    Business Visa 163 capped

Hi, keep hearing that business visas have been capped, and that they wont start processing again until july 10. I spoke with DIAC a few weeks ago and they never said this, just that they were sticking to their 9mth timescale! Haven't really heard anything from my agents since they took their money and sent application off, quite disappointed in them if these rumours are true. Has anyone else been told the same.DIAC were processing latter july 09 applications, so if they are full already why do they keep accepting applications, as that is only one months worth plus backlog from previous year that have filled the 7500 visa count. If thats the case my application was sept 09 so i should get mine in 2 yrs time!!!! I am so fed up with keep being told different timescales, the whole process has been 2yrs and we are supposed to be priority processing!! Sorry for moaning! x
  5. Capping and ceasing of specified offshore GSM applications lodged before 1 September 2007 – 1 July 2010 On 8 February 2010, the Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, Senator Chris Evans, announced that applications for certain offshore skilled migration visas made before 1 September 2007 would be capped and ceased. The Minister has now set the maximum number of visas that can be granted for the specified visa classes in the 2009-10 financial year. As the cap has now been reached, applications subject to the capping decision have now ceased. As part of this process the relevant Visa Application Charge(s) will be returned to the applicant and information about the method of repayment will be available on this website shortly. The following visa subclasses have been affected by this arrangement. Skill Matching (Subclass 134) Skilled – Independent (Subclass 136) Skilled – State/Territory-Nominated Independent (Subclass 137) Skilled – Australian Sponsored (Subclass 138) Skilled – Designated Area Sponsored (Subclass 139). 6. Dear all, After reading the thread for agents only, the recent seminar took place in Sydney, 1 of the point did mentioned:- 5. Some discussion among migration agents suggests that the cap and kill provisions might be used to knock off particular occupations or combinations of occupations and English skills. The suggestion is that the oversupply of cooks and hairdressers in the backlog, as well as accountants with less that 7.0x4 on their IELTS test, may be the next group to be capped and killed. posted by George Lombard May I know how soon it will start to implement? I am so afraid to be ceased as I am from 2008 applicant. I have been waiting for 2 years now and really hope that this is not true. I will be resitting my IELTS hope to get 7 for all. Sad  Ozwonderful
