Hi everyone! Just wondered if anyone is living in the Campbelltown area of NSW? Myself, my husband & our nearly 1 year old son have been here for a couple of months now, but I am finding it quite lonely being home all day with the little one. Been over to one of the play-groups, but it's very 'clicky', so wondered if there were any fellow poms in the area? Would be great to hear from anyone. Thx

Hi all, I am new to this board as of today and have been hunting for information on nice places to stay in Sydney. I'm due to leave the UK in Feb for a minimum of a 3 year stay in Sydney. I have just accepted a job offer in Campbelltown but I would like to live close to a train station and as close to the coast as possible and commute in. More specifically I'm looking for a direct journey but a maximum of 1 change for the train journey would be ok too, and a maximum total journey time of around 1 hour. Somewhere on the South line or East Hills line would be ideal but I'm struggling to find much info about them. I'd really appreciate any help that can be offered! Cheers! G

Campbelltown - good area for schools,Parks and general living
jo13 posted a topic in New South Wales
I have sent a post earlier to this thread, but seeing what people have posted back has really scared me. But I am thanking you -am not mad. Honesty is what I want to hear. Reality hits when I realise that $50K that my husband has been offered is no-where near OK to live & survive on. I know people say that lower house prices reflect the area that they are in - So True. I am after an area for my 3 children with good schools Age 11,8 & 2. I will be staying at home for a while, but would eventually love to work part time when the baby goes to school & my husband has been offered a position near Oatley where he may have to fly to Brisbane,Melbourne often to begin with. His potential new employer have offered to sponsor him and have offered a ball point figure of $50K. I hope we can push for more as this is a job they have advertised and couldnt find anyone til my hubby's CV was sent to them. So in a way we could negotiate. We will be selling our home here in NI & hope to have a profit of £200K+ - enough to live on for a while but dont want to eat away at it as it will be going towards our new home though we will have to rent for a while. I think a budget of $400k - $450K in this current situation would be enough so we cannot look in the areas that are much higher than this without commuting 1.5hours +. Is Campbelltown an area to look at? Good schools etc Parks. I have come to the conculsion that the beach is not a big factor - just need to be within 1 hours commute. Your help would be great. **Updated** I realise after some research that Campbelltown will not be an area I will be looking at, I think that Sutherland Shire may be a better are for what I want - schools, family orientated with better reviews. Any suggestions with a budget of $400 - $450K? JO - 8 replies

Ive heard some bad reports of this town and some suburbs but also been given a list of good suburbs by the people im going to work for. Just wondered if anybody lived around here and what the rental prices were like, also schools shops etc. Thanks:notworthy:
