Me and my wife are exspecting our first child and after just moving in the new home have found out the news that my company can no longer keep me employed. PLEASE can any one help us by knowing of any carpentry or constuction companies already accepted to sponsor on a 457. Or if any companies would concider or benifit the prospects of taking on a hard working british lad.

    Continue or Delay with 176??

My OH has had SA SS Approved. We have submitted our 176 Visa application online this weekend & attached all our docs. I am 14 weeks pregnant. From other people's timelines it looks like a CO will be assigned in about 4 to 6 weeks and then Meds requested about a month after that... I've read with X ray machines being far more advanced these days that as long as you're not in your 1st trimester; having a chest X ray is considered to be fine. However if we have the X ray say end of May beginning of June & a decision is made not long after; baby isn't due til 22nd Sept we will then have to pay according to other posts I've seen around £1200 for a child visa and wait approx 7 months or do we ask the CO to delay things slightly for us; I have the X Ray after baby is born and then just submit a form re change of details i.e. an additional member of the family and do it that way? The changes that are due to happen on 1st July won't affect us regardless, will they as we have already lodged our visa application? Assuming we are granted our visa we weren't planning on going til next summer anyway.. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated... 8th June Applied for AQF III - 26th Aug '10 Passed AQFIII (Landscape Gardener) - 2nd Nov '10 Applied to TRA - 28th Nov '10 Passed TRA - 11th Jan '11 Submitted SS to South Australia - 28th Jan '11 SS Docs received by SA -22nd March '11 SA SS Approved - Lodged 176 eVisa 26th March '11
  4. Hi all, just informing of an update to the SA immigration website, they are advising that any sponsorship applications "in the pipeline" will now be processed as long as the occupation is considered "priority" http://www.migration.sa.gov.au/sa/immigrate_from_overseas/visa_options/gen_skill3/criteria_for_state_spons.jsp It may be good for people who do have applications in the pipeline to post their details here including occupation, as it may be a good indicator of occupations they are looking for for the SMP???? Please please anybody with a positive outcome for a hairdressing sponsorship can you notify here, would love to know if they are still considering this occupation priority!! Sarah:wubclub:
  5. I had just received my WA state sponsorship when the changes were announced on 23rd Sep. I had planned to get a 176 PR. I have just got married, and we need to get out of England like yesterday, waiting til 2012 just isn't an option. So I thought that If I switched to a 457 and get an employer sponsor, that would be simpler and quicker., and then convert to PR once we are there. Are there many Engineering type firms giving out sponsorship? I feel it's almost impossible to get sponsorship from England. Our plan is to move to Aus in a few months when companies have hiring budgets etc finalised, and the current trend for econimic improvement continues. My wife is under 30 and qualifies for the 12 month temp work visa, I am over 30, but my wifes income and our savings should support us, while i find a sponsor for my 457. I am a fitter/turner by trade (no longer on CSL). WA was our first choice, but we are flexible. Just wondered what everyone thought about our plans, is it do able?? Like a lot of people I can't see Mr Evans making a U turn on the latest announcements, but I can see some scope for adding trades and skills to the CSL as and when. Cheers Mark

  7. First Home owners scheme to continue Updated: 19:49, Tuesday May 12, 2009 First home buyers have another six months to locate their dream dwelling and still benefit from the boost to the first home owners grant scheme. As part of last year's 10.4 billion dollar stimulus package the grant was lifted from seven thousand dollars to 14-thousand dollars for existing dwellings and to 21-thousand for new homes. Set to expire on June 30 it's been extended as is for another three months before being phased out after December 31. It'll be halved between October 1 and December 31 meaning first home buyers will receive a total of 10-thousand-500 dollars for established homes and 14-thousand for new homes. Treasurer Wayne Swan says the boost has already helped 59-thousand people achieve the great Australian dream. Data released this week shows first home buyers accounted for 27.3 per cent of all home loans approved in March.
  8. hi folks feeling quite disheartened, just read the thread re poms moving back to UK, after reading quite a few im feeling quite sick at the thought that we could end up feeling the same. Some people have made it sound an awful place to live. WE are planning to move to Brisbane, some comments I know would just go over my shoulder and I know some people wouldnt be happy where ever they were. It really wouldnt bother me if I was refered to as a POM as here in Tamworth im called a Tammie and my hubby is a Brummie you expect that here, Dont you? So to make me feel some what better please feel free to comment on why you would stay in OZ and not wish to come back home. AS when reading threads like the one ive just read makes you really question if were doing the right thing. Tracy and John

    Continue Education

Hi All We have two daughters ages 14 and 18 by the time we get to Oz-if we get there :nah: Eldest daughter is studying Sports and Leisure City & Guilds and wants to continue qualification in Oz- is this possible-what costs involved? Youngest daughter would obviously carry on studying at Oz school but what are the costs for Government school per year? We're heading for Melbourne and I have contacted couple school via email but had no replies! Any advise is appreciated:notworthy:
  10. Hi everyone, We are in the process of applying for a temporary (3-year) visa to Oz, Adelaide, on my profession. I am a freelance translator, set up in a limited company, of which I am the sole owner. I work mostly for agencies in the UK and my clients are happy to continue providing me with work, after I've moved to Oz. They will obviously then start paying me into an Australian bank account (in Australian dollars). My question is this: can anyone tell me how my business should be set up in Australia? Should I go back to being a freelancer, should I set up a business account in Oz, or just a normal account. How does the tax work for freelancers? Your help would be much appreciated :wubclub: Cheers, Karin (who's Dutch, by the way, but Mervyn is English, can I still stay on Poms in Oz?
