People seem a tad clicky about their teams.... In Dubai couldnt get enough, football (soccer), tennis, basketball, touch, etc etc wondering if any others in need...getting to a level of desperate as the gym is getting boring. Calling any sports teams or individuals who need a sporting fit competitor and growth of a social life. james

Boxing or muay thai in Perth CBD?

Hi everyone Probably slightly off topic of moving out here so for that I apologise, but does anyone know of a boxing or thai boxing gym in Perth CBD or within realistic walking distance? I know there are some in Northbridge but too far to walk to make a class after work or on lunch. Any help would be very gratefully received. Cheers Rich
  6. Hi All, I'm heading to Perth early November and will have a 457 visa. Just curious as to where the 'young professionals' tend to live. I'm 26 and will be working in the CBD so obviously I'll need somewhere commutable from there by public transport. Can you guys give me any pointers? Thanks, Bevan
  7. I'm moving to Melbourne to go to school in July 2012. I've been looking at suburbs to rent in not far from the city with maybe a 30minute commute. I would like to rent a decent 2bedroom at no more that $250/week. Can you help me find out some good suburbs.
  8. Hello, My family and I are moving to Melbourne in January 2012. My partner James is a carpenter so he will find work in his field, however I would also like to get a job. Our little girl is 10 months old so I would only like to work part time 3 days a week or about 4 hours per day Mon - Fri. I currently work for Leeds Metropolitan University working as a course administrator and would love to work for a Uni in Melbourne, I have joined all the job alerts at the Uni so any jobs that come up I'm applying for but I know there will be lots of competition. If I can't get a job at a University any admin job would be fine, I was just wondering if anybody had a rough idea of an hourly rate I would expect to get. I'm 32 and have worked at the University for 6 1/2 years and have done lots of temping and admin jobs so I'm quite experienced. Thanks Hayley xx

    CBD Accommodation - Recommendation

hi all Just to say we've now been in Adelaide nearly 3 months and loving it. Lifestyle so much easier here.. We wanted to recommend La Loft Apartments for their accommodation available in and around the CBD. We stayed in one of their places, a townhouse off Halifax Street for nearly two months. The house is so well located - excellent area if you like city living. Right near the free section of the tram and an easy walk to the main business areas too. Well equipped facilities, including a garage. Very comfortable with good housekeeping service too. It is not the cheapest place you could rent and cost is definitely a factor here but for us it paid off to be so near the city and easy to do everything we needed to do. Kevin and Simon are really helpful. We have now moved out west to Henley, which is fantastic. Good luck all TNR
  12. Hi All , Looking for some advice re looking for work in the Banking and finance area specifically in Melbourne. Currently UK based but planning on emigrating at some point next year. Have 25 years London City experience in mainly Operations (you may call it settlements over there) and more recently in a general compliance/KYC & AML role at a boutique asset managers, dealing with HNWI's & professional clients. I am looking to ascertain if such roles or are easy/difficult to come by? especially as at the time of emigrating I will not be affiliated to any current global organisation! .i.e I'm on my own competing in the jobs marketplace! I have heard that 'Melbourne experience' is invaluable but was hoping this would not deter any potential employers? A big step but due to family reasons I feel my future is destined to be in Oz. Any suggestions , ideas , help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Mark.

  16. Would like to meet up with anyone around this vicinity! We have 2 little boys 3.5 and 20 months... We're in an apartment in the CBD at the mo, but looking to get together with some folks to make friends and glean a bit local knowledge Looking to move in 2 or 3 weeks into our own rented place (or perhaps a holiday park until our shipping container arrives!) 17. Hey all, I'm moving over to Sydney at the end of the month and getting my head around which area's to live is hurting my brain! To start off with, I'll be supporting the OH and have put an upper limit of $450 a week for a bit. I was thinking somewhere around Newtown or Marrickville to get a base and then shop around as I need to get to the CBD for work. I've read some decent things about Newtown (and some bad), but not a lot about Marrickville...thoughts? I'll be in a hostel for a couple of weeks when I arrive, so can do a bit of shopping about. Eventually when the OH is up, running and working, I'd like to end up near the beach, but not just yet. Any other suggestions will be warmly welcomed. FYI, I live in London (Putney) and travel about 50 mins to the city every day. Thanks! Adam

    commute to Melbourne CBD

Hi just wondering how long is the commute from Mount Eliza to CBD, and which other areas close to Mount Eliza would make the commute easier ? Thanks
  19. Hi everyone! I'm moving to Sydney in a couple of months and would love to know your opinion on the suburbs that have the best or worst transport. Since my guide is only a map, it would be helpful if anyone can tell me what roads I should be looking at so I can understand if the suburb has convenient transport to the city. I have looked up links but seem to find nothing that helps me understand it. Really confusing if you don't live in Sydney yet. Thanks a bunch XX :arghh: <---- me after looking at a Sydney map
  20. All welcome starting in the Establishment on George Street afterwork this Thursday.
  21. Hi All, Anyone live in Woy Woy and commute to Sydney? I have looked at the trains at it seems to be 1hour and 20mins to Town Hall Station. Is this realistic? Do they run on time? I used to go up to the Central Coast a lot when I lived out there 6yrs ago but always drove. We need a house with a garden (as we have two dogs) but we are looking at around $600pw in Sydney, yet similar properties in Woy Woy are half that! There also seems to be more off leash areas (inc beaches...yay!) which is another big selling point for us! Any advice from anyone that does that commute would be really appreciated! Danielle x
  22. I didn't have a huge amount of friends when I moved away from Oz to the UK, and now I am back am wanting to greatly expand my social network as I did in the UK and met some awesome peoples there. Port Melbourne or CBD?

Hello all! My company have offered me a choice of accommodation (1 month duration) in either the CBD or Port Melbourne. My office is in Port Melbourne and there is a beach there (although it is winter at the moment), but I am hoping to live in Richmond so being in the CBD would be ideal to check out this and surrounding areas. My only concern about living in the CBD is this; Is it anything like Canary Wharf or the Square Mile in London? i.e. Once all the business people have gone home, the place effectively shuts down and is like a ghost town? Thanks
  24. Hello I am 34 years old and my partner Steve is 35. We have just moved to Bondi Junction and would love to meet up with anyone in the surounding areas for a few drinks. We've been here 6 weeks and we're loving it so far but just finding it difficult to meet people. The transport is really good so we can get to anywhere on the Southern shore pretty easily so could meet up with people from surrounding areas. If you're interested, let us know and we can arrange a get together.:jiggy: Debbie
