im thinking of doing a BTEC advanced diploma course in refrigiration, heating and air conditioning from home ( a course from home with ICS), will that qualification get me the skilled trade visa that i want???? please can some one help??!!!! any comments advice will be much appreciated.

So when I was a bit short a while back I had to get a second job and my friend recommended that I should give a career as a cab driver a go. It was both the funniest and worse job I've ever done, and I’ve done a few. Some of the punters would come up with all sorts of clever ways to rip you off. This was the best of the lot though. So one day I get sent to this house and the note on the job screen says "Man in wheelchair needs assistance." So I pull up at this address and this skinny, sorrowful looking geezer with twisted looking limbs is waiting in his wheelchair by the front door. I get out of the car and go into his garden and he says, "Would you be so kind as to wheel me over, I’m so sorry to be a nuisance. So I say "No problem." As I'm wheeling him over he keeps repeating "Please forgive me, you really are too kind, it is most generous of you." I push him over to the front passenger side door and open it and again he says "Oh I do hate to be a nuisance but would you be so kind enough to lift me in." So I put my arms under his skinny twisted legs and lift him into the car and again he says “Oh you are so kind, too kind, most kind of you, where would I be without Gent's such as yourself." So I close his door and fold his chair up and take it to the boot, lift the boot and put the chair in and when I close the boot.........My car turns into a drag racer starts burning rubber and leaves tyre marks on the road. As I stand in the road like midnight half struck with my dopey mouth open my first thought is "How the hell does he operate the pedals." And as it slowly dawns on me I can’t suppress a grin as I realise he has taken me for a proper Charlie, a right Mr Confused. Fair play to him, Daniel Day Lewis's Oscar winning performance in 'My left foot' was nothing compared to this tea leafs. What with The twisted legs and trembling arms, he was good! The coolness of it, to wait till I opened the boot so I couldn't see him switch seats and then also wait for me to put his wheelchair in and close the boot , well it was as calm as you like. He pulled this con on a few cab drivers all over London. I lost my wallet and phone but got my car back two weeks later. He was right though I was "So kind, to kind, most kind." :biggrin:

Air Con Electrical License how easy is it to get it?

reverse flow air con

Can somebody help with this? What is reverse flow air con? we have not heard of this reverse flow thingy. Obviously we know standard air con, that sucks out the warm air then cools it, blowing it back in. Is this its full name

We would love to hear from any air con or fridge engineers. just done 2079 last week, seems a waste now, ce la vie or however you spell it.

Are expo's worth going to or is it just a con?

Hi, I'm still considering traveling to Oz next year (or 2012), after a few stays in a few other countries first. I have a place to stay for a little while in Perth with a friend who has just moved over. My situation is that I've never been to Oz so want to see what it's like. I'm also in the public sector here, so my job's not safe and tbh, I don't want to be that job next year if I can help it. Another point is, I used to be a software developer (suffered severe burn out) and have been thinking about going back into that, but I've not done any programming work for like 6 years, although I'm working on my own open source software atm. Having scanned some threads here, it seems difficult to get any work due to no experience in Oz, so I was wondering if it's possible to get some work experience via these expo's and come over on a temp work visa? I'm 37, so a WHV is not viable, but also according to the Oz immigration visa wizard, only a permanent visa is viable for me, at an extortionate cost :eek: tbh. I'm seriously stuck on what I should be aiming for. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Luke.

hi C: ive been living in adelaide for about 4-5 years now, and ive started studying classical piano/vocals at the Elder Conservatorium in the city. Im looking for any beginner/intermediate kids or adults who are looking to learn piano or voice. Im trying to get up some money to play for accompanists and fees, but dont have the time to take on a job at a store. i teach from home, in glandore near the city, on weekends and most evenings. Air con assessors..is there a need for them in Oz???

Hi there. Does anyone know if there is a need for Air conditioning assessors in Oz.? Back here in England, am about to take a course (which is expensive!) to become a government approved assessor. I was wandering if the regulations are the same both here and in Oz as I have 4 years experience in a/c install, do I still carry on with install or would a change benefit me and my family when we decide to come over. Refrig Air Con Installer Or Welder which is most wanted in Brisbane?

I am coming over in about 3 or 4 months to Brisbane. Would love to live on the Sunshine Coast if possible. Will I have more luck in Refrigeration Air Con or Welding? I know I need licence etc but is they still a demand for these trades are has Oz got enough? Would I have more luck in Perth? Any Refrig Air Con guys having problens getting work? Also Welders how it going for you ? Would be nice to hear from you if you living and working in Oz.

Advice and help for Air con plumb course please

I hope someone may be able to give me a bit of advice who lives in Brisbane I need to find out if its best to do my ARTC in Uk before I arrive in Oz? Also as UK qualifications are not recognised and more training etc has to be done. Can some one who is in Air con plumb tell me who I need to talk to about courses please and licence I will need. And the costs involved. Also can the course be done in a quicker time that collage night school? Sorry if this has been aked before. Look forward to your reply Garry

Does the Student Visa provide a pathway to PR, or is it a con? Need some help

Hi, just joined the website. Well here is my issue, I am hoping some of you guys may be able give me some pointers and help (or closure) I went to Australia for three month back in 2007. Since my intial three month career break. I have return twice on a working holiday visa. With a break of 7 month inbetween each visa back in the UK. During the two year period in OZ, I worked and lived like an Aussie in Sydney, I held down a good job all the way through. I even got took on by the same firm again, with a pay rise. Once I was on my 2nd working visa, and I was allowed to work for them again. I had an awesome set of Australian mates, who I miss more than anything. I like them was devastated when my 2nd visa was up and had to go home. The airport was 1 of the worst days of my life, for me and them some said. I just got back to the UK and pritty much felt like my life here is pointless an going nowhere, just like two year back. I have been looking into the student visa thing for about a month. I went to see a migration agent, who told me if I was looking for PR. I would need to start from scratch. My banking/exprience is not worth anything on the SOL list. He also dispelled a few myths I heard over the years as well surrounding PR. So it was money well spent, I guess. So I have been looking on the computer nearly 24/7 researching websites, going to expo days etc etc. So I am looking at doing a course in bricklaying or Tiling, for two years so I can get the 60 points I need to obtain my goal of PR. Major change of career, but I am serious about doing whatever it takes. People always say you need to change your career totally once in awhile. I have looked at a few places Perth (Silver trowel), Gold coast (TAFE Nambour) and Melborne (Holmesglen College) that run these courses. I can cover the cost of tutiton fees but it will cost me everything I have saved up for since I started saving lol. Plus reading the stories on here, I have read things can go wrong so quickly and immigration change the goal posts a lot. So it seems like a gamble that could fall apart. But I cant give myself a few month to think about it becuase I have reached 28 years old. So I need to get this on the ways as when I hit 30years old I loose another 5 points. Which brings me down to 115 which is no good. I was hoping to get advice off any other people that maybe going down this route in order to obtain PR or are on it. Plus any advice people can give me in gerneral would be much appreciated, as my head is all over the place with this stuff at the moment. I not going to make any descions on this till the DIAC, release the changes to the student visa, which I have read are going to happen soon. Returning to Australia is my dream, and its all I think about from the moment I open my eyes to the moment I close them again a night.

I am wanting to move to South Australia,and i have a qualification in Air Conditioning & Refrigeration(BTEC advanced diploma Level 3)i have been working in this employment for 1 yr,but it is not registered with city & guilds.i would like to know any information about this qualification and if it would be accepted for migration.any help would be appreciated.
