Transition from 417 to skills visa

I'm UK citizen currently 5 months into a WHV 417 in Perth. I'm working as a Contracts Officer for a mining organization. There is no opportunity for employer spon but I'm trying to understand my eligibility for another visa. I registered on skillselect and I think I qualify for a skills visa under Contracts Administrator, and my partner would need to be defacto on my application (he doesn't have a listed skill) I have a BA and an MSc, and min 3 years experience within procurement. September 2014 - March 2015: Junior Buyer (this may not count) (6 months) March 2015 - November 2017: Contracts Specialist (2 years 7 months) April 2018 - October 2018: Contracts Officer (6 months) Does anybody have any experience transitioning from a 417 onto a skills visa? Is there a tried and tested migration agent that anyone can recommend for advice?
  2. I wondered if anybody has received a positive skills assessment for contracts administrator? I really don't want to spend all of the money (and time) on a skills assessment if I don't stand a chance and should be trying an alternative option! My work history is working as a Paralegal within contract law and I have a degree and postgraduate qualification in law. I am hoping to apply for state sponsorship in the NT and gain employment in a commercial contracts role. My previous role duties and tasks match at least half of the description for the ANZSCO description for contracts admin. However there are seperate categories for legal executives and legal clerks. I have read all of the information on the Vetassess website, but wanted an idea of just how strict they are. Particularly in what they deem 'highly relevant employment' as even after reading the key terms section it still leaves a lot to interpretation. Any help would be much appreciated :-)
  3. Hi, I'm a QS currently living in the UK, but I have a permanent residency visa and will be in Oz April 2013 (Sydney specifically). I have 7 years experience as a QS; 5 years experience in Infrastructure work (recent) and 2 in Refurbishment. I am going to start enquiring with a few agencies soon and I was wondering what the current climate is like for looking for work? Will I be ok with my current experience and the fact I already have a visa? I also have some excellent references which I'm hoping will help. Also are there any tips people can share or stories on how things have worked out for them and what they did initially? Thanks in advance! Kyle

    Quantity Surveyor after advise

Hi all, I'll start with some background: I am an intermediate [contractors] Quantity Surveyor with 5 years experience in Highway Infrastructure & minor Civils, I also have 2 years in Housing refurbishment. I am currently working towards my RICS Assoc Accreditation and have worked on a range of forms of contract upto £14m. I currently have a permanent visa (due to move out March 2013) and was wondering how I would stand for getting a job and if it's advisable to apply beforehand or is there no real benefit? Thanks in advance for any help!
