Hello, My partner and I moved over about 2 months ago with my job, we are going for PR and know we are here long term, all is going great and we love the new outdoor lifestyle. The only issue is lack of friends, we go out lots during the day at weekends but seem to spend a lot of the evenings on Skype to friends and family, which is great but I know we need to break the routine and make a new life here. I do reply in earlier threads on the same subject but starting to worry as don't seem to be getting any real responses! Hoping for friends of all ages (we are mid 30's), for drinks, barbecues and just having fun. Thanks for reading. Tracy:biggrin:

Hi Everyone, We are new in Oz and moved 2 weeks ago from the city to Dee Why. We are really excited to be close to the beach and enjoy beachside living :-) I have been checking out this website for months but was too shy to join...but have now!! So if anyone else is new to Dee Why and wants to get together let us know. We have moved from country to country the last year so we excited to settle and are looking to met new people. Though we find it hard too out here...So if anyone else is in the same boat let us know. We are in our early 30's. Have a great day!! Alex

What the general thought on the Dee Why suburb in Sydney? Safe? Family friendly? Public transport? I did a search for Dee Why on the forum but nothing came up.

Hi All, My GF and I have been in Sydney for just over 3 weeks and are loving it, despite Claire having a broken foot! We have managed to get out and about. We could really do with making new friends though as all the people I work with are boys into their IT and not really up for socializing much. And I am not feeling homesick other than missing friends. If anyone fancies a coffee/meal something stronger please let me know. Have a great week Tracy x

Hello all, This is my first time on this so ... here goes! My OH is originally from Perth WA and we've decided to move from UK to Sydney end of next year (2010). We've got 2 children aged nearly 6 and 2.5 and I was wondering if any of you have any experience/knowledge of St Luke's Grammar School in Dee Why? I've been trawling the internet and for some reason it really stood out. We are hoping to settle in Northern Beaches (somewhere!) and I am so so so excited (no doubt this will wear off as the stress of house selling etc etc kicks in!). Also, my mum (widow) is coming with us and will hopefully get her Parental Visa although she can't apply for this until we are officially renting somewhere in Oz. They do seem to make it a bit hard for parents to come out with their kids (I'm an only child and we've not got any other family here in UK who we really know). Again, any advice or experience of this? So glad that this site exists! Elaine. :v_SPIN::jiggy:

Northern Beaches - what is dee why like? is Avalon commutable to the city?
hogand posted a topic in New South Wales
Hi all, I am moving to Oz shortly on a 457 visa and looking to live in the northern beaches area. From looking at schools, there is one in Dee Why which may suit us. What is dee why like to live in, would you recommend it, any pros and cons of the area and is it easy commute to teh city via public transport? also, some of the houses up Avalon way look amazing quality compared to what you get down Manly way for the same price. Is Avalon a realistic option if Im working in the city? hope some one can advise and help -

Hi We are in the process of seriously thinking of moving to Sydney and Dee Why/Curl Curl would be our preferred locations..... so I have a few questions for you all! Mosquitos/Flies - are there any around? Nurseries (we have an 8 month old) - are there some decent ones? Schools - what are they like?Public/Private? Area - is it friendly/safe? Is it family centered? Property - Average rental p/w for a 4 bedroomed house? Average to buy price for the same. Have looked on realestate.com.au - just wanted an on the ground opinion! Anything else we should consider? Thanks everyone, this forum is fab!:notworthy:
