  1. A quick reminder - particularly for those who have moved to Australia since the 1st of July 2019 - that those individuals who are required to submit a tax return with the Australian Tax Office have until the 31st of October 2020 to lodge their 2020 income tax return if a registered tax agent is not instructed. You can check whether you are required to submit a 2020 Australian tax return at this web page. To lodge your 2020 tax return you can: Lodge online with myTax through myGov, or Complete a paper tax return form and mail it to the Australian Taxation Office, or Use a registered tax agent If you use a registered tax agent to prepare and lodge your tax return you should be able to submit later than the 31st of October 2020 - quite possibly until mid-May next year. You should though appoint a registered tax agent before the 31st of October 2020 to access the extended 2020 tax return filing deadline. Best regards.
  2. A reminder that HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) must receive your 2019 personal UK tax return and any money you owe in respect of the year to the 5th of April 2019 by the 31st of January 2020. If you have been issued with a Notice to File a 2019 UK tax return the return must be completed and lodged if a late filing penalty is to be avoided. Penalties start at £100 if your tax return is received by HMRC a day late. An additional daily penalty at the rate of £10 per day is added if the tax return remains outstanding more than 3 months after the due date (with a maximum daily penalty of £900), with additional penalties arising if the tax return remains outstanding more than 6 months after the due date for filing. These penalties apply even if there is no tax to pay. If a balance of tax is payable for the 2018/19 UK tax year and has not been paid by the end of January 2020 interest will start to accrue. Best regards.

    Avoid that fine!

The 2019 UK tax return filing deadline is now less than 2 months away. This tax return can now only be submitted electronically - the deadline for sending paper 2019 tax returns to HMRC was the end of October 2019. If you: * Have a 2019 UK tax return to submit, and * Are not resident in the UK, or moved to the UK during the year to 5th April 2019 you will need to submit your 2019 UK tax return using tax software, or through a tax accountant who submit UK tax returns using the accountant's tax software. A UK tax return in such circumstances should include a Residence supplement (form SA109) which cannot be submitted through the HMRC Gateway. Best regards.
  4. https://www.ato.gov.au/Individuals/Lodging-your-tax-return/Lodge-with-a-registered-tax-agent/ A reminder that the 2019 Australian tax return filing deadline is now less than a month away - unless you have appointed a registered tax agent to represent you. Most registered tax agents have a special lodgment program with the Australian Taxation Office and can lodge returns for their clients after the usual 31 October deadline. If you want to appoint a tax agent in respect of your 2019 Australian tax return you need to contact the agent before 31 October 2019 to take advantage of their lodgment program due dates. Best regards.
  5. Oh well, was hoping to have heard back from Vetassess by now so I can pay for practical! Looks like it'll have to be October now if successful. Nevermind, only sent paper assessment on the 10th May so was pushing it abit... Anybody in the same boat?:arghh:
  6. IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO ALL THOSE YET TO LODGE THEIR 176 VISA WITH WA SS Hi all, please see the following message I received from my agent today who are preparing our visa application; 'We heard from Western Australia today saying that they require all signed agreements to be with them before the 21st of June. We cannot send the signed agreement to them until the application is lodged. As this is the case I would strongly recommend having all documentation into me by the 15th of June so that we can lodge the application and have the agreement sent on before the 21st. Hope this is of help. Thanks, Lucy.

Deadline after 175 visa has been granted

Hello, Hope somebody can help! I am just about to lodge an application for a 175 visa which by my reckoning will take approx 18months to process. Once processed is there a deadline by which you must come to Australia (& live) after the visa has been granted? This must have been discussed before but I have had a look and not found anything! Thanks, Stephen
  10. Hello! My husband has applied to an ACT state sponsored visa and the application was received on the 23rd of may 2011. Does it sound impossible that it will be accepted before the 1st of July deadline? If it isn't done by then, what happens to the application? Also, do you think we should get our medicals done now or wait and see? We are off to France for the summer so i am not sure we can get it done there and approved by the australians authorities... so maybe best to do it now but i don't want to risk paying for the medicals if the visa application gets refused... Catch 22! Many thanks, Sophie and Dominic

Woohoo we made the SA SS deadline- application shows full set of documents recieved!! I have to say a huge big thankyou to greo2908 on here, they are a lovely couple who offered to help us with our courier nightmare and really if they hadn't we wouldn't have made this deadline :hug: Thanks to everyone else who has offered advice and heres hoping to be in Oz asap:biggrin:
  12. Just been on Southern Australia website and there is a notice about lodging your state sponsorship, all docs (hard copies etc) have to be lodged to SA before 2nd MAY as they are closing their system etc. So all of you out there who are applying to SA for Sponsorship need to get everything in to them by 2ND MAY 2011, otherwise they will not process your application under the current points system, they will be processed under the new points system coming in in JULY 2011.

