Next weekend is the 5 day Easter weekend. Me and the OH have taken the Thursday and the following Wednesday off work, giving us 7 days. We just bought a new car (Accord Euro) and were hoping to take it for a roadtrip and see some of the state. I'm working on my music playlists at the moment, as is she. Do you think this route is achievable, It works out to be around 1800km: Sydney Lithgow Mudgee Sofala Orange Parkes Forbes Cowra Young Wagga Wagga Tumut Perisher Blue Jindabyne Cooma Canberra Goulburn Kangaroo Valley Bowral Can anyone suggest any things to do in any of the destinations, particularly the middle areas from Orange to Wagga? How long should we spend in key areas and how many of them are simply 'just pass through' areas? I had earmarked night stops in Mudgee, Forbes, Tumut/Perisher, Canberra and the Kangaroo Valley - though we are not going to book accommodation, just see where we end up. And finally, if you feel up to it, name your recommended roadtrip songs? (try and limit it to three)
Hi everyone Would like some helpful tips/advice etc please..... Yesterday my o/h spoke to a well respected migration agent, who informed him it may just be do-able to get visa's etc approved to get us into Aus before the July changes. My o/h is 41 this year, a sparky without an apprenticeship behind him (trained as a mature student). We have been advised not to go via the Vetasses route but via Vic Uni (although the agent doesnt have much to go on, as it may appear that this may be new for the Uni? so the agent as yet has no info on where/how the test is taken or the results), as in july he will need to prove he done his training via an apprenticeship etc. I have now realised our passports are years out of date, so we will now need to get these done!!! So does anyone know any of the following: * How soon (should we go via an agency) do they need passport info, as its going to at least 4 weeks till we get them back with the relevent info on them * Anyone got results, or even how/when/where Victoria Uni carries out its test/exams etc * And finially in your opinions is it do-able, as we & the agent feel this may well be our last chance to get to Aus, as July isnt that far away & what with pasports, tests, visa's, medicals etc are we cutting just way too fine, & should save our money? This has been our dream/goal for the last 10 years plus & o/h even trained as a sparky to get us out there????? Many many thanks in advance:arghh:
MAYBE thinking of flying to Oz with the children to see their Dad who has emigrated there. IF we did, it could be a nice thing for the four year old who has never been and is asking questions, not only to see her Dad but also to be able to understand what it is like there and how far away etc so she can visualise him there when she comes home. Those of you who know my situation will probably understand there would obviously be a lot to think about in terms of the downsides of going, emotions etc, whether I should even contemplate it etc etc but before I even start thinking about it, what I want to know is....... could I manage a flight (well, two with the transfer) on my own with a seven month old baby (or whatever he would be by the time we flew) and a four year old?? I guess there would be problems with managing luggage, would the baby even fit in the bassinet, how could I feed him if he wasn't strapped in (i.e no highchairs!), how would I be able to breastfeed without his feet lying across another passenger  i couldn't possibly do that to someone :embarrassed: he is very active and wriggly and would probably not sleep as would be surrounded by people and he wouldn't want to miss anything! Would not be fun for me or the poor passengers around us! Like I said, we probably won't go anyway, but just wanted to know if anyone had flown solo with a baby and had any thoughts?
