1. Hi all, I'm a 31 year old professional looking for some new friends in Melbourne to hang out with (i.e. have a pint or 7 with). Been here for almost a year and not really had anyone to hang out with, apart from my girlfriend, but require some male company to meet in the pub and put the world to rights. Ideally you'd like sport, especially football and especially Bristol City (although that's unlikely!!) but I enjoy pretty much everyone's company. I'm a chilled out well travelled guy who enjoys life and love talking to new and interesting people. Get in touch if you want to meet up for a drink. Tom.

3. This will probs die a death because everyones too cool to breathe now arent they?!worried about looking(or sounding a beaut),i dont care,as yer can tell from some of my posts:biggrin: Anyway,DO people still have a singalong in the boozer/yer know the cockneys...Knees up mother brown etc etc,the welsh.......? We allways used to of a weekend, yer HAD to get up and give a song, these are some of my fav ones, mainly i like Irish songs for singalongs, but also some Liverpool ones..........so some quiet ballads and some a bit more raucous:smile: This was top at the chorus bit, about a hundred people joining in and banging bottles and glasses on the table, happy drunken nights! Loved singing this one,so descriptive of old Liverpool, the seafaring traditions, the girls, the catholic and protestant religious divides etc:notworthy: Im NOT saying im a good singer btw! i just didnt care:jiggy:
4. Well i was 15 years old when i first went into a pub and bought my first drink, i'm a big guy and i probably looked a tad older, but i recall going into my local pub with 12 and a half pence and asked for a half pint of Falstaff bitter, which tasted horrible. The barman looked at me and said ............ are you sure your 18 and i mumbled .............. YES. I was shaking as i said it, but from that moment on i was IN and it was a fantastic new world, drinking beer and playing pool with my mates and i saved every penny up to go there every weekend. How old were you when you started drinking regular in pubs?

Drinking before a medical

I know this will probably sound stupid, but we have booked a medical for two days after a big birthday party - would drinking a few too many cocktails affect the medical? Has anyone had experience of this? I will probably just not drink to be sure, but I would still like to know! Thanks

Are you drinking more here?

Sad to say,but my intake of Alkofrol far exceeds the huge amount i consumed in the UK!Cor Blimey!obesity is a clear and present danger!Just when i am trying to address the issue, along comes the World Cup.Seems like there is always an excuse in OZ to partake in a li'l ole Drinkypoos!

legal drinking age?

hi all going to adelaide in april but whats the legal drinking age is it 18 like uk or 21 like usa many thanks dobba
11. In the UK we have private members clubs such as the british legion, conservative, liberal, labour clubs, CIU etc etc. My question is do they have these kinds of private members clubs / drinking establishments in Oz, I am very much looking forward to going to OZ to live but have always been a member of these private members establishments as they provide (normally) a friendly family sort of safe haven for people who enjoy a good drink with a bit of entertainment on weekends If these clubs do exist are the membership costs sensible. If they dont exist then i want to open one when i get there! would this be possible! I currently sit on a committee in one in the UK as the Secretary/club manger and have real hunger for this, also grown up in bars all my life so i understand 99% aspects of running bars Thanks and look forward to soem responses Buzz:laugh:

13. I recently went on a Scruffy Bunch Winery Tour to the Yarra Valley from Melbourne. I have to say it was an excellent experience. The guides were really wine savvy and had great relaxed approach to wine appreciation. Apparently they also do tours to the local breweries. I advise to anyone that likes wine to check them out.
