  1. Swinburne Football Club consists of two men's teams (Seniors and Reserves) and one women's team. The men compete in the Amateur Soccer Federation of Victoria (called VicSoccer) and play in Premier League on a Sunday Afternoon. The women compete in the Football Federation of Victoria (FFV) and play in the South East Metropolitan League. The club is affiliated with Swinburne university however most its members are non students. We have a broad mixture of cultures and nationalities who play for us. The commitee also endorse a social culture where all teams regularly attend social gatherings (organised via facebook and twitter) After 4 very succesful years - our first team coach has stepped down. We are looking to appoint an experienced 1st team coach who will lead a change of culture and drive the club to further success. During the season, training sessions are held on a Tuesday and Thursday evening. Salary expectations will be discussed during the interview stage. Pre-season training commences in late January but many of the lads have commenced their own training schedules to prepare. The committee would ideally like to appoint someone before formal training commences. As an expat (and committee member) myself, it would be a breath of fresh air to appoint an experienced expat coach looking to join a very friendly and success-hungry club. For more details or to apply for the role. Please PM me.

  6. Eeeck! My mum announced on the phone the other night that she has her bags pretty much packed and is looking forward to visiting. Then, jokingly (I hope ) said that it is pointless travelling so far for a short holiday and she is planning on 3 months. 6 weeks was also mentioned but I was still gasping for breath and trying to sound as if I was talking normally after she said 3 months so I am not sure if that really was the time she was thinking. We are not even there yet! Se is planning to come before Dec, and are plans are to be living in a 1 bed flat if poss to save money until we know where we are working. That didn't phase her said she be fine on the sofa! So the question - does Oz do those 2-5 day coach trips often aimed at the older ladies where you go off and see some sights for a while. She loves them in the UK just wondered if I might be able to reduce my stress levels during the visit by sending her on a couple of those. Vicky
  7. I'm posting this for my daughter Candi. We're moving to Aus in April next year and her boyfriend wants to join us out there. He's currently at university doing a degree in sport and aims to become either a sports teacher or a sports coach. He will finish his degree in May. How easy will it be for him to get a visa? And what sort of occupation should he be looking at if he wants to move out to Aus. I'm not sure what else to say but if anyone could offer some insight then that would be great. Thanks, Clairbear. xx

    Football Coach

I was l looking through some of the new threads and found one from a young lad who was going out with his parents, he was asking about the standard of soccer in Australia and the leagues. It got me thinking about coaching and what I could do when we finally go as I'm a UEFA B coach and I would like to use my skills if possible. Is there anone on the site that is also a football coach who is either going soon or is already over that I could link up with. Thanks
