Hello All. I hope someone can help me answer this question. While trying to apply for SS for SA, the only option I have to submit my commitment to SA statement is a 500 character limit on their form. This doesn't allow me to show the level of research I have done on why I am choosing SA. My question was whether I will be asked to submit the normally accepted 2-pager highlighting all the points why I have chosen SA? Should I expect SA to ask me for this later? In the meantime, I'm going to continue waiting with bated breath for my job code to open up on July 1st!

Just prepping our application to SA for State Sponsorship. Can't believe how much of a pain is it getting all the bank statements together? How did we get that many accounts? Anyway, anyone got any good examples of a Commitment to live in SA letter that they might be prepared to share? Want to have it drafted before I kick-off the application online so would be useful to know how long it is etc. Bit cheeky, but any tips/examples gratefully received.

Hi All We are at the starting point for applying for our 176 visa. I've had a positive response back from my skills assessment as a Construction Project Manager back in December, it took about 4 weeks which was surprisingly fast! Sent a copy of my CV for them to have a look at, and got the all clear to proceed with our visa application. We have just finished putting together our "Commitment to Canberra" statement but are a little worried as to whether we have ticked all the boxes. Has anybody sent theirs and had any feedback? cheers Daz

Hi all, I am one of the lucky many who can enter Australia on a skilled independent visa - state sponsored by WA. Now before settling and looking for work around Perth I wanted to go for some extensive outback travelling, you know buying a 4WD and do a once-in-a-lifetime outback trip for a couple of months:cute:. Can I give a c/o address of a friend in Perth to the WA Immigration Authority once I enter Australia or can I only change my overseas address once I have a job? Or is there some other sort of registrations needed (tax file number/medicare) before I can change my address with the Department? Is the 6-monthly survey compulsory and has to be completed within a deadline? Thanks for advice on how to handle this. Best regards, Stephen

Leaving sponsored state before two years commitment to live has been completed
Guest posted a topic in Visa Chat
Hi there We are currently waiting to hear back from our state sponsorship application to Victoria. We applied 7 weeks ago (29th Dec 10). We are hoping to apply for a permanent skilled visa as my husband is a carpenter with his skills assessment due next week. We wanted to move to Perth, WA, however, due to the points system changing in July and my husband turning 40 in May of this year, the WA SS process would have taken too long and we'd have lost precious points. Our immigration consultant recommended that we apply for SS to Vic as they have a faster thurnaround time and then at least we would gain entry into the country, even if it isn't the state we wanted to live in. The risk we would take is not getting into Oz at all. My questions to you are: If we moved to Vic, do we have to stay there for two years or is this just a moral obligation as I've heard people say? If my husband were to be offered a job in Perth, WA, despite having looked for work in Vic, could we inform the relevant bodies that we were moving states without jeopordising our permanent visa? Could they force us to stay in Vic as this would effectively be making my husband unemployed?! Also, and the most important question, if we did move states early, would this affect the possibility of us sponsoring my parents and sister in the future? For example, would it mean we have a negative record with the immigration dept? We'd really appreciate any help or advice you can give us. Thanks!- 2 replies

Hi, My occupation has appeared on the ACT SMP list which I was hoping it would (Project and Program Administrator). We have collated all the nessacary paperwork for the application and now just have to write our commitment statement. I was wondering if anyone else had done one of these for ACT or any other state as I am not sure what/how to write the statement and what to include. In the guide it says provide evidence of Employment opportunities, research of housing, attractions etc etc. Do we go so far as printing out Job Adverts, rental adverts etc? If anyone can shed some light on this, especially those who have had successful applications! Any advice would be very appreciated! Thankyou in advance! Natalie

Does anyone have an example of a commitment letter he or she can share with me? I just want to get an idea of how to structure it. How long does it need to be? And how do you prove you did enough research? A little help here would be great... Many thanks!

Hi everyone, How much information would you say would be enough to prove your commitment to the state? I don't want to bore the pants off them by sending pages and pages of our research but obviously at the same time I don't want to send too little. Can anyone suggest a reasonable amount of info that would be sufficient ie: 3000 words, 3 pages, a whole trees worth etc. Any help/guidance will be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance Clare x

Hey everyone, Good news that WA has finally released their SS list but does anybody know if there are any financial commitments required from applicants i.e. I believe applicants for Victoria need to have $25000 in the bank to move there- is this the same for WA? I couldn't find anything.....

Hi all, We are looking at submitting a 175 application soon, and am ensuring I've got all the evidence required. myself and OH are unmarried although we have been a couple for 10 years, living together for 7 and have 2 kids. As yet we dont have a will, but it is one of the forms of evidence DIAC suggest to prove our commitment as a couple. My question is, is this really necessary? Has anybody applied and passed their visa as a defacto couple without using a will as evidence. what other evidence may I use? I do have joint life insurance??? I know a will is important anyways, but dont really want to be forking out loads of money with the big visa bill around the corner. Cheers Sarah

Gday everyone, i'm new to the forum and got a couple of question to the expert Does anyone know what happen in the 2 years commitment to living in the state after you have been granted a PR under state sponsorship? Is this 2 years have to be continuous and straight out after you got your PR, any condition I should be aware of. Say if family emergency oversea and you have to be there for couple of month, may be a year, will this possible without breaking you visa condition. Also what the chance and condition to apply for citizen ship with State sponsorship PR? I'm thinking to apply 886 Onshore though, been here 4 years. Thanks all.

Hi, I was wondering if someone could help. I've been granted a PR visa sponsored by NSW, and am currently on our reccie in Sydney and my wife and I aren't sure if Sydney is for us. I've been told by my migration agent that there is nothing in the migration act that compels us to honour the 12 month work commitment/two year living commitment to NSW. They say it is only a moral obligation. I must say it does go against the grain not to honour it, but I was wondering if there would be any consequences later down the track in applying for a returning residents visa and/or citizenship. Has anyone got any experience of these issues who could help? Many thanks Martyn

I am going to apply for skilled sponsored migration to canberra. I have positive result in skill assessment from vetassess. I do not know exactly how can I show my commitment to canberra in order to be nominated by the ACT government. If You have visited canberra and You are informed of its life style, please help me. I would be very grateful if anybody can help me to write an acceptable and proper statement for commitment to canberra. Thanks a lot.
