  1. My husband, daughter and I are moving to aus on 30th April 2011. We were going to base ourselves in Buderim. Any info on the place would be great. We would be looking to rent. Picked Buderim for it's position. We would like to be near mountains, beach and country. We have visited Aus four times since 2001 and did not get a good look at Buderim. Thx
  2. Hi everyone! My husband and I, along with our 14 month old son, are planning to move to the Sunshine Coast in June. We have visas sorted, have sold our house and booked the flights, just no idea where to stay when we get there! We don't have jobs yet, we are both secondary school teachers (PE and Science) but are prepared to work in any job until we find something perfect. So no tie to a location for a job. We are hoping to find somewhere to rent before we fly out, maybe in somewhere like Buderim which seems to have a lot of positive reports or Sippy Downs? Any suggestions of real estate agents or areas to target for rentals would be greatly appreciated! Obviously having a 14 month old in tow we definitely do not want to arrive without a place to stay! So any help with securing a temporary home would be brilliant :cute: Thanks in advance for any help!

    Mooloolaba Nippers Sign On

Its the Mooloolaba Surf Club Nippers sign on - 9th Sept. http://mooloolabasurfclub.com.au/active/nippers/sign-up/ If you live near the ocean and your kids love the beach then they need to be safe and know how to read the beach. Nippers will teach them that and they'll have great fun.
  4. Just curious and wondering why all the English people coming from the UK are moving to Buderim. Does Buderim have a good reputation in the UK or is it just word of mouth. Is it the location or the schools or because there are already a lot of english people in the area.

    info on buderim

Is there anyone out there who has any info on buderim? Looks like a really nice place to settle in. Is there much construction work in and around the area? What are the average house prices like? Nightlife, entertainment, shops? U get the gist, any info, i would be very grateful. Cheers Jay Mc
  6. HI everyone, just looking for some well timed PIO advice. We have been in Oz for 8 years now, but are finally heading to the sunny coast in Dec this year. We have often toyed with the idea of going home but have decided that before any major decisions are made we have to have the life we wanted when we first arrived and has needless to say eluded us so far. Also hoping to finally be part of an expat community with like minded people and this site has definitely got that, as I have been stalking the socialising threads for a while now, dreaming we could take part. Anway I digress, after reading a lot of posts on here it seems Buderim has something we have obviously missed. We have always visited the beachside suburbs and Noosa, Coolum, Mooloolaba and Tewantin were originally high on our list. But looking at it logically, further back areas like Mountain Creek or the Seaside area at Mount Coolum seem to be a better option. So I am just looking for advice really on the positives and negatives from people who live there.:goofy: We have 2 girls 3 and 1, so need parks and activites to do. Bike riding, Dog walking etc Can anyone recommend any Daycare's in the area? I am a teacher but have heard work is mega tough to find? Are there any teachers out there? I am doing my Cv up now to start the job hunting process. Hubby has resigned to commute to the mines until he can get work maybe in the city..he is an electrician. Any of them on the sunny coast??? We are coming down for a reckie at the end of Sept, but would love to get some areas on our map to check out. Sorry its a bit long:chatterbox: Thanks Lis

    Buderim and Mooloolaba

Hi all, I've been in Oz as a permanent resident for 3 weeks now, Im currently staying with my brother in Sandgate and my wife and 7 year old son will join me the 1st week of August. My wife had chosen Buderim as the place she'd like to begin our new lives without ever going there, just from research on the internet, reviews of schools, demographics etc. This weekend I snagged my brothers triumph bonneville and had a cruise up there to check it out. I've fallen in love with the place. its gorgeous. I now am determined we will settle in Buderim or mooloolaba. I have a question though, what are my chances of finding work there compared to Brisbane? I'm a carpenter by trade. and do any of you know what the commute to Brisbane from the sunshine coast is like during the week? I imagine friday night and monday morning may be hell. Regards, Billy

    Anyone in Buderim????

