  1. We have a lovely caravan in excellent condition. If we can find out if it is possible to take over with us, OH will fit air-conditioning.
  2. Hi Guys, My O/H has come up with the idea that when we get to Oz we stay in a caravan for the first 6 to 12 months so as to save money for a deposit on a mortgage and find an area we want to buy in which in theory sounds like a good idea and i'm all for it, my only concern is my son who will be 14 and i don't want him getting stick at school for living in a caravan, obviously i'm not sure if this is normal in Oz for families to live in caravans long term or whether there is a stigma attached to it i.e UK= gypsies, USA=trailer trash etc etc, my son is in no way spoilt or materialistic but i would like him to fit in and make friends etc as would any parent and i wouldn't want to jeopardise this in any way as we all know kids can be cruel, Please don't take this post the wrong way i by no means intend to come across as snobby i'm just trying to get the general feel for what Australians think of people in caravans on a long term basis Thanks xx
  3. Hi, We have been looking to rent a caravan in the Perth area. We are going for a year from March 2012 and have seen a brilliant camp site called BlueGum, but they are in Melbourne. We are looking for a Static type of van. We don't want to spend an absolute fortune because we want to be able to live whilst we are there. Does anyone know of any good static long term camp site in Perth, WA? Many Thanks for any Info that could help us? Cheers David.

    Shipping Caravan

Hi All, Need some advice on this one. We are wondering what the thoughs, costs and taxes would be payable on an 18ft 4 berth single axle caravan if we imported it from Ireland. I know they are different in Oz but our caravan is worth about 10K Euro here and a similar one in Oz looks to be about 40K$ +. I know we might need to add a few bits like Oz Gas fitting etc but has anyone shipped their caravan or is it just not worth it. Looking forward to hearing some info on this. Kind regards

  15. Hi there, We have an Ideal Family Caravan at a Bargain Price !!! for sale. It is a Jayco Sterling 5 berth caravan (2007), but was first registered in April 2008. It comes with the following: Annex Brand new unused awning Full bathroom with toilet and shower Washing machine Flat screen TV DVD/CD/MP3 player with speakers aircon and heating Dometic 3-way fridge Microwave Gas hotwater system Full stainless steel oven with one electric hob (the electric hob is a real bonus at caravan parks - it means you don't have to use your own gas) L-shaped dining room Queen size bed Triple bunks It comes with all hoses electric cables etc. Exterior 240V outlet A great family van. Absolute bargain and has all the creature comforts. We can email photos for those who are interested. It would be a great van for the big trip around OZ or just for holidays. We wish we could keep it, but can't. We paid nearly $60000 for the caravan and annex. We're selling them for $48000. Phone (07) 4045 3401.
  16. Well, I came across some lovely caravan parks with Cabins (ensuite) in Sydney area (south mainly). Some of them look really nice and I am taking into consideration renting one of them when I arrive in Sydney. Prices vary a lot, some reasonably priced and some expensive too. So I am not sure yet if this is worth it... Any of you have experience with these and do you suggest any good sites? Cheers B1K3R

We've looked into shipping a caravan from the Uk to Brisbane and found it to be reasonably straightforward and worthwhile, the only problem is in finding an insurance company in Aus that will insure an imported caravan. Can anyone help. Has anyone else done this with success. Thanks, Les.
