  3. Hi all, this is my first post on PIO. I am on my way to Australia in Feb 2010. I have a WHV and will be working as a chef/cook. I have six years experience in the Catering Industry but no formal qualifications in the industry. I would ideally like to find a sponsorship but from what I understand, I need qualifications to do so? I have looked at getting certified in Oz but it takes 2 years and I cannot study for more than 4 months on a WHV. A student visa is out of the question as it costs $23,000 to study and I have to have the funds before I apply. Is there a chance if I secured a job and my employer was willing to sponsor me that I could get the visa without the qualifications? All advise is well appreciated!! Cheers x

    176 for cook/chef

Hi, my OH is just about to be assessed for his AQFIII for cook then it's on the the TRA after that, originally we decided that we wanted to move to Queensland on a 176 but since we started the AQF 'cook' has been taken off sponsered skills list but 'chef' remains on. We've heard that for the Chef route we need an AQFIII and is very difficult is that correct? We are set on moving to QLD so wondered if we can get a job offer or something would it change anything... Any suggestions!? :twitcy: Thanks Becki & Jay
