Can any one help ... I have been racking my brains as to why family sponsor has been moved to cat 4 and yet state sponsor is cat 3. I understand the reasoning behind it , that diac wants to put people into specific states to fill the need for required trades/skills, but over the last few months I have been reading some post and it seems if you decide to change state once visa has been granted there is nothing that the diac can do ! Surley anyone considering applying for a 176 visa will opt for state sponsor over family and then go wherever they like . Is this the case ? :confused:

Hi all This from a DIAC report, dated June 10th: I think they mean January 2012 for allocating PG3 outside Australia applications. Assuming PG1-3 inflows continue, PG4 allocations look like being a long way way. Very unfortunate for those in PG4, and patience has its rewards for PG3. I suggest PG4 and some PG3s in a hurry look at other options such as 457.

Hi, I was told by many Cat3 applicants that they received a letter from DIAC indicating a CO will be assigned for them in the next 3 months, urging them to get PCC + health checks done (they got this letter around March 18th) - however, I did not get such a letter. Anyone may have an idea why? Do you think I should also get prepared?

I did a bit of statistical calculations on the CAT 2 and CAT 3 applications: from the link provided.. FYI :Statistics - Migration Agent Activity Reports and Statistics The CAT 2 applications from (Oct 2009- Oct 2010) - 13356 cases submitted The CAT 3 applications from (Oct 2009- Oct 2010) - 19119 cases submitted. CAT 2 : CO allocations started in Nov2010 and are onto current dates by Feb 2011 CAT2 Average : 890 cases per week allocated to CO. ( Nov - 17th Feb 2011) CAT 3: Now, I am projecting the below to happen for CAT 3 allocations:-(if I consider an average of 4k application in between June 2009-Oct2009) - Total of 23119 cases starting this week. CAT 3 Average: if I take 890-900 allocations based on CAT 2 allocations. CAT 3 will take :23119/900 = ~25 weeks. so between March 2011 - Sept 2011. All applications upto Jan 2011 should be allocated CO's. PS: Not counting CAT 2 fallouts, CAT 3 fallouts into CAT 4 etc.( ppl with VE176 SS not in new SMP/SOL or VE175 applicants not in SOL). No work at office so atleast worked out the below logic,for some discussion. Experts your thoughts.:notworthy:

Howdy fellows, just read some rumours here on PIO that a revised SOL is about to be announced in January (effective for FY 2011/12 I reckon). I was just wondering about what might happen to an applicant whose occupation is on the current SOL but not on the revised one. Will his/her application then be handed down the queue to category 4? This would be quite cruel but I wouldn't be too surprised if it happened. What do our RMAs think about that? Cheerio Uli

Hey, My online status as well as my recent inquiry to DIAC refers to the allocation of case officer in my 886 application- Priority category 3, on 16/08/2010 !! But havent got any updates since then ! Only the documents changed to RECEIVED!!! Anyone with same situation? I thought its gonna take 2 months max for decision after the allocation !!! Any advice, suggestion? Cheers ! -
hi,I got ACS-assessment and applied 175 visa on 09.2009.Offshore. The position of my job on the ACS letter is "Applications programmer".2231-17 Am I on the new cat3 now? I'm not quite sure cause on this page - Skilled Occupation Lists (Formerly Known as Form 1121i) it says: "the current SOL (schedule 3) – ...applicants eligible for transitional arrangements if they prefer to use it." Does it mean ,I have to do something to map my occupation to 261312 like re-assessment or just waiting now? I PLE the DIAC 20 days ago but got nothing. Thanks a lot.

I did my visa pre 14 july on 5/6/2010 i contacted Immigration and asked they said i should wait till i get a CO and let him ask for your Meds etc; I was cat 5 then but now cat 3 should i still wait to get them :unsure:

Hi Guys, I am wondering how many of us are old Cat7 moved up to Cat3!! I applied in June 2008. Nothing till now and no CO ... just waiting...