Hi, After 12 years in NZ, we are leaving Earthquake-ravaged Christchurch, and moving to Buderim in a few weeks - we have 2 daughters aged 10 and 12, and a son aged 6. Is there any other families on this site who also live in Buderim with kids of this age? They have been thru so much here with over 5000 aftershocks and the cliffs behind their school collapsing in the Feb 22nd quake. Carrie

  13. Hi All, First post! A bit of background.. My husband, myself and our two kids: 4 and 1, are currently looking into buying a property in the Buderim area (been there on holiday and loved it!) I am a Physiotherapist and my hubbie works in IT. He is an Aussie and I am from the UK but we've all lived in Sydney for the last 9 years and now want a bit more peace and quiet! We love the beach and countryside so believe that the Buderim area has a bit of both! I was born in England- Manchester, but spent the majority of my youth in Scotland (in-land from Aberdeen) so miss the freedom of not living in a City! Sydney has been great but now the kids are getting older I want them to have more freedom! Anyway, back to my questions! There is nothing like getting inside info from people that actually live in an area, so that is why I am here! I have a few questions so any advice would be GREATLY received! 1) The primary school in Buderim - any good? I've found lots of info on the High Schools in the area, but not so much on the primary schools. It does appear that the Mountain Creek high school is the best high school but I much prefer the houses around Buderim, and I believe this is not in the catchment for MCSS? 2) Are there any areas/streets in Buderim we should steer clear of....with all the rain and landslides recently, how has this affected some areas of Buderim? 3) This is the really sad question, but I am sure everyone moving to a new area thinks this, but is it a friendly area to make friends? I am assuming with having young kids we will meet families in the same situation? We are coming up next week to look at a few properties and our plan is to rent it out if we get somewhere soon. Then , when we get good job offers up there, we will move up...be it very soon, or in a year or so. It would be great, in particular to know about the better areas to look from those in the know:wink:

  18. Hey guys, So after a speaking to my Mum, she mentioned that they are having their next night at the Buderim Tavern, Its called 'The Uptown Club' and basically they have a night every 2-3 months, the last one was 'Soul Divas' and was very successful by all accounts, this time its '70's Night' info below this isnt a cheap punt for them as it is a very successful night, but thought there may be some new guys to the area, or just anyone in the area wanting a night out and to meet people. below are the 3 ladies that organise it together. (Mother in the middle!) If you want any further let me know etc... just thought it may be useful!! Tickets now on sale for saturday 20th November at the Buderim Tavern "saturday night fever" over 40's disco $20 for a night of fun, dancing and blasts from the past. Dress: 70's disco, after 6 NO JEANS
  19. After 6 full on weeks in oz, I have moved in to Buderim with my familly. Older kids have just started school at Buderim Moutain SS this week (fingers crossed that has gone well). However, I'm suddenly missing all my friends in the Uk and I am not sure where to go with my 3.5 year old during the day. Any suggestions welcome. Or if anybody looking for company and fun with toddlers give me a shout. Donna
  20. Hi All Just a quick reminder that there is a PIO meet tonight (3rd Sept) at 7pm at the Buderim Tavern, Buderim (of course). As you enter the car park from the main road go into the Tavern by the doors on the right hand side of the building (Sports Bar - but no pokies, called sports bar because it has a couple of pool tables. Go straight through to the back room (enclosed verandah) and there will be a table for us which would seat about 20 persons and also bar menus on the table (bar food very good) When you enter the Tavern from the main road and there is no parking spaces, turn right, then left at the end, down the slope to the overflow carpark. Park up then walk up the stairs at the back. Turn left at the top of the stairs and into the sports bar. Hope to see many of you there (children also welcome) Caz & Barry Beckham - (Posh 'n' Becks to you lot!!)

    Buderim, where to live?

We move to Buderim in hopefully the next couple of months. I have been house searching online and have seen suitable properties on the Mons Rd. Does anyone have any recommendations / comments about this area? Also any suggestions where might be most suitable for a family with 4 kids to be. We live in a small rural village in the UK. Thanks
