  2. Hi members, I was wondering if somebody could tell me how the job market is in Australia at the moment? We are moving to Adelaide in February and my hubby is a CNC Operator/Programmer. Is it normal that potential employers don't answer when you apply from Europe for a job? Some did in our case, kellyservices for example did not reply. I think we are to early for applications, aren't we? Thanks a lot.
  3. Hello members, hubby and me are just preparing to make the move in February. I was wondering if somebody living in Australia could tell us how the labour market is at the moment? We are going to Adelaide/South Australia. Hubby is a CNC operator (TRA recognition as a fitter/general). Hopefully there are enough job vacancies for trades worker. Thanks a lot for replies. Regards, Rabeah
  4. Hey. My Auntie who is an Australian citizen is kindly helping me out with the visa process (I'm looking at an 856 visa, failing that a 176 state sponsored in WA). These both need the TRA Migration Skills Assessment. My auntie is good friends with an immigration agent. Apparantly she told my aunt that its very important to include (on the employment statement) 5 tasks which I have learnt with my current employer. Does anybody else know if this is the case. And if so, can't these said "5 tasks" just be in the "workk in my own words" section. Thanks in advance.

    Current Address

Hi All, I'm in a confused state now. Really need your advice here ... Well, first of all, we will be flying in to Canberra on the 27 Sep. We booked the flights early this year and was thinking that we would be able to settle all the business here back home. But we are wrong, looking at the situation now, we might need to fly back after the 4 weeks stay in Canberra. So will be leaving Canberra after 24 Oct for awhile. For the 4 weeks we have had a furnished apartment booked at Reid. We would try to sort out TFN, Medicare, Bank, Driver's Licence, etc.. during the 4 weeks stay in Canberra. Now our questions are: 1) Can we open TFN with the temporary holidays apartment address? 2) How about Driver's Licence, do we need to proof our current residency ? can we use the temporary address? 3) Bank .. we had registered online with NAB, and started transferred fund into it when rate is good. When we reach we will go to activate the account showing our passport, do we need to also provide them with the address? Please advice .. Many thanks!!

    Current 457 Processing times??

Just about to submit our 457 visa - anybody have any experience on current processing times for Sydney?? Thanks
  9. We did the the health exmination on 20 June 2011 and HOC received our health reports on 29 June 2011. However, now the health requirements have still now been cleared. I emailed HOC but they were quite impatient and just told me that the reported had been received. Could anybody tell me the current processing date of HOC? Thanks a lot. Chuncheng
  10. hi all, I have a concern regarding my current occupation and SOL. background: I am an electronic and telecommunication degree holder and currently working as a project manager in a telecommunication company. My designation goes as " Senior Executive - Technology project management". I successfully got my skills assessed as a telecommunication network engineer from engineers Australia. I want to claim 10 points for my 3 year working experience. Problem::confused: Will there be a problem to claim 10 points for specific work experience since my designation ( Senior Executive - Technology project management) not being exactly matched with "Telecommunication Network Engineer". But in my employer reference letter, under the job role almost everything matches with the job description of a Telecommunication Network Engineer. Thanks!
  11. Hi, I have had a read of the proposed changes to skilled migration program. What strikes me is a person like me, who is currently pursuing an accounting undergraduate degree will find it very difficult to get permanent residency unless I can score 8 in all 4 bands of IELTS. Let me illustrate my situation to you. I am 21 years old. I am currently pursuing an undergraduate accounting degree in gold coast, Queensland. I graduate in July next year. I am in the top 5% of my university in respect to grades. (says that on my transcript) I have already secured an accounting job, starting this month, will work full time during vacations and part- time during my next and last semester. My current IELTS score is 8 overall( 9 in listening and reading, 7.5 in speaking and 6.5 in writing). I have to give IELTS once again, and I am confident i can get 4x7 but 4x8 is a whole different story. Now it seems that because I will have to apply for a new visa in july/august next year, I wont have 1 year of work experience and hence wont get 5 points. With the new points test I will be on 55 points unless I score 8 in all 4 bands of IELTS. With the old points test I would be on 120, with which i could pass. My other option is to apply for a 487 temporary residency visa, which again is a 18 month visa. Even if I apply for that and work for the next 18 months after I graduate, I will still have only 2 years of work experience and will still get 5 points, which will still not be enough (this is assuming that the immigration rules stay the same for the next 2.5 years which is unlikely) So ultimately I have to somehow manage an 8 in IELTS to have a chance. I suspect every other student graduates soon (in the next year) will have to do the same, I cant see any other option. Is there any other option that I am overlooking? On a side note, It is virtually impossible to apply before July 1st, if my uni semester gets over around the 20th of june right?
  12. HI all - my first post here. My partner and I are both living in Australia and on our own 457 visas. Due to certain circumstances we are having to consider putting my partner onto my 457 Visa as defacto. We have been living together for over a year so dont see any problems from that point of view, but can anyone please advise me how one goes about doing this? Do we have to re-apply for a 457visa with both our names on the application or is another way? Any idea how long the process takes? Any advise, greatly appreciated Cheers

