    417 to 820 Help.

Hi there, first ever post on here so bear with me lol. Some background info, I've recently moved here from Scotland to be with my Ozzie girl who i met when she was travelling europe. We became inseparable and her visa was expiring so i decided to get a WHV so i could be with her and if all worked out, we would look into a more permanent solution so we could stay together. The time has finally arrived and i've been here coming on 9 months now and we're going to apply for a 820 defacto visa. We have no doubts that it will be granted as we more than fit the brief, but i've been searching forums and cant seem to find an up to date answer to this question. Currently got a job working in a metal workshop casually with full time hours, and have been told that il be given a full time contract once i get this visa situation sorted. But i know that i have a 6 month limit to each employer and i read that the processing times of the 820 are currently sitting at 12 - 15 months according to the immi website. So if i apply for this visa and obtain the bridging visa, will that take effect immediately and the 6 month rule will go out the window, or does it mean i have to wait until my WHV expires in december (which would mean finding new employment) then going back to my current place of work as i have been there since April as is. Any feed back would be appreciated, thank you kindly
  2. Hello there, i am 16 years old, nearly 17. my family are hoping to move to Perth in the next 6 months, and by june i will have completed my first year of A Levels (AS). i am studying Psychology, Sociology and ICT. i heard that the age for leaving school is 17 in Oz and therefore i will go straight into university if we do move in the next 6 months. im just a little confused as to how this would work and how the grades would transfer, if the grades i had would be enough to go to university..would i need to go back a year and go back to the last year of school just to get australian qualifications or..? i would love to stay in england to finish my a levels but my mum refuses to leave me which is understandable. But would it be more wise to stay in england to finish my a levels? if ive missed out any details let me know, i would be very greatful if anybody could help me with the above questions! :cute:
  3. Hi there This is my first post to the forum, and I am sure there will be more to come... Not surprisingly, the first question is about skills assessment done by VETASSESS... I am an international postgrad student in Australia, and would like to get my skills assessment done with my non-Australian qualifications. The thing I get confused is about work experience. I will give below two different information on how work experience is assessed for skills recognition. The source of the first piece is VETASSESS itself, and the other one has recently been provided by an agent. VETASSESS states in its website that (under FAQ): "I have been studying and am only allowed to work for up to 20 hours a week; will this be enough for the full skills assessment? In calculating years of paid employment, VETASSESS will count employment of at least 20 hours per week. We will not consider weeks of less than 20 hours per week even if the average hours of your employment was 20 hours per week or more." And the below information is given by an agent: "Have you worked 20 hours a week doing paid work for a cumulative period of 12 months over the last 5 years? If so, would you be able to obtain letters of reference from your employers supporting this work? If you have 12 months paid professional work experience at 20 hours a week over the last 5 years you will be able to apply for accreditation based on your non-Australian qualifications. " What makes me confused is this: "20 hours a week paid work for a cumulative period of 12 months over the last 5 years" With a basic math; you need to work for 1040 hours cumulatively (20 x 52 = 1040 hours) in the last 5 years in order to get 12 months work experience. The number of hours I worked is well over 1040 hours, but as an international student most of the weeks I worked less than 20 hours (around 15-18) just to be on the safe side! So if VETASSESS uses the cumulative hours I worked in the last 5 years, that's OK, I have more than enough. But if the weeks I worked less than 20 hours will not be counted, then it simply means I do not meet the conditions for work experience, although I have worked much more hours than needed (but less than 20 hours p/w). I hope there are people out there who have an idea or answer!!! Happy Easter to all!!!
