  1. Hi, My family and I were granted our visas (189 for me) almost 2 years ago, and we had planned on emigrating at the start of 2021 from the UK to Australia. However, due to Corona Virus and travel restrictions in place does anybody know if you can still travel to Australia or must you have an exemption to be able to enter? I am trying to work out our timeline for moving and could push back the move till Summer 2021, however, I am still uncertain whether we would be allowed in unless I can secure a Travel Exemption. My working visa is based on me working as a Civil Engineer. I have researched the immigration website and can't find any clear answers or contact details so that I can ask the question. Furthermore, we need to have moved to Australia by October 2021 so that we can ensure we have lived in Australia for 2 out of the 5 years the visa is valid so we can more easily apply for a resident return visa after that date, hence why I am concerned about how our planned move to Australia will go now. I'd be grateful for any advice if anybody else is in a similar position and has found the answers I was unable to. Many thanks, Sarah

NEED HELP: Skill Assesment:- Civil Engineer

Dear Friends, I am quite new to the site, I did my homework to check for a thread on Civil Engineering Skill Assessment, as I couldn't find one, I post this. I am a software engineer and I am currently waiting for Case-Officer to get assigned for my Visa Application. I am writing this for my friend who is Civil Engineer and working in Singapore. He has a degree from India, which doesn't fall under accredited degree, hence he needs to fill a Application for Assessment of Competency Demonstration Report (CDR) and as a supporting document he also needs to fill Summary Statement of Professional Engineer. We together did a lot of searching in the internet and couldn't find an example for Summary Statement of Professional Engineer. I really look forward, if anyone here can be of good help. Best Regards, Adi.
  4. My husband and I, along with our three children are planning on moving to Brisbane/the Gold coast from the North of England in June. My husband got our visa based on his previous occupation as a joiner/carpenter. However he is currently finishing off a degree in civil engineering. He has no site/work experience as an engineer and we are worried he might not get any work because of this. Is there anyone out there that knows the civil engineering field or has been able to pick up work as an engineer without this experience? We would really appreciate hearing from you. Thanks.

  7. Hi every one! This forum has been a source of information for me the day I started applying for my skill assessment to the day I was granted 475. Now when the time of making a move is close i.e. November 2012, I am a little bit confused about where to head when I land in Perth. I am a Civil Engineer with 4+ experience and my wife is International Project manager in Telecom Industry with more than 7 years of experience. we have a one year old baby girl too. I must quote that I am not a person who would prefer living in a fast and busy city life. So I shortlisted Bunbury and Albany. Now I want the forum members to tell me the goods and bads about both the cities. Or any other city that can suit us. Some of my questions that needs answer are : As a Civil Engineer where are more chances to get a professional job? If initially I dont get one, where are the chances of getting a casual or part time job? Where the living is economical? Which place has good schools and hospitals? We have no issues with language or settling in a new place as my wife and I have lived in Europe too but I am sure Every place is different from each other. Your precious opinion is awaited and will be much appreciated. Please do reply and do help. Love to all Regards Shaw.

  10. Hi All, Please let me know if anyone can help!! I feel like we are jumping through hoops before we have even begun! Finally made the decision after much deliberation to go for it and start the process to emigrate to Oz and we have just sent off my OH skills assement for engineers australia. OH is a civil/structural engineer with a civil engineering degree. He enjoyed himself too much at uni and received a pass, which is not an Hons degree and therefore not acknowledged by the washington accord. He has to do a CDR in order to proove his competences, which should not be too hard as he has worked as an engineer until 5 years ago (since become a property developer, but crunch has prevented us from continuing!)and became chartered in 1999......but he has no idea where to start??? The manual is very ambiguous. Our agent has been really helpful, however he has had limited involvement with this in the past, so any help is gratefully received. OH turns 40 too in June, so can anyone also confirm if the pressure is on or not?? I have read different things in different places. Is immigration open up to 45 or is it 40? We are hopefully applying for skilled migration visa with a view to going wherever we find jobs, but Melbourne is preferred.
