  1. I am a Guitarist (31) with 20 years playing experience. I am originally from London but relocated here (St Kilda area) in 2006. I teach guitar and work for the Mushroom Group so music is my life! I am looking at starting an acoustic duo (or trio) with the difference being that we only play UK covers. A niche not explored much to my knowledge. It could sink or it could swim but in the mean time we would be learning, playing and having fun with some great pieces of music. The thought of playing Farnesy, Barnesy or Summer of 69 is not appealing! As mentioned, I have a day job and part time evening so this is a VERY relaxed thing. Hopefully we will be playing cafes around the St Kilda area (where the fellow poms are!) The tunes will be from the classics of Beatles, Stones, Who, Kinks etc through to The Jam, The Stone roses, Oasis, Blur, Radiohead, Weller etc to some more modern stuff like Amy Winehouse, Mark ronson, Arctic Monkeys, Adele etc. Ideally you would be originally from the UK. Not being from the UK is not going to rule you out but you do have to have a passion for the UKs music scene. I know Aussies are a very proud bunch and like nothing more than listening to their own music (I work for an Aussie record label after all!!) but I think the demand could be there for this type of thing. Own PA would be great. Own transport is essential. Male or Female but if female then you would have to cover a wide range Lets do it
  2. Hi, I have the shippers coming in a few days and thought I should get round to buying some duvet covers to take over. I'm taking my double bed to keep as a spare so have plenty of double duvet sets, but will be buying a new bed for our bedroom. Can anyone tell me if Queen size is the standard size people buy over there and what size duvets you need to buy here to fit it? I looked online at international bed sizes and it looked like a queen size bed in Australia is the same size as King size in the UK, but wanted to check with anyone who's bought in the UK for aussie beds before going and buying the wrong size. Thanks Shaz
  3. Just sticking this one really as a thread recently got me thinking. The lady concerned is a Goth, I'm sure she won't mind me saying that, but it was very interesting in reading what made her tick and the 'image' that she portrays to the outside world. I never knew a Goths principles, ideas, expectations and the like, and I would like to thank her for 'showing' us a little of what makes her tick. I also saw from a previous thread about Mod, Rockers, Punks that many of us when younger had a 'persona' or certain individualism that we portrayed, but as with most things in life as we get older we tend to become a bit 'samey' if you know what I mean, suits, jeans, shirts, the 'dress code' if you will of growing up, but this is a question for those of you who still to a degree like to state your individualism, maybe in an obvious way, or very subtly. Some may big flowery dresses, hats, hair styles, different shoes, maybe tiny things that whilst may not be glaringly obvious to the outside world still in our own minds portray a little of what lies beneath the 'respectable' persona. Myself, I will fess up. Though not a revolutionary in the extreme I still like to portray a little of me to the outside world so they know what I amy be about. At times I will wear T-Shirts that have logos on, normally political that get a few looks down the street, I used to have my hair long, and am now growing it again, if only to try and look a little like 'Che' :notworthy:. I have certain tattoos that make a few look, though unrecognisable to most because they are written in different languages they can be a great source of conversation when someone asks what they mean. A little unshaven most of the time, (again a little like Che), but all in all I guess I am fairly individual, but not to much so. So, do you still dress in a way that may allow us to gauge what sort of person you may be, 'flower power', 'revolutionary', 'extrovert', 'introvert' 'garish' all sorts really, just interested is all. Cheers Tony.

    pool covers in Oz

Does anyone have or know about the pool covers that you can walk on so they are 100% child proof, have just seen one in England and wondered if they do them there and can you have them fitted to an existing pool or do you need to have them fitted the same time as the pool. This would just help us decide whether to purchase a house with pool or without.:daydreaming: Many thanks Marina