    Clarification please

Looking for some clarity. Present Situation: My husband is about to submit his Skills Assessment Application to the TRA. Question: There is an option for 2 payments, first is $650 for paper based assessment on all occupations and second is $1550 for Technicial Interview. Do we choose both assuming he will get a technicial interview, can't understand why they give you the option of choosing one or all? I believe the timescale for this is 8 weeks. Then we can apply for State Sponsorship and then Full Visa via DIAC. I am currently expecting and baby is due in 11 weeks? Considering the deadline for the visa application is July 1st, do we wait until baby is here before completing the application or apply as we are now (assuming we get the skills assessment & state sponsorship) and add baby at a later date? is this possible? does it incur costs? Thanks Highlanders

    1st July 2011 Deadline

Hello there I am fairly new to the site and I am hoping for some advice. I am a Chartered Management Accountant and lucky enough to be on the SOL. Having done my research and taken the various points tests I can see that at the moment I have enough points for the 175 visa. I have read various articles about the points test changing on 1st July 2011, again I pass the necessary points target. Is there still a SOL list which is a pre-requisit to the points test as there seems little mention of this in the articles on immi.gov.uk? If I did choose to enter my application now how quickly does it take to have my points assessed and to get an answer to move onto the next stage? Any help would be much appreciated! Cheers!

    July 1st deadline

Probably a daft question but just want to check I am just about to send payment for skills Cert and hoping I can get that sorted, then skills assesment with TRA and then can send off Visa application. Question is once Visa application is in and assuming I get that done before 1st July, will I have to meet the points system as it is now? or will I still have to meet the new points system once they come in? sorry if this is a daft question but I want to know I meet the points system before starting to spend hard earned cash
  16. Hi there Can someone shed any light on this. We are persuing the 176 state sponsorship visa and the initial stage in the process is to have skills assessed with VETASSESS. We want to get this done well before the July deadline for changes to the visa points system. So having looked at the VETASSESS website and a schedule of assessment dates for the UK, it seems Februrary is the last date on the calender. Anyone know where to go from here? Also couldn't see where the assessment takes place, is there various locations around the country? We're in the highlands of Scotland, so long way to travel if not. Thanks for reading, hope someone has some advice.

