  1. Does anyone know if it's possible to find out which priority category your application has been given? If I can confirm this I can be sure of the timescales for the processing of my application. I applied 18/03/2011 and the E-Visa online system just says 'processing commenced'. I don't know the expected timescales as I'm unsure of the priority my application has been given. Thanks
  2. We are applying for 176 State Sponsored Visa with WA. My oh is electrician so question is how do you know which category you will fall into? thanks

    What are the categories?

How can we find out what category we are under? We are waiting to SS by SA and it is now 8 weeks and I have noticed how some people get SS in a couple of weeks. Getting quite anxious. Thanks Michelle

    Categories etc.

I see several threads regarding Category 2, 3 etc. I cannot find any mention of Categories on the immigration website, are these Pre July 2010 or do they relate to Priority 1-4 groups? I think I would qualify for a 175 or 176 (state sponsored). Am I right in thinking that the 176 would have a shorter processing time? I'd prefer the flexibility of the 175 but a shorter processing time could sway me towards a 176.
  5. I have just lodged my 176 state sponsored visa (with SA). With no state announcing their SMP I assume I am a Cat 3 and that no-one is currently a Cat 2 as no state have yet released their SMP. Once SA releases their SMP will I automatically go in to Cat 2?? Any advice greatly welcomed.
  6. Hi folks. Though it has been a looonnnggg time since I was granted PR and then citizenship I still try and take an interest in the latest goings on with DIAC etc. I guess I could trawl the net again, BUT. Could some kind soul please explain (slowly, as a bit thick) what certain letters mean, i.e., SMP, (I think this means state migration plans:chatterbox:). There are a whole heap of new categories since I first applied twenty years ago, or maybe someone could point to a simple link that says what the letters mean. I often read a post/thread and am TOTALLY confused as to the letters involved. Would be nice to have a basic grasp so I can understand better the whole post/thread. I know I'm being lazy, but it is often the people who are living and breathing the experience that have a far better grasp of the situation. Many thank Tony.

    categories ?????................

Hi All, clan mac here, been a member since Jan and still trying to get used to the "visa speak". I have been reading lots of threads about categories 1 - 6. At the risk os sounding like a complete nungy can someone explain what the differences are please? Actually I have been desperate to ask for ages and never had the nerve to do it! :embarrassed: Be gentle with me! Grateful thanks, Lorraine (clan mac) x :notworthy:
  8. Hi I am just in the process of putting together our supporting evidence for the defacto partner visa and am doing it without an agent. I've read through the migration handbook and on page 40 it states the evidence to show supporting your claims of being a couple; these being; • Financial Aspects • The nature of the household • Social Context of the relationship • The nature of your commitment to each other So should i organise my evidence (letters, bills, stat decs) in this order within these 'chapters'? I have seen other peoples TOC and they have put theirs in a different order completly (and with different categoies) but i am assuming this is because these were posted in 2005. How have any of you done your TOC's lately? • Oh one other thing no one seems to do joint account these days unless you are married so alot of our bills are addressed to one person - is it useful to include a statement explaining that we couldn't get joint bills? (obviuosly we have the joint bank account, i'm talking about BT, Council Tax, Tv Licence...) Thanks for any and all help!! dean
