Does anyone know what it is like, for crime, are there any good high schools, is there plenty of things to do, good shopping centres etc. i would appreciate it if anyone could give me any help and just how far is Wooroloo from Ellenbrook and how long would the journey take by car. cheers for any information, jim & helen. 175 visa lodged 10/3/09
  2. Hey my name is Kayleigh and I moved to Ellenbrook from Ireland about three weeks ago with my six month old baby boy. My boyfriend is working locally until he heads back up to the mines at the end of the month. Would love to get to know other moms and or anyone in general. Finding it hard not knowing anyone here and the days are long at home with the baby by myself. If anyone even has any info about parent/children groups etc it would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance. Kayleigh

Hi my name is Louisa, just thought it's about time I got on here rather than reading everyone else's posts. My family and I arrived here from sunny sussex 10 weeks ago. We have been staying with friends since our arrival. We have found it very difficult to get a place to rent in the area we had chosen. Finally we have found a lovely place in Ellenbrook and we pick up the key's next Friday.:biggrin:Not having a house means that the kids have been off school for a rather long time and we're all going a little stir crazy! (my daughter has an orientation day today at Ellenbrook high school) My husband started his job two weeks ago and is finding it hard to re-adjust to the slower pace of life out here. He's not complaining especially in this heat.:spinny: Will post again soon, but if anyone in the area fancies meeting up then I would love to hear from you. I'm 32, hubby 36 and kids 6 & 12.

    Aveley, Ellenbrook or close by?

Just wondered if there was anyone in the area who fancied meeting up? There is me Dawn (37), Rob (42) and Anna (5). We love it here, and now having settled in it would be great to start getting to know people round and about. 
  5. I moved to Ellenbrook Oct '09 with my hubby & 3 children. Daughters aged 13 & 7 and a Son aged 6. I have made lots of friends since I have been here but they all live about 30 mins drive away. My best friend here in Ellenbrook went back home to New Zealand last week so i'm feeling a bit like a spare part. I work Tues, Wed & Thursdays so if anyone fancies meeting for a coffee Mon or Fridays let me know. I love Ellenbrook but just feel its hard to make friends here :swoon: My youngest children go to Ellen Stirling Primary & my eldest daughter goes to Hampton Senior High School in Morley.

    Living in Ellenbrook

G'day all, Hope everyone's enjoying life downunder. Was just wondering if anyone could give us a heads up on Ellenbrook. Looking online, property prices are affordable. What's the area like, how far is it from say Joondalup, what's the local schools like especially for yrs 8 and 10 ? Take care all TJ
  7. According to the UK crime stats, my village in Sussex had 1 burglary this year. But when I look at the local Ellenbrook paper - there seems to be heaps each week. Is this the case everywhere? I know I live in a low crime area in the UK, and there are much higher crime areas - but I thought Ellenbrook was a fairly reasonable suburb - is this typical? Does anyone have links to other local papers to compare? http://www.communitydigital.com.au/olive/ode/TheAdvocateEllenbrook/ Edit: I found one for Joondalup too - and there are heaps of burglaries everywhere. http://www.communitydigital.com.au/olive/ode/JoondalupTimesCentral/ The idea of being burgled makes my skin crawl. But I guess there are precautions you can take, and a big dog helps. Any advice would be good
  8. Does anyone here have an opinion on the Ellenbrook and Aveley areas ? We dont have kids yet but ehy may well be on the way soonish after arriving in Oz. Also my wife doesnt drive so some shops or at least public transport into the city would be nice. Will it be a tad warm being so far from the sea? I'll be probably be commuting to work on the industrial estates near the airport.

Hi all Just wondering if anyone has any views or information they can share on Ellenbrook. We have said all along we wanted somewhere north of Perth and by the beach, but recently I thought I would have a look at other regions around Perth and came across Ellenbrook. Not had much time to research it yet, but seems like a growing town/City. Going out in October to view different areas so anyones comments would be greatly accepted! Thanks Nicola
  11. Hi everybody.I would like to know what people think about Ellenbrook to move to.I have two girls of 13 and 5 and live in Woodvale at the moment.I am not sure I really want to move but we are finding it a bit of a financial struggle and would be better off in selling up and moving to Ellenbrook. My husband and 13 year old daughter are happy to move it is just me and my 5 year old who loves her school.I feel more stressed out now than when we moved to Australia!Sue.

  15. Hello, I live in The Vines, in beautiful Swan Valley, so I thought I would also include Ellenbrook, Aveley and Henley Brook, as basically we are all next to each other. All of the above mentioned suburbs are located in Swan Valley, located approx 22km from the CBD. We are about 20 mins from Midland and 30 mins from Morley for big shopping. We do have the shops at Ellenbrook, which currently have a Woolworths, Best for Less, 3 women's clothes shops, a surf shop, ANZ bank, payless shoes and a discount shop along with a barbers and a hairdressers. Phase 2 of The Shops at Ellenbrook is slated to start this year and will include a Big W and about another 20 stores. There is a state high school in Ellenbrook (Ellenbrook Secondary College) as well as 2 private high schools (Ellenbrook Christian College in Ellenbrook and Swan Valley Anglican school in Aveley)... there are numerous new primary schools throughout Ellenbrook. The Vines is the oldest of the suburbs.... most blocks here are around the 1 acre size, although there are some smaller blocks in the newer part of The Vines. It is a private estate and alot of the houses back onto the 2 golf courses. It is a quiet suburb with a real rural feel about it... quite common to see kangaroos on peoples front lawns here. Prices range from $400k for a townhouse to $2.5 million. Ellenbrook is a relatively new suburb... growing all the time... there are different villages located within Ellenbrook... Woodlake is the oldest it is approx 25 years old... some nice streests, some not so nice...The Bridges is a nice area with a mediteranean feel about it. Charolttes Vineyards is a newer area... nice houses. Coolamon is another new area along with Malvern Springs. House prices in Ellenbrook range from $350k to $650k. Henley Brook and Aveley are located next to Ellenbrook, Henley Brook is older than Aveley, both are private estates. Prices range from $400k to $1 million (for the larger equistrian estates in Henley Brook). We are surrounded by vineyards here in Swan Valley, we literally have about 50 vineyards on our doorstep. Along with fresh produce. We do get a little hotter here, as we don't get the freemantle doctor.... typically temps are on average about 4 degrees hotter here than Perth. Karen
  16. Hi all, We are leaving our rental here in Ellenbrook on 15th Dec. It is a lovely 4x2, with open theatre room, nice modern kitchen, open meals/family room, laundry, alfresco, garden. It is directly opposite lovely park, 10 min walk to Arbor Grove PS. 5 min drive to local shops, which has a Woolworths, petrol garage, and McDonalds!!!! Ellenbrook is right on the doorstep of the Swan Valley with lots of local wineries 10 min drive away!!!! Jooondalup Lakeside shopping centre is 30 mins drive, Morley Galleria shopping centre 20 mins, Mindarie Keys, and Hillarys Boat Harbour all within 30 mins, and only 45 mins to Perth CBD. IF you are interested we can send some photos. As said it is available from 15 Dec .... just in time for xmas. Sara