    405 visa current processing time

Hi, Anyone know the current processing time for WA (Perth), assuming 1249 already obtained please?
  14. Hi, My occupation is Group A on the VETASSESS groups of occupations. Amoungst other documentary evidence requirements is that i need to get a signed letter from my employer confirming the dates I started with them, main duties based on my occupation, working hours etc all on my employers official letter head and the person signing must be someone authorised to sign on behalf of the company and must also sign the bottom of the letter with their contact details and position within the company. My major concern is if VETASSESS do contact my employer to verify the letter etc as I will almost certainly be looking for a new job afterwards!!! I can probably get the letter using another excuse such as it's needed by a university i'm considering doing a Master Degree with or something along those lines, but if VETASSESS one day decide to phone my employer to confirm then i'm toast!!! Can anyone with experience confirm one way or the other?
  15. Howdy peeps! Well the husband has booked his ticket to do a reccie of Perth at Easter! And in the meantime we're collecting his evidence as a construction project mng for assessment. He's able to evidence this with 3yrs+ exp in the role in his prev job, but for the last 3 months he's been doing the role as a contractor. He's nervous to ask for a ref confirming this as it may jepodise his position. Is he able to submit a declaration explaining this? He can also evidence a degree in construction management which he completed last may. Thanks!
  16. Hi All, A little bit anxious now and would appreciate any help/advise i can get. Meds been referred and hasn't been finalized till now - a full 5 weeks:mad:. Anybody out there in the same boat? Hadn't heard anything from MOC (will they contact by email if there's a problem?). Panel doctor assured everything was ok when the meds were sent, so don't know why it's taking so awfully long to have it cleared. Wanted to believe it's all due to some backlog, but I haven't read from PIO anyone who's waiting as long as I am. Thanks.
  17. Hi I have a quick question- if we lodge our visa application before 1st July am I right in thinking that the new points test will not affect us? If changes are made to the SOL etc at that time will it affect applications already lodged or not?? Thanks
  18. Hi, there was a discussion recently on here about a company who we can contact to get english qualifications assessed to the equivalent of australian qualifications. Can anyone send me the link please? I just cannot find it anywhere. I have searched but nothing appears. I would like to get my NVQ4 assessed - but not sure who to approach. Thanks.
  19. Hi folks, We're brand new here, but hopefully will be posting a lot more as our attempt to move over gathers pace. I have a question for anyone who has experience in moving over with their company. I'm currently employed in the UK by a large IT company (think IBM-type), and am hoping to get them to sponsor me to migrate. If they agreed to do so, I was wondering how they might compare my current package in the UK in order to decide an Australian one. For example, I see that although the current GBPAUD rate is 1.6, the higher salaries in Oz imply a comparable wage would be around 2.1. I would hope a company would compare to the going rate of an equivalent job, but wonder if that is the case. Has anyone experienced such a move, and what common policy in large multinationals might be? Thanks! Damo

Can I change my current visa application?

Hi, Sorry to write on here again but I am very confused with it all! I have applied for a 475 visa SA SS. I put it is as an Office Manager on the 17th Sept 2009. I think this is a CAT 4 as I don't think my job will be on their new SMP list when it comes out. However, ACT have brought out there list and my job is on it. Can I swap my visa to this state? The visa would have to be a 176 though as they don't do 475. Would I have to pay for a brand new visa and apply again or just ask for a swap and apply for ACT sponsoship. Sorry to ask this again but I really need help as I am getting different messages off people. Thanks in advance for any help given Jo
  21. Hi all, Cracking forum... Does any know if you can update/revise a current visa aplication at a later stage if your circumstances change - even after you have already applied (especially if it can add points)??? Thanks for any help/guidance..... cm
  22. Hi I currently hold visa subclass 176 and will expire by 2014. However, I've been pondering to take up citizenship in another country. even after taking up my new citizenship, if I decided to go to Australia Would this have any adverse effect to my OZ visa that i'm holding? Please advise.
  23. Hi - I was wondering what the current jobs situation is around Perth for Welders. I can look on Seek and on The West via the internet, but you can't really get a feel for what the current job market is like. Thanks
  24. Hi Everyone I have been looking through a number of posts but can't seem to find any particularly recent ones for processing times for the 119 RSMS visa. Is anyone currently in the process of applying for this visa or awaiting a decision? I would be grateful if you could give me a rough idea of times please? We are being assisted by a Migration Officer who has submitted the nomination forms etc and we have sent our application to her to be forwarded for processing. It would be great to have some idea of how long the wait may be! Look forward to hearing from you. Cheers
  25. Considering the fact that the future of CSL is uncertain up to the point of it being already revoked or to be revoked very shortly("Mid 2010"), I wanted us to note and make a count of how many offshore applicants on the CSL lodged before the new SOL don't have a case officer assigned as of 01/07/2010 and in the same time note how many CSL applicants , got a case officer assigned after 01/07/2010 until we officially know of the new priority processing. This is going to give us a clue if CSL is still in place. Thanks to everybody who want to share their status.
