    Changing Surname as a PR

Hi guys, Couldn't find any answers when I searched so hoping to get some advice on the following: Single British guy in his early 30s living in Oz on a 189 visa. British passport is almost full so needs replacing in the next year or so Eligible for citizenship in <12 months I've been meaning to change my surname for a while for personal reasons, and given the above, it seems like a good time to do it, prior to getting potentially 2 new passports. However, I don't really know where to start: Am I best going through the process in the UK first, then doing it here, or will I need to do both simultaneously? Has anyone changed their name in the UK before without being physically there? I realise my scenario is somewhat unconventional as I'm a guy, so have heard there is reluctance for institutions to go through a formal process, so particularly keen to hear about others who have been through this. Thanks for any help,
  2. Anybody can throw some light on my matter. I have applied ve 175 visa on OCT. 2008. That time I have submitted DIVORCE DEED made under Registrar. Later I have came to know that DIAC need Court Divorce decree and i have submit pitition in court to declare my Divorce deed legal and valid. After long time court gave me Divorce decree and said that your Divorce deed is legal and valid on MAY-2010. So what to do now? Can I submit Court Divorce decree now to DIAC? Need some Advice on it.

    The Deed is done

Hi Guys Well last Sunday my OH booked our flights to Brisbane, we leave here on the 8th December. He also booked us into an apartment in Chermside for 4 weeks so that we can explore the 2 areas that we are interested in, but you never know due to work etc.. these places could change! We have not sold the house (are we mad), we have decided that all 4 of us will go and if the worse comes to the worse then Oh will come back after Christmas and I will stay with the boys as we really need to get them into school as they will be going into years 10 and 11 so quite crucial really. Where do we start when we get there:goofy: The ball is rolling faster now lol x

    The deed is done...

Hey! Well we got the visa on 3rd July (after 10 months), our buyers had our house surveyed on the same day (fate?) and we have to validate by 18th Jan, so... We took the plunge... Sunday 28th December one way to Adelaide on Malaysian £695 each. We would just like to say thanks to all my PIO friends who have supported us when we needed it most, or make us laugh when we wanted to cry... THANKS :wubclub: Needless to say we will be celebrating, along with kdal and anyone else who has been granted their visa since our last essex meet, next Sunday at the Halfway house - make mine a double!!
  6. Hi all, Please dont laugh at what i am just about to type:embarrassed: I have 2 german shepherds , 1 3 1/2 yr old girl (white) and a 17 mth old boy(gold sable), now we are in the process of applying for a 457 visa, we have the job offer and now have an imm agent and we are in the process of getting all the paperwork, doc etc that the company etc require, We are awaiting our new passports before we can proceed any further as you need passport numbers for police checks etc, and also awaiting ref from hubbies previous employer's, now we had decided thast we could not afford to bring our 2 lovely dogs as it would have cost us £7000 to take them over , and this would have seriously eaten into our equity we are hoping to make on our property,(its been on the market 2 weeks), as we have to pay for 4 children to go to school as the job offer is in NSW, so that will cost us about $20000 for the 4 of them. unless we can discuss the company paying some or part of this for us which i understand they may do if we ask, i was told to ask by someone else . Right now our girl dog has come into season just over a week and a half ago and our young man dog, had been showing interest in her, when he tried to do the dirty deed we stopped him imediately, and the time before she was in season he did all the actions but no bullseye, so we thought this time would be the same, Well on monday he got bullseye and now i am panicking, dont get me wrong , i know all about breeding and puppies as i have dont this before 10 yrs ago, we did have the 2 and intended to breed them ,but then made the decision to migrate , so anyways back to the story, now the girl is pregnant for 9 weeks ok and then you can find homes for the puppies at between 6 and 8 weeks, now there is no way i am going to take my girl down to the vets to have the litter culled etc, but the bottom line question really is can i prolong the visa slightly by taking a little time to send the paperwork of etc i have told the time scale is anything from 8-12 for the visa to be done, we still havent sold our house also so this would help a little time wise also, any suggestions anyone michell

    Deed done

I've just come back from telling my parents of our plans. I'd got so stressed about it but they were fantastic. Both of them can totally understand our reasons for giving it a go and I think they may even think about joining us. Mum hates flying so it would be a huge decsion for her, but as I pointed out she'd only have to do it once and then she'd have both her children and the grandchildren in one country again. We'll see though.
