    DIMIA Xmas Break

Does anyone know if DIMIA closes for a long Christmas break? If so when does it start and for how long? I'm wondering whether to wait until they come back from their break before sending our visa application off - I don't want it burried beneath tons of untended post for days on end  Karen
  3. Hi All, According to the ASPC the delay in acknowledging visa applications won't affect the date your application was received by them even though the delay can be 2 months for acknowledging receipt. That is what is says on their blurb for the latest processing dates. Can anyone confirm this? Its the date they received your visa application or the date the acknowledgement letter was received. Just noticed it is not actually dated. Looking for some good news here so please ...... make my day! Thanks. Sue

    DIMIA and Work

Ok, this is a bit convoluted. My previous employer had me on a three month notice period and, for various reasons, I thought it best that I leave. So I did. I started a new job last week and sent off the relevant change of details form to the DIMIA. The visa application itself was lodged in late November last year. Here's the problems: 1) I hate the job. Really truly. I don't think I can realistically do it for the next six months without going nuts. 2) It's a very long bus journey to work - adding three hours travelling time to my day. 3) Our house has sold and we're moving out on the 7th April to stay in rented accomodation. This means that I'll most likely have *further* to travel to keep the kids in school. In an ideal world, I'd give up the crap job in April and do some contracting / consultancy until the visa results are in. The trouble is, I've just told DIMIA about the new job! Does anyone know if DIMIA actually contact the employer to see if you're still there? Regards Choobs
  5. Hi all, Had interview with Royal Adelaide Hospital last night who offered me a job. They have to check my references but will send me an official letter confirming it The DIMIA have requested our medicals and pcc's which we frontloaded so are now waiting for our visa :? The question is should I ask my agent to contact DIMIA to inform them I have a job offer and could they give an estimation of when we will get our visa as I have had to tell the hospital I don't know and they are holding open the job for me. I think it would be fair of me to give them an expected arrival date? Also, do you think the DIMIA may process our visa faster if I have a job offer? The thing is, theyve also asked for my partners daughter to have a medical even though she isn't coming with us and isn't dependent on us???? So that held us up but her medical has gone now. She is doing a police check for us as well incase they ask for one but that's going to take ages. So, the point is, we really having got a clue how long it's going to take for our visas now!!!! Any replies greatly appreciated Thanks, Angela x

    Heard Back from DIMIA

Hi, feel I have to share as no one else understands. I had phone call from our agent this morning saying that she has heard back from dimia and that they have requested police and health checks  !!. We have our health checks on Friday and our police checks are due back by the 7th Feb. also requested 4 years financial statement and taxation documents but all that is ok so hopefully this means we should have our visa soon !! has any one else also had this requested, our agent said this has been the norm for the past two months, yipee as we are about to exchange on our house and move in with mil so as of yesterday was feeling very anxious but this morning woke up to this !! Can anyone else confirm that the new processing times for the DIMIA is now 6 months? :?: We have been told by our migration agent that the new processing time will take at least 6 months and that they received this new information this week! IS THIS TRUE, if you know please relpy.
  8. WE GOT OUR SIR VISA TODAY    For a quick visa its taken a long time - 15 Weeks from when they received our meds. To say we were getting anxious is an understatement. Bubbly is in the fridge chilling - if Dunc is lucky there might be some left when he gets home from work!! Can't belive it at the moment - currently looking like the Cheshire Cat who found the lid off the M&S extra thick double cream For all of you still waiting - Good Luck Heather