  4. Hi everyone, My girlfriend and I are slowly starting our emigration process. She's a registered adult nurse, and we've got a few questions about her AHPRA registration that we're unsure about. Any help/clarification anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated. 1) We've concluded that the first thing she needs to do is complete her IELTS. What we're unsure about is whether we can do that now, before starting the AHPRA process. Where do we get the results of the IELTS sent to if we haven't yet started the AHPRA registration? Can we contact the IELTS later in the year and ask them to forward on her results or can they only be sent at time of completion? Thanks. 2) I believe we need to send proof from the NMC of her registration, and her university transcript. I'm under the impression these documents need to be sent directly to AHPRA. This has left us a little confused, as the AHPRA registration form says we need to send all information together. How can we send everything together if the NMC has to send direct to AHPRA? And how can we tell the NMC where to send the documents, if we haven't sent anything to AHPRA yet? 3) Our intention is to get IELTS proof, then get AHPRA registered, and then start applying for jobs in Oz in the hope of getting sponsorship (state/regional or company). Are we going about things the right way? It's all a bit overwhelming reading all the discussions, websites, and information out there. Sorry if these are stupid questions! Thanks for your time.
  5. hello guys! i just hope no one would mind as this is my 1st post. i got some confusion. i need a piece of advice so i can have this resolved as soon as possible. i lodged my 175 application ONLINE on june 2011, declaring my mother as my dependant; Form47A was filled-up, printed, signed, scanned, and uploaded along with pertinent documentation. yesterday, i happened to have read in one forum that though you are an ONLINE applicant, you still have to send by POST/COURIER all the hard copies to Adelaide Processing Center. am i doing the right thing here? nowhere in the Form47A that says so, neither in the query/checklist, but only this > "Forward the completed form and any requested documents to the Adelaide Skilled Processing Centre within 28 days from the date you lodged your application." all along i thought this should be done ONLINE since i am an online applicant. i missed having read the one mentioned in the DIAC site. should i send the original copies or maybe a notarized certified true copies are just enough? anyone here who had the same case...delay in sending the hard original or notarized copies? what happened to your case? will this jeopardize my application? i hope an expert on this matter could help me, please? thank you very much.
  6. Not sure if anyone can help:  we are looking at applying for the 175 skilled independent visa but on the government website we also qualify under the 176 state/family sponsored visa... and this is a shorter processing time.. however, when i spoke to a migration agent the other day, they told me we were not eligible for the family sponsorship as our family live in Brisbane (which is not a regional area of Australia) but on the government website, it says any family members can sponsor you. can anyone clarify this for me or is anyone going through the same thing? thank you!!
  7. HI All, yesterday I have got my SS approval from SA as Telecommunication Engineer ( ANZSCO code 263311). I submitted the my assessment as Electronic Engineer (ASCo code 2125-13) which I got before introducing ANZSCO. As per the DIAC endorsed ASCO- ANZSCO correlation, the ACSO code (2125-13 Electronics Engineer) has correlation for the below ANZSCO codes. 263311 Telecommunications engineer 263312 Telecommunications network engineer 233411 Electronics engineer Now I am applying for VISA application. In the application, I have to select my nominated occupation . Which will be my nominated occupation : is it Electronic Engineer (ASCo code 2125-13) or Telecommunication Engineer ( ANZSCO code 263311). I have assessment in Electronic Engineer (ASCo code 2125-13). BR, Morshed

