    Childcare co-ordinator

Slightly perplexed about this!! Childcare Co-ordinator is now on the SOL (1295-11) & the description of this job title details that a person in this position would be responsible for all aspects of a childcare setting, including one that provides before/after school & vacation care. (I have run a club in the past for over 2 yrs & did all the duties described!!) Surely with this in the description it would seem that this is describing a UK kids club, so why are they asking for a degree in order to apply for this??????? All seems very wrong if this is the case, as over here in UK you need a NVQ 3 Playwork minimum to run a club & they would be alienating a vast number of extremely talented Playworkers who have gained a high qualifcation in a fantastic field of childcare. Or am I barking up the wrong tree (sure I'm not!!) Help please!! Thanx!!

    Child Care Co-Ordinator

I was wondering does anybody out there know about wages for Child Care Co-Ordinators in and around Brisbane and Gold Coast areas. I have looked on job sites but there doesn't seem to be much info about wages. The reason I ask is that OH and myself (little one included) are planning to go to Oz with me applying for a student visa. Was gonna do hairdressing but then found Child Care Co-Orindator two year course, which I would be much more interested in. Does anybody know of anyone who is doing this or has done this or who is actually a Child Care Co-Ordinator? Any info would be great:yes:

  4. Ok, so heres the situation...(if any1 can shed sum light I wud be really grateful!!) I'm trying to get over to Aus within a childcare role (I know Child Care Co-ordinator is now on SOL-1295-11!!). I'm 37 with NNEB, BTEC Nursery Nursing & NVQ 2 & 3 in Playwork-over 15 yrs experience in various childcare settings both in UK & abroad with over 2 yrs experience as Co-ordinator of a before/after school & holiday club for up to 24 kids. (this was in 2005-2007) I am currently NOT in childcare at the mo. I know that my qualifications as they stand are not enough to get me to Aus, so was thinking of doing a distance learning degree in Early Childhood Studies would this degree be high enough for me to apply to get a visa???? would the work experience I gain whilst doing the degree count as recent work experience for visa purposes???? Or would my previous & extensive experience be taken into account?? I seem to be going round in circles on this one & realise that time is ticking away & the UK holds no interest for me anymore!! Many many thanx for any help given!!!!

  6. hi,my partner is studying her batchelors degree to get her early years managment qualification, which works out to be a child care co-ordinator,she already has a level 3 diploma in early years child care and education. what i dont know is,is this enough to get to australia (adelaide in particular,as my parents and brothers and sisters live there as citizens) because as a normal teacher, although they say ba degree is enough when you apply, you would need to study for another 2-3 years for qts and pgce and a year in the job before they'd consider you. what im hoping is that the ba degree is enough. she has worked in the environment as she's studied, shadowing a manager so has 3 years experience in the role (they want a year in the job before applying) and 4 and a half years as a private nanny plus 18 months as a student in a nursery.she's 28 and im 31 and we've got 4 kids and we're not getting any younger and neither are my parents. i dont want to waste any time,so if anyone can help, please do!!

  8. Hi, Childcare Coordinator has been renamed to Childcare Centre Manager on new SOL & ANZCO. What would happen to someone who has had their skills assessed against the old criteria (which to me looks very similar, if not the same)? The title of Coordinator no longer exists, so does this mean that someone would have to be reassesed, even those with SS and applied for their visa one year ago. Thanks, Tracey

  10. Hi, I woundered if anyone can help me out, me and my family are currently looking to apply for a 175 visa via the childcare coordinator. My qualifications are an NVQ level 3 which was completed in 2002 and took 2 years, I also have my HLTA which is classed as the equivelent of a NVQ4. In 2002- 2003 I ran a pre school nursey and for the last 4 years have run an Autism unit in a special needs school, I'm currently in charge of an Autism specific unit, the class is of mixed age of KS1 and KS2 pupils, and we work on our own Autism Curriculum, I am in charge of all the staff, planning, reports, writing IEP's, IBP's and have full responsibility. I have spoken to two agents and they both said that I don't have the right qualifications but I think I have, do you think if I did the TRA without an agent I would have a chance of getting through ? Also what exactly would I need to put down if I did procede with doing the TRA ? My partner has his grandparents and auntie and uncle living in Perth but he has no work qualifications. Kind Regards & Hope someone can help me out. Julie

  14. NE Victoria now has a skilled migration coordinator, she is covering a huge area including Mansfield Shire, Alpine Shire, Benalla, Wangaratta and Indigo Shire, and is a point of contact for those coming to regional Victoria and needing help with finding their feet. She is very commited to helping people settle in the area and to increasing the cultural diversity of NE Victoria which can only be a good thing. So if any of you are thinking of moving to any of her areas then please contact her on w.mitchell@wangaratta.vic.gov.au . She will send you a welcome pack depending on where you are looking at settling ( I have just got mine hee hee feel a bit of a fraud as I have been here for 6 months already but it has some freebies in apparently. Unfortunately they don't seem to be for free bottles of wine or a free meal at the local vineyards ). She is also very active in helping people secure work here which might be of interest to some, along with help with housing and making local contacts. Anyway if anyone needs any further info then either e-mail her dierctly or send me a PM. Nicky
