    Camper van!

I'm landing in brisbane 7th January, Do any backpackers on here have a camper van for sale? Staying in a hostel for 3 weeks, then hoping to get a van and go explore! Ideally a bog standard camper, with a bed. Although I won't complain if there are more luxuries  Thank you!
  3. Hello!!!!! My boyfriend and I are travelling from Melbourne to Cairns April - May 2014 (and then settling in Melbourne afterwards), NEVER travelled in a campervan or to Oz so any hints or tips would be VERY very welcome haha ! Also...debating on a campervan with a shower and toilet (or not!)...is this needed as I've seen many people say that there are plenty of public amenities along the way, and it's pointless paying the extra?? Do we need to pre book camp sites in advance and if so how long in advance? We're quite open with regards to the trip/length of stay at each place so not quite sure how to tackle this one! ANY info would be greatly received! Thanks in advance  Xx
  4. Hey, We are leaving Australia very soon and need to sell our campervan, only $950! Currently near Byron Bay if anyone is around and interested..
  5. Hey guys! My boyfriend and I have been travelling up the east coast of Australia for 3 months now and it has come to the time to sell him and move on! I was just wondering if there was anyone on here that would be interested in buying, or coming to look/test drive it! We have an ad on gumtree if you guys want to take a look - http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/brisbane-city/campervan/mitsubishi-express-l300-campervan-for-sale-engine-warranty/1020197908 We put a new engine and alternator in and it has warranty on all parts which is definitely reassuring! We've put the price on for 6000 but its definitely negotiable! We're around the Brisbane area at the moment but willing to drive down to Sydney or up to Cairns if need be! Thanks!
  6. We are aware that its hard to import certain woods and other material's into Oz ,but a large part or our campervan is wood. So what will happen with it ,will the customs guys fumigate it or strip it out ,or is it not a problem ,its not a factory built camper, but is well built although i'm not sure what all the different types of wood are, here's some pics. We don't want to get it over Adelaide only to be refused entry into Oz. Cheers Kev.

New Campervan The ECCO goes on sale in 2014

Wow is the world really going to turn all star treckie. I can't imagine it will have 4 wheel drive options:nah: Passengers enter the 4.5m-long Ecco vehicle through a stairway that folds into the ceiling. The space is then transformed with a flip-out top deck, collapsible walls and fold-down seats for extra room. The Ecco sleeps five and is also eco-friendly with a solar-panelled roof that charges its battery and producing zero emissions. An eight-hour charge promises to keep it running for 24 hours, and it will be able to reach a top speed of 145km/h.

    Car hire/ campervan hire vic/mel

Hi We have our flights booked for Feb to validate our visa and need to either hire a car or maybe a campervan for 2 adults 2 children. 10. I've just been granted my working holiday visa,me and my gf plan to fly over in early 2012.We want to do a bit of travelling first (up the east coast) but we've got a bit of a dilemma. We are unsure whether to hire a campervan whilst travelling or use the greyhound/oz experience bus and stay in various hostels.I think i'm leaning more towards the campervan idea.I've seen a couple of decent prices from companies,Has anyone done anything similiar?it'd be great to hear other people experiences, and good/bad points of both options.

  14. Need some suggestions please. We are moving to Adelaide in June but we have decided to Land in Sydney, pop up to see some friends in Newcastle and then drive round the Great Ocean road to Adelaide. Now, we are expecting that all to take a couple of weeks and when we land in Sydney we will also have 8 suitcases plus hand baggage as their are four of us each with 50kg baggage allowance (thanks emirates) So my dilemma is whether we hire a minibus and use motels on the journey or a campervan which is more expensive but saves the motels, and then on yesterday's wanted down under I noticed when they arrived they had a hire car and trailer and hadn't even thought of that as an option (anyone done that??) So does anyone have any other suggestions or comments on my options to help me narrow things down?? Daniel

Melbourne in May in a Campervan

Hi we are in the process of booking our validation visit to Melbourne The cheapest flights we can get are in May, so looking to go half term week for approx 9 days like most peeps we are on a tight budget so looking to book a likle camper van for the duration of out visit (two adults on 11 year old) Our questions are will we be too cold in a van in May ? can you recommend anyone cheap to book one with? cheers Claire x:smile:
  18. Hi Hopefully moving to Gold Coast area end July/ begining Aug and will be looking for a car to buy if anyone will be selling around that time. I'm probably a bit eary but trying to be organised! I'd really love a convertible but not sure if we will be able to afford (we have one here in Scotland so would be nice to have one in Oz!) as cars seem more expensive in Oz. Also might be interested in a campervan!!
  19. Dear all we ave a 1986 vw van much loved by all had planned to sell it but like everything at mo cant get good price now wondering bout bringing it any advice?
  20. We yet have no where to live when we get to melbourne and are planning on going end of April/landing begin of May. After looking into renting properties it suddenly occured to me if it might be a cheaper option to hire a camper and sleep in that, killing 2 bireds with one stone as we wud need some wheels to get about and look at places anyway. Has anyone else done this, or am I just being stupid!!?lol! We have a 9 month old baby so obviously camper wud have to also be suitable for her!
  21. We are hiring a 6 berth campervan (family of 4) for our reccie in April (Easter), to travel from Sydney to Brisbane over 10 days (first 4 days of hol are in Melbourne). Wanted to see the real Oz & get a feel for cooking for ourselves, prices of food etc, but have a few questions about the more mundane side of camping. So if anyone with previous experience can answer some/all of them it would be appreciated! 1. Do we really need to prebook campsites? Am concerned with us travelling right over the Easter break that we won't get in anywhere. 2. Do we really need to be on a campsite every night? (with planning to drive most of day it should charge up 2nd battery enough to last overnight(?) - so main reason for stopping on site is to fill up/empty water, and use facilities for decent shower)? 3. If not on a campsite where are we allowed to park up? (or where are we NOT allowed to park?) Can anyone recommend any free sites en route? (I read on another thread that councils have free sites - how do I find out about these?) 4. How long on average would the water tank last? (ours will be approx 90L) 5. how often does waste water need emptying? (approx150L) and is this straight forward? 6.how long does a gas cylinder last? If anyone has any additional hints & tips, or links to useful websites it would be very gratefully received! Thanks Kath