    anmac/ANZSCO confusion nurse

Not sure if anyone else has had this problem: I am a registered children's nurse with 12 months experience but since qualifying, i have worked in the community setting in public health. I have to do my skills assessment with anmac and identify an ANZSCO code. Trouble is there are two potential codes i could use?! 254414 - Community Health (this is where my experience is) or 254499 - paediatrics (this is what my qualification is) I also have done post graduate modules in public health to support my practice. Has anyone else been in this situation who can offer advice? Many Thanks!!

    457 confusion

Hi all So having been here for about 4 months on a 417 (working holiday visa) the company i am working for has finally started to sort out my 457. How successful this will be is anyones guess as the person sorting it out has so far signed a form putting the date as being 1960  and nearly caused my boss to start laying a few bricks by saying i could only work for the company till mid oct due to my current visa restrictions when it should be end of nov  Now immi website and a few threads here and i am confused about the insurance part. I currently have a medicare card so do i need health insurance? I can't seem to find a definitive answer it all seems to run around in circles .

    Partner Visa Confusion

Hello Friends! I need your help/comment on my case here: I got the Australian PR in 2009 and made my initial entry to Australia on April 2010. However, due to some compelling reasons and ties in my home country I had to get back from Austrlia to my home country right after 1 months and couldn't return to Austrlia yet. Moreover, recently I got married and planning to move Australia permanently along with my wife. So we are preparing to apply for my wife's partner visa application at the earliest. But we are a bit concerned about whether my wife will get the visa at all if we apply for it before I return to Australia (being the PR sponsor for wife's partner visa). We would be grateful if any of you could clarify on this issue: 1. As I am living outside of Australia even more than 1 yrs since I made the initial entry as a PR, would it be a matter at all on the decision of granting my wife's visa as partner? 2. If so then do I need to prepare any justification why I couldn't return to Australia till now? 3. Do I need to provide any statement/evidence on my intention to return to Australia along with my wife? 4. In the partner visa application checklist, its mentioned to provide evidence of employment or income during the last 2 years. However, I have employment evidence (pay slip, bank statement) of my home country only. Would it be sufficient to be eligible as the sponsor for my wife? Regards, Boundooley

  14. Hi all, Hoping someone can help. I came over a year ago with work on assigment. I am on a 457 visa. I have recently changed jobs and no longer have the benefit of my old employers great private healthcare. Now I have a medicare card but want to understand what "top up" private healthcare I can get. I have been onto iselect and they say I can only get 457 specific policy (which seems to give little over and above hosptial care) and seems very expensive. Can anyone give any advice - the sorts of cover I am looking for are dental, heart and possibly preganancy cover. Cheers.

    LAFHA - 457 - PR? confusion

I have searched for this answer but there doesn't seem to be a clear cut one. When does the LAFHA stop?Is it right from the beginning of instructed a migration agent? or only from when that PR application is submitted? We require a skills assessment (856) so we are trying to work out when the LAFHA will stop..If it is from the application being submitted right at the end then that's a much better prospect. Thanks
  16. My Oh is a Bricklayer and has been for the last 13 years. In the last 13 years he's actually never worked for 12 months straight, as most jobs in Bricklaying are never that long. Will that affect his skills assessement??? Also he hasn't worked for the last 5 months as a bricklayer will this affect his skills assessment eve tho he's been doing this job for the last 13 years??? Please help we want to apply for assessment just not sure if this will work against us... Tanja
  17. Hi, My other half is a carpenter and has successfully completed his vetassess paper and practical. We sent off for regional sponsorship in June for Murray NSW and today have been told they will sponsor us. Felt really excited until I double checked the new points system and started to get really confused as to whether the vetassess counts toward a qualification recognised by the australian assessing body giving us 10 points or not. Also do we now need to do a points test with vetassess. I am really, really confused so if anyone can help I would be really grateful. We are hoping to apply for visa 475 and as I am not using an agent I do not want to get anything wrong:unsure:

    Visa Confusion!

Hi all, i apologise in advance if this is a ridiculously silly question! Im very confused as I am looking at visas, my occupation is listed on the ANZSCO but not on the SOL....... can anyone tell me the difference and why it is on one list but not the other? Can I apply for a visa for an occupation on the ANZSCO? or does it have to be on the SOL? This immigration journey is so confusing! lol im also getting conflicting advice from different people....i spoke to a migration agent in the UK who basically told me I had no chance, but then I filled in an online test and had communication with an agent online and they said there was a chance! makes you want to give up half the time lol just because its so confusing! thanks all, all advice so appreciated shelley

