  1. Hi all, Its a bit of a long shot but I’m wondering if anyone on this site know anyone or them themselves have successfully applied for permanent skilled migration under Drainer, or who have worked as a Sewer Technician (unblocks, cctv, repair and maintenance work etc) My partner has worked as a sewer technician for 10+ years in the UK, we are currently in Australia on a 457. We are looking into PR via subclass 190 visa but it seems to apply as a ‘Drainer’ you need to have experience and qualifications in Gas and Plumbing also? My partner doesn’t have any gas experience but has some minor plumbing experience but no qualifications. He has qualifications in Jetting and CCTV work etc which we believe aren’t enough for the skill assessment. Any personal experiences from anyone who has been in a similar situation/ any other visa recommendations would be much appreciated!

    Drainer Assessment

Hi, first time posting so please be gentle! My husband is a Groundworker in the UK. His job covers all of the skills under Drainer on the SOL. Unfortunately as he has no formal qualifications (other than machine licences) we are unable to get a TRA assessment. TRA have told me our best option is for him to obtain an AQF III certificate, however the highest you can go is AQF II for Drainer and I can't for the life of me find anybody who will assess him based on 20 years experience. He's not a plumber so not sure a plumbing AQF assessment would be of any use (he'd probably fail). Is anybody else in the same position as us? I've read a few posts on here about this but nothing too recent... Be very grateful for any advice. many thanks Alex
  4. Hi, hoping to get a visa as a skilled migrant as a Drainer. I dont have any qualifications only work experience including work exp' in Oz as a Drainer including a reference from when I was there on a working holiday. I thought I would need to be assessed by TRA from looking at the criteria for the visa but now Im thinking I dont because the occupation isn't on the list as a nominated occupation? Does anyone know what needs to be done? Drainer is on the SOL, is it possible to migrate over on a GSM visa as a Drainer without a sponsor. I feel like I have gone around in circles on this one! cheers
  5. We are still trying to find the facts on obtaining AQF III for my hubby, who's skill match this of a Drainer. We are still waiting to hear from the Migration Agent, as he informed us it would not be possible to do in the UK. He has told us he is looking into Underground Pipefitting? My husband took the call, So didnt question him, like i owuld of hoped. I cannot see why or how this would help us with Stat sponsorship visa? Has anyone completed this for Drainer? Any information would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

    working as drainer

Hi all Myself, partner & 3 kids are going for our medicals tomorrow. I,m really excited as i feel we,re at the final hurdle and it,s starting to feel real now, but my partners worried about finding work. I,ve looked at a few sites and we can never find any vacancies for drainers (he,s not a plumber). We will be landing in Sydney but are willing to move if work requires us to. If anyone has any info on this type of work i would really appreciate it, thanks a bunch.

  8. Hi We've just started to look at moving to Oz on a Skilled Visa as H is currently doing a bricklaying qualification. I've been reading a few of the threads on this forum though and it seems like work is really drying up in this field. H is currently a drainer although has no formal qualifications in this line but I'm wondering if this is a better skill to go over with. Does anyone have any idea what formal qualification would be neede for this? I don't know where to start looking. My work is in IT Support which is also on the "in demand" list so hopefully between us we should be ok (fingers crossed)
