  1. HI everyone, just looking for some well timed PIO advice. We have been in Oz for 8 years now, but are finally heading to the sunny coast in Dec this year. We have often toyed with the idea of going home but have decided that before any major decisions are made we have to have the life we wanted when we first arrived and has needless to say eluded us so far. Also hoping to finally be part of an expat community with like minded people and this site has definitely got that, as I have been stalking the socialising threads for a while now, dreaming we could take part. Anway I digress, after reading a lot of posts on here it seems Buderim has something we have obviously missed. We have always visited the beachside suburbs and Noosa, Coolum, Mooloolaba and Tewantin were originally high on our list. But looking at it logically, further back areas like Mountain Creek or the Seaside area at Mount Coolum seem to be a better option. So I am just looking for advice really on the positives and negatives from people who live there.:goofy: We have 2 girls 3 and 1, so need parks and activites to do. Bike riding, Dog walking etc Can anyone recommend any Daycare's in the area? I am a teacher but have heard work is mega tough to find? Are there any teachers out there? I am doing my Cv up now to start the job hunting process. Hubby has resigned to commute to the mines until he can get work maybe in the city..he is an electrician. Any of them on the sunny coast??? We are coming down for a reckie at the end of Sept, but would love to get some areas on our map to check out. Sorry its a bit long:chatterbox: Thanks Lis
  2. Hi there Anyone have any experiences of those areas? They seem to have good primary schools and a bit to do but any real experiences would be brilliant. Thanks.

    Eastern Creek

Visited pepsi for the first time yesterday and would you believe it she has put on weight little tinker it was great to see her. Anyone who has any concerns about their furry ones being in quarantine please try not to worry they really are well looked after. Went today to take her for her first wallk in the exercise yard it was great to get her out of kennel. Roll on the 20th when we get her home then the family will be complete once more.

Not working until after school holidays so would be lovely to hear from any other mums in the area!

    Eastern Creek Kennels/Transfur?

Would be grateful to hear from anyone who has made the journey out to Eastern Creek Quarantine kennels without a car (from Bondi/Central Sydney). Gather the kennels are miles from anywhere so how did you get there? Also, would be very grateful to hear from anyone who has used Transfur to ship out their dog?

    Eastern Creek

Just a quick note... i'll do a proper report when I've got internet access for a little bit longer! We collected our cats, Bonnie and Clyde, from Eastern Creek on Wednesday and I wanted to do a quick post to let people know what a wonderful service we've received. I'd heard some real nightmare stories (including on here) but we've been really happy. We got the mobile number of the team that were looking after our cats - I could call as often as I liked and they never sounded annoyed that I was interrupting. They gave me info on their weights and general condition and went in to see them while I was on the phone each time. Bonnie is a very shy cat and hides a lot even at home. They gave me reports on how sociable she was being and generally reassured me that she was fine. When we collected them they looked like they'd spent the month at a health farm! Clyde, who generally has a tendancy to eat too much, looks like he's lost a healthy amount of weight and is looking very trim. Bonnie has put on a little, but she was a tiny cat to start with. Both of them have lovely coats - maybe not quite as soft as before but then they probably didn't get quite as much fuss as at home! They'd been given toys to play with and a lovely furry bed to keep. All in all two very happy cats! We spent a lovely few days with them in our new caravan and now they are settled into their Gold Coast holiday home where they'll stay while we do our little trip. I hope this gives a little bit of comfort to those who are about to dispatch their animals to quarantine. I was so worried - especially about Bonnie, but they are just the same as when we said goodbye back in Nottingham. Nicky
  10. Hi Does anyone know of any childminders in Mountain Creek who take and pick up children from Mountain Creek School? Thanks Jill xxx
  11. Hi I was wondering if anyone could help or give me some advice. I am due to start work in the next few weeks and need before and after school care for my 9 year old son who attends Mountain Creek State School. I was wondering if there are any childminders on here or if anyone knows of one who takes and picks up from Mountain Creek. I know that the school has a before and after school club and I will look into that but I would prefer if Jack went to a home environment. Thanks in advance. Jill xxx

  16. hi all, thought I'd share this bit of info with you as if I knew it a couple of weeks ago, I'd have acted upon it. My two cats are in Eastern Creek, have been for almost a week now. Turns out that the centre only feeds them dry food. However, this morning the carer happened to mention that if I wanted them to have some wet food (which they definitely prefer at evenings), then I could arrange an online delivery to the centre via Woolworths.com.au. I have therefore this morning placed an order online and it will be delivered to the centre tomorrow, so at least my girls can have better food and hopefully settle a bit more. Its quite straightforward to do, just set delivery to the Quarantine centre's address and quote your pet's names in the delivery info. regards sg

  18. Hi everyone, So, we arrive in WA at the end of April and will be staying in Halls Creek to start off with as my partner's parent is there. Have done limited research on the net about the place, but there doesn't seem to be much in the way of positive information. Any help from someone who lives or has lived there , or even visited there would be great. Any information at all, good or bad regarding anything. Cheers, Keith
  19. Hi There, We are fortunate enough to have a job transfer up to the Sunshine Coast but I'm getting a bit confused by conflicting info i'm reading on some of the schools. Does anyone have any genuine info on which could be good schools for my soon to be year 7 daughter (last year primary) and soon to be year 8 (1st year high school)? The areas and schools which are higher on our list are those in Mountain Creek, Mooloolabah, Buderim, and Maroochydore. I'm now also looking at Caloundra, Little Mountain (Meridian) and Sippy Downs (Chancellor) after reading up a bit more on those areas and schools. I was favouring Mountain Creek but have now read about crowded classrooms. Is this true? I'm really keen to get the schooling right - we've shifted our kids around so much and given then more than enough reasons to be seeking out counselling for a very long time:wacko: Any help or advice would be well and truly, gratefully received. Cheers Saff p.s - advice on great places to live that fit with a school recommendations would be lovely too!!!
  20. We have just had our visa's approved and are now 'all systems go' to get over to Brisbane by June next yr. I have been looking at areas / schools as we have 2 children who will be aged 10 and 7 by the time we get there, and like the look of Albany Creek. Is there anyone who lives/knows this or the surrounding areas and can let me know of good schools and whether it is a good place to be! Really looking forward to living our OZ dream..... Thanks Jackie and Kevin
