an assessment of their skills and knowledge for the licence class relevant to their trade and lists a number of training organisations (VETASSESS is not on this list). However just below this the site talks about using VETASSESS for General Skilled Migration. It says some trades need an "offshore technical skills record" from VETASSESS but Carpentry is not one of them. It literally just says that "any applicant issued with a qualification through VETASSESS is eligible to be granted a contractor licence or supervisor’s certificate for carpentry, bricklaying and/or joinery". No mention of the world offshore so would it be acceptable to do the practical in Australia??? I am keen to use VETASSESS as I have already completed their theory and plan to apply for a 175 visa so we can secure permanent residency. I have emailed them about 5x and no-one is responding! Got an email this morning inviting me to a practical in the UK though....3days after i leave!!

  7. Hi All I am inundated with PMs and e-mails and I simply don't have enough time to deal with them all. I have switched both options off for a week or so to give me time to deal with the backlog. Once the backlog is cleared I will switch them back on. Thank you for your patience and understanding. :notworthy: Cheers Gill

  11. Hi Everyone, I am an Aussie, & I have a lot of English friends, who miss their families. I would like to introduce you to an opportunity where you can make an income, but the best part is that you can communicate as often as you like with your friends & family back home by video emails. You can see each other & see new additions to families, etc. send birthday & Christmas cards with you speaking to your families each video email can be up to 10 minutes, & you can send them as often as you like. So you won't feel so isolated and you can make money at the same time. I invite you to visit Welcome - MyVideoTalk.com - Streaming Video Email for an explanation. Jill Purvis 08 9456 3918 I'm n Perth, but it doesn't matter where we are on the globe, we can still take advantage of the business.

    Not Receiving Emails from immi

Hello all, Just a note about problems receiving emails as mentioned in below thread about Medicals. We had not received any Emails from the Aus Visa people in respect of receiving our Visa application or anthing else. We we waited and wondered if they had got it at all, then we see that the fee had been taken from our account, but we still had no contact from them. We just presumed that there was a response back log. Just after the new year we decided to telephone them, it was a good job we did. They had sent us both our application receipt and a medical request by email. We had received neither of them. They verbally advised us of our reference details with them. I contacted my email server (Orange) and asked them if they could help with the missing emails, they were aware of email delivery problems and informed me I had nearly 200 emails that were in my email server box that had not been downloaded to me, dating back to Oct 2006. They said that it is a Microsoft / Outlook Express problem and that Microsoft had been trying to resolve this for some time. They do not know why you get some emails and not others. They advised me how I could look at all the emails that had not been downloaded to my computer which would be when the problem has been resolved. They said I should check both my and their email holder until the problem has been resolved by Microsoft. Anybody who is waiting for emails and are using the mentioned above email routes should check from their Servers Home page. Orange home page - top right side, grey box says Email address and Password. Hope this helps anyone waiting for email responses. Cheryl
  13. I guess many of you will know this already, but DIMIA have an e-mail reply service giving the status of their visa application backlog. Just send an empty e-mail to aspc.processing@immi.gov.au, and you'll receive a reply telling you which visa applications (by date of initial application) they are currently processing. I found this very useful before I was assigned a case officer, because replies to my queries about my visa application were rarely answered. In the end my application for a Skilled, Australian Sponsored visa took over 7 months before I was even assigned a case officer - considerably longer than the 4-5 months mentioned in the inital letter acknowledging receipt of my application. My application is still going through, and the whole process will have taken about 10 months to complete. John Wheeler.