    Confusion over SOL

Hi there, I've been looking through the threads and can't seem to find the answer to this question - so apologies if it has already been discussed!! I have been checking out the SOL on the Australian Gov website, and there seems to be two - one for general skilled migration, and one for state/territory migration.... General Skilled Migration Skilled Occupation Lists (SOL) Applicants must have a nominated occupation which is on the SOL applicable to their circumstances at the time they apply: the current SOL (schedule 1) – applies to all new GSM applications, including applicants eligible for transitional arrangements if they prefer to use it. See: Skilled Occupation List (SOL) – Schedule 1 ( 86KB PDF file) the State and Territory SOL (schedule 1 and 2) – relevant only for GSM applicants who are nominated by a State or Territory government agency under a State Migration Plan. See: Skilled Occupation List (SOL) – Schedule 1 and 2 (201KB PDF file) My occupation is not on the first one, but the second one seems to be a lot wider in it's range of occupations, so I was just wondering would I have to apply to a state first of all if I were going for a visa, to see could I then use the second list, or what way does this work. Am very confused!! I'm just at the researching/planning stages of a possible migration, so trying to get everything in order. Any help/info would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks, Cat

    SOL confusion

I have an Environmental Science BSc and MSc and 8 years experience as an Environmental Engineer (SOL code 233915). However, this stopped 6 years ago so is outside of the 5 year rule. I am also a Chartered Environmentalist not sure if this helps? I am currently Head of Health and Safety so could apply under SOL code 251312 as an Occupational Health and Safety Adviser. However, I hold no formal Health and Safety qualifications but have 15 years experience which is continous and current etc. Can anyone advise me re the best route as I feel I am in a catch 22 situation? Many Thanks
  22. Hi our family sponsored visa 176 was lodged on the 9th june 2011 but payment was only just taken a few days ago. We have just been put in cat 5 even though my husband is on the shedule 1 SOL list and was on the old one. We had 100 points which was needed for the visa. Would they of done our points based on when our visa was lodged? or would they of done the points on the new test because they took the payment after the 1st of july? i would presume it would be from the old points as that was when it was lodged, but i cannot understand why we would not be in cat 4.
  23. A very short situation that has been bothering me for a while. I finished my undergraduate studies in Australia on a student visa last December and then enrolled in another course for the Feb semester 2011 (had to apply for another student visa which is now valid till March '12). I was proceeding with my 885 application procedures side by side and finally applied for migration in May. Now I'm not exactly liking my current course and want to quit it. My main confusion is what would happen if I stop my studies? From my little research on the Internet, I have heard that DIAC might cancel my student visa and thus I will be told to return back. If this happens, what would happen to my already lodged 885 visa application? Is there any way of me getting transferred to a Bridging Visa? I really can't see myself continuing this course and paying so much amount of money for something I'm not liking. Any advice appreciated.
  24. Hi all ! I have applied my 485, and 487 relative sponsor visa on september 2010. I have included my wife in both applications. But I got email from immigration mentioning my wife is not eligible for 485 visa because she doesnt' hold subsequent visa. She has got 570 (English course) visa currently which is said to be insubsequent. But I havent' heard anything about 487. My question is, I have applied 487 from the sponsorship of my wife's cousin? So, if my wife is rejected for this, will be still eligible for 487 because the relation was from my wife ? I am so confused. I was thinking to apply to include my wife in 485 after i get it and hope she gets it within some months. my question is, If she is able to get her 485 in that way before the decision for 487 is made, is there any chance that I can send update about the visa status to the immigration which will be subsequent for 487? If I got my TR soon and apply her to include in my TR, will she get bridging visa A to stay and work in Australia? I m so confused, what's the best way to resolve this issue ?? Sorry for so many questions in one thread !! Would b so thankful if i can get some response ASAP !

    Help with LAHFA confusion

Just a quick question about LAHFA eligibility. (Sorry if this is basic but I'm trying to learn about it all). I am on a 457 visa at the moment, paid the minimum rate for my occupation of $48,000 pa. I have been trying to find out if I am eligible for LAHFA before I bring all the info to my employer about it and I gave my information to an independant company (http://www.lahfa.com.au) to assess whether I was eligible but they said I didn't earn enough to qualify for it. I'm searching for info which states eligibility for it but cannot find any. Can anyone please help me??!!!
