  1. Hello friends, I have applied for child visa for my kid but now me and my wife are planning to apply for a tourist visa for my kid. My wife already have PR. We have been discussing how situations will be once we come there. And after all that, we are confused. We need suggestion\advice from experts or from someone who already experienced it. My son is now 4 months old and we are planning to travel somewhere in december\january (by that time my baby will turn 9-10 months). My wife may not work till our kid turns 1 year. After that we are planning for a daycare. Which daycare will be good and affordable (our budget 2000/month)? Is the daycare good enough to handle annoying kids :)? Which suburb is suitable to settle (considering the nearby vegetable market, grocery stores, good public school, etc)? Thanks in advance, Pratap

  3. The IKEA store in Sydney has set up "Manland", a daycare for men who are fed up of shopping with their partner. They can play the xbox, eat hot dogs and watch sports, while the women go shopping. Why couldn't they continue this? Everyone wins in the end.

    C&K or daycare

Hi All My 3 year old son is currently in daycare and we planned on keeping him there until he starts school in Jan 2013 as he seems pretty happy there. However, today I have had a phonecall offering him a place at the local C&K to start in Jan so Im wondering if we should move him. I never thought we would get a place for him in C&K as he was so far down on the list but I put his name down here anyway when we moved here to give us the option.... My question is, does anybody have any children that attends a C&K centre, and are they any better than a kindy in a daycare centre? The place he has been offered is at Manly C&K in Brisbane.... Thanks Rach x
  5. Does anyone have first hand experience in getting involved in a child daycare business, either buying one or managing one? Is childcare big business over in Perth? Hubby and I are seriously thinking about investing in a business of some sort and with my childcare/teaching experience and his business experience we feel we could make a go of it - I'd have someone managing it for me but I'd be the on the clerical/accounts/financial side rather than childcare as I don't have formal daycare qualifications, only 11 years experience! Anyone's experiences of buying a business in Oz would be appreciated. Karen xx

    Childcare in OZ !!!

Hi all, We are looking at emigrating next year and i am currently doing general research (like you do !) into property, areas etc in brisbane. I have read the many threads on education as i have a 2 and half year old girl who will be ready to start school in australia by the time we arrive at xmas 2009. However, i am 33 weeks pregnant with my second and due in november. In 2009/2010 the baby will be 1 year old and i will need to look into child care. I obviously want to settle first and husband will be working (we hope :skeptical:) but then i will need to get a job :arghh: !! Does anybody know what kind of prices nurserys/daycare start from in oz ? Are they similar prices to here ( hope not !!) Or if its the same policy with registered childminders.. how much they cost ? I am managing to get alot of my other info needed from various other threads. Hope to hear from some of you soon !!, Poppy toes x