    IELTS deadline

Changes to the time of provision of evidence of English language ability There are new arrangements for the provision of evidence for English language ability. Applicants for the following GSM subclasses have until the time of decision to provide evidence of their English language ability. Skilled – Independent (Residence) visa (subclass 885) Skilled – Sponsored (Residence) visa (subclass 886) Skilled – Independent (Migrant) visa (subclass 175) Skilled – Sponsored (Migrant) visa (subclass 176) Skilled – Provisional (Regional Sponsored) visa (subclass 475) Skilled – Provisional (Recognised Graduate) visa (subclass 476) Skilled – Provisional (Graduate) visa (subclass 485) (where the application was made on or after 27 October 2008). Applicants should not delay in providing their evidence of English language ability. The department will not delay finalising applications where English language test results have not been provided at time of application. Applicants will have 28 days from the date of application to provide their English language results if they did not provide them at time of application. At this point in time, if evidence has not been provided the application will be refused. There is no change in the requirements for Skilled – Provisional (Graduate) visa (subclass 485) where the application was made before 27 October 2008 or the Skilled Provisional (Regional Sponsored) visa (subclass 487). The applicant must either provide evidence of English language ability at time of application or provide evidence that they have made a booking to undertake an English language test ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What I have posted above is an excerpt from "What's New? Recent Changes in General Skilled Migration" in the DIAC homepage. This notice came up around April 2010. I am confused with the two mutually contradictory statements that are in red. When is the actual deadline for IELTS results once I have submitted the application? Also, are the results to be sent by post directly from the test centre, and if so how long would it take for that? Any info/ideas would be highly appreciated. Just got 1month to apply before VIC SMP expires, and don't wanna miss it again due to an English test! btw, the online application states something like this: IMPORTANT NOTE: You must provide evidence of your English language ability, or evidence that an English language test has been booked (Skilled - Regional Sponsored (Subclass 487) visa applicants only) when you lodge this application. Failure to do so may result in you being unable to satisfy the criteria for this visa, and this application may be refused. Does this mean having registered for IELTS before submitting the visa app would suffice? I live in the middle of nowhere (Japan) and my next available test date is 15th Jan!!! Chandi
  18. Hi there am hoping someone has been through this before - we are returning later this year and my son is now applying to unis in UK through UCAS. We want to make a case for domestic fees based on the fact that my son was a minor when we came two years ago and therefore he had no choice but to come with us. We have to state on the UCAS form our postal and residential addresses which are currently Australia. We have been advised by a colleague in Uk to put down parents address in UK as residential address ( where our UK bank accounts, credit cards etc.. are registered to), but it is obvious from rest of form ( school details , references etc) that we are still in OZ. We thought we could put Oz down as postal address and UK down as permanent home address. We dont want to get in any trouble and affect his chances of getting in. Has anyone done anything similar?? Thanks for any help of advice you might have.
  19. Just thought people need to be made aware that they only have one year from entering the country to take out private health insurance without being penalised. This applies to anyone over the age of 30 in Australia. Basically, for every year you are over 30, you have an additional 2% added onto your premium, so if you are say 40, your insurance would have a 20% mark up. To avoid this all you need to do is take out insurance within your first year of arriving in Australia. I found out completely by accident when I was ringing around to get quotes today. Thank goodness I did! I guess if you never intend to take it out it doesnt matter but if you do intend to but just have not got round to it, it could be a costly oversight. Australian's have to take it out by the time they are 30 or the 2% starts to run straight away. I guess the Government do it to encourage people to take it out asap. I may of course be the only person who didnt realise this but in case I am not thought I'd bring it to everyone's attention. Rach :wubclub:
  20. Hi there. I just seem to have bad luck. I was given up until 14 of August for all the added infomation to be given in for my 175 application. We had our medicals on the 3rd of July, and then had problems with my chest xray, had all relevant tests and investigations, i thought at last my luck has changed, so i was told last monday that the documents would be ready for collection at the doctors on Tuesday, what they failed to tell me was that the doctors surgery was closed on Tuesday, we have tried several times for the documents to be collected, but the bouncers ( sorry - doctors recpetionists!) wouldn't let them be released. So i know that they will not have received all the relavent info by the 14th, i have tried to email them but have had no reply. How flexible is the deadline i have been given considering the health problems that delayed the process?
  21. Does anybody know, what is the term for attaching documents to an online visa application? (subclass 175) I have almost all evidence now, and plan to lodge my visa application online on next Monday. (just 2 days before my 40th birthday) Unfortunately I still don't get my IELTS Test Report Form, although I sat the test on 23rd July, and can check my results since 5th August on the IELTS website. What do you think, should I lodge my application, attach all the documents I have, and after getting the IELTS Test Report Form lodge it too? Should it be a problem if I can do it only on or after my 40th birthday next Wednesday? When does DIAC confirm an application, right after it was lodged, or just after ALL the required evidences are attached? Or simply the TRN number which I will hopefully get right after I lodged my application means, that DIAC accepted my application? Of course I don't want lose 5 points.
  22. Hi all Please contribute. I m starting this thread because people get 2 types of deadlines by their C.Os., some get 28 days which is not a long wait, others get 70 days which is a long- long wait. Just to cut short the wait m going to start this. Please all those who had been given 70 days time limit to submit the required documents by there case officer, can you post your timelines i.e. 1) Date of allocation of C.O.,(number of days given by ur C.O. to send requested documents.) 2) Date on which required documents uploaded. 3) Date visa granted. Those who had been given 28 days deadline are alse welcome provided they mention it clearly in first point. Thanks Raahulraana
  23. Hi there I'll be submitting a citizenship application under the old 2-year residency rule in June 2010, but I'm wondering about the statutory deadline day quoted in the relevant legislation. Guidance on the citizenship website states "If people became permanent residents before 1 July 2007 and apply before 30 June 2010 they must have been physically present in Australia as a permanent resident for a total of two years...." etc etc. As I'm running very tight on time with my qualifying residency days I'm keen to find out whether the submission deadline is actually 29 June 2010, as the guidance states "before 30 June 2010", not "on or before 30 June 2010". I know there are no test cases because we haven't reached 30/10/2010 yet, but can any migration consultants who've worked with deadline dates in the past (and who therefore know how the immigration department applies its dates) be able to advise please? Many thanks Andy
  24. Hi all, We had our case officer on the 24/02/09, after changing from a 175 to a QLD SS176. They asked for more info re job description, proof of earnings and more evidence about our defacto relationship. All this info was given submitted by about 2nd week of March, the deadline was for 24/03/09. Meds & PCs for UK & Portugal submitted late Feb 09, shows on line that meds finalised 26/02/09. We were just wondering if anyone else has been in the same situation and how long after deadline passed did they reopen the application? We are just worried that with all the changes going on that it may now be pushed to one side and left for a while, my trade is motor mechanic which has now been removed from the CSL. Thanks in advance for any info Jim Bob
