  1. Hi Friends, We currently live in Sydney. My husband has secured a job in Carrum Downs. We have a year old son. How is Carrum Downs as a place for bringing up children? Unfortunately or not, Carrum downs does not have a train station. We would prefer to live nearby train station, because we are yet to buy a car and I have to look out for jobs, so I might have to make frequent trips to the city. I read the nearest railway stations to Carrum Downs as Seaford, Kananook on Frankston line and Cranbourne,Merinda Park on Cranbourne line. We have no idea how these places are!We would want to rent in any of these areas, or preferably somewhere close to Carrum Downs. What we are looking for most primarily are: Community minded suburb close to train station and commutable distance to Carrum Downs,a nice Childcare, close to shops, safe suburb. Suggestions/help appreciated. Thanks, Shilpa

    so close yet so far

Very frustrating :frown: After sending our 1276 visa application at our agents request to meet the July deadline. It looks like we will not be able to lodge in time as my wife, 'the main applicant' will only have 11 months experience and not the 12 months. Very frustrating consdering we had already communicated this fact in previous communications!! The new rules are not to our advantage ahhhhhhhh! For the sake of 1 month we knackered!!

    Cutting it close..?

My fiance and I decided on a date of November 19th for our marriage in Australia, and are going to process our visa application (300--->820) within a bit over a week. I worry that the time to handle my case could take so long, that the wedding would not be possible. I am living in America, and would travel to Australia for the wedding. Can anyone offer me experience or advice on this matter? Should we push the wedding back a few months and re-attain our NOIM? Should we just attempt as we are, and if it takes too long change the visa-status once we marry? We're both very worried about this, but that date and no later is the best time for our families. To change it would be to push it clear back near February.
  14. Hi guys, We have just booked our tickets for our validation trip! Soooooo exciting!!! Now I need to find a hotel near Melbourne airport just for one night as it'll be close to midnight when we get out... We'll be staying somewhere else from the next day. Can anyone recommend any good website(s) that I can use to check out/compare hotels over there? Or may be someone can recommend a hotel nearby? Thanks in advance. :cute:
  15. Morning all, Well after our grant on thursday it felt like it hadnt sunk it, but weve both been ill all weekend and i think thats taken the edge off our excitment, so we woke this morning and are feeling so much better, when i woke this morning there was little sun peering thru the blind the window was open and all i could hear was the sound of the birds cheeping and calling, it was lovely and im sure helped me wake in a better mood. I love hearing the birds forst thing in the morning as i know its kind of nice out if theyre singing away. It reminded me of when we were in brissy and we would wake every morning to a chorus from the resident lorikeets in the trees it was lovely. So just take 5 mins to sit back relax, close your eyes and listen to wahts around you, i bet youd be surprised at what you miss when your not really listening! Have a great day everyone were finally celebrating with a bbq this afternoon, no doubt in our coats, but you know what i dont care coz im going to live in australia!:jiggy::jiggy:Kelly x
  16. Hi, We have had the everything finalised now for over 3 weeks so with any luck the visa grant is imminent, we've been working towards this for 2&1/2 years so why now am i questioning whether we are ever going to go? The thought of the cost of a 3 week recce trip this year (£4k flights + £4k accom and spending money) is making me feel sick - for the reasons below we must have really good look before we commit. I am looking at the cost of living/ wages and the amount in $ we will have to set ourselves up (the exchange rate was very different when we started the process!) and wondering if we are deluding ourselves heading for a slow lingering financial suicide before a return to the UK with our tails between our legs. I have worked so hard and done so many hours all towards this goal just not sure it will all be worth it anymore.... In a way having our application declined might come as a relief and certainly wouldn't be the disaster I once thought it would be. Am I alone?
  17. Large family home available on the 16th April in a great location in Mindarie - 63 Bellport Parade. ** FIRST HOME OPEN ** WED 30TH APRIL 2.40PM ** Call to arrange another viewing if this time doesn't suit. It has four bedrooms. The master bedroom has a large en-suite, reverse cycle air con and walk in wardrobe. The three other bedrooms all offer built in wardrobes. There is a great sized living area at the front of the property and two other very good sized family areas to the rear, with reverse cycle air con and a wood-burning stove. The games room opens out to the alfresco area and overlooks the large lawn. The property has a double garage and a shopper's entry to the kitchen. There is a dishwasher, oven and pantry. It takes 4 minutes to walk to Quinns Baptist College, Peter Moyes and Mindarie College saving a huge wait in the school traffic. Or jump on the bus which is a short journey to Clarkson train station. The house is in the preferred Mindarie Primary catchment area. There is a lovely walk through the park at the end of the road, along the coastal paths to Quinns beach and Portofino's cafe. The local pub is The Boat at Mindarie Marina. Great spot! We are breaking the lease to buy. You can contact me direct to view and the agency - Century 21 in Clarkson. Secure your rental quickly and be the first to view! The rent is $470 p/week. It is available from the 16th April. My mobile is: 0426 811 558 (or +61 426 811 558). If you are coming from overseas, you can ask someone else to view on your behalf, including your relocation agent. Every estate agency has more or less the same application form from REIWA. Ask a rental agency to email or fax this to you. If you wish to rent a property you submit an application and the owner chooses the tenant they prefer. There is a lot of competition for rentals at the moment so I would advise you to get the ball rolling from the UK end so that you are not stuck, like we were! The agency details and photos are available through the link. Thanks. www.realestate.com.au/property-house-wa-mindarie-405122858

    help, close to giving up

Hi Guys what do you reckon we should do, we got our visa last feb amd activated it in may, we love the central coast in sydney and dream about it all the time, we have now took our house off the market because we just cant sell it, nothing is selling around my village at the moment, we tried renting but nothing was happeneing there either, the excahnge rate is really bad so we will lose lots of cash, we took it off the market because we have been having our life on hold for soo long, not wanting to buy this and that in case we sell tomorrow etc the other worry and concern i have is that if we try again in a couple of years my boys will be getting too old for the move at 14,12 and 8 (or wont they), so i dont know what to do, we bought a new car and strated to buy things for the house but we still live in hope of the move and talk about it all the time, i wish i could put it all to rest !!!!!!!
  19. Hi Hoping someone can clear this up for me, I have a wedding in oz next week so want to enter australia on holiday for 8 days on the evisitor visa. However in the next few days my new employer will be submitting my 457 application. If i get my evisitor in today (before the 457) - will it cause any problems, delays with my 457 application? i think my 457 is being submitted next tuesday or wednesday so i wont actually be in the country when its submitted? Surely alot of people go on vacation during the application process to check out flats and schools? Concerned the evisitor lasts for 12 months - and in some countries you can only have one visa at a tie - so they would reject 457 because i had a evisitor (even though u cant work) Thanks for your help Bryan
