  1. Hi. I'm moving over to Brisbane in August this year and I'm looking for a job as ICT Project Manager. I have 8 years of experience and good recommendations. So now I wonder how difficult it will be to find a job once I touch down. I will have a work visa in place and can start working ASAP. What do you guys think? Any idea please. Anyone in the similar situation or experience? All information is valuable. Thanks.
  2. Hi all, As the title states, I'd really appreciate some tips or advice about work here in Brisbane. I'm a white collar working in the construction industry (Contracts Administrator/Quantity Surveyor) and have recently relocated from Perth to Brisbane (long story but I was sold a business opportunity that didn't appear - big mistake). Anyway as most will know, work here is very quiet and so I'm more than happy to look at freelance work doing anything at all. It's been mentioned in previous posts that Brits don't often consider taking alternative work whilst waiting for their career position and so I'm happy to keep the wolves from the door by labouring (I'm 40yo), fruit picking, whatever. My question to you wonderful people is, to circumvent hours of searches and talking to useless companies, can anyone offer guidance as to good labour agencies, ones they've used in the past and also any ideas of jobs that may be easily obtainable to an eager Brit looking to earn a few dollars. Thanks in advance to anyone responding. Cheers Steve PS - I may add that the wife and I love it here in Brisbane and are determined to make it work.
  3. Hi everyone first time on forum so i hope i have done this correctly i apologies if i have not. I have loads of questions and any help on anything would be much appreciated. My wife and i have been granted our P.R visa and have decided to move to Brisbane or Ipswich we like the look of Springfield but it all depends on where we can get work, my wife is a nurse and i am an electrician so was wondering if you could recommend any nice suburbs near hospitals with very low risk of flooding with a good catholic primary school which my son will be attending once old enough as he is only 4 months just now.We like the look of Springfield Lakes we know there is a primary school called Good Shepherd Catholic Primary School so any info on that school and area would be superb.also we are coming on holiday for 3 weeks in September to validate our visa's and do a bit of recon on suburbs, work, schools way of life everything basically to get a rough idea of where we want to be before we move permanently next year very apprehensive about getting up and going now we have our son to consider should have probably done this before applying for our visas to see if we liked it first but where is the fun in that lol, also if any one could recommend any nice clean cheap holiday apartments/homes prob in the centre of Brisbane good for access to all areas we are looking at Kangaroo point holiday apartments just now so any reviews on that would be good. Anyway sorry for being a pain there is only so much i can learn from internet searches and with no family or friends in OZ it makes it hard as prob most of you will know as i said any info on anything would be excellent hope to talk to you all soon cheers Tony.

  5. OMG, at last booked mt flights, very last minute....... those of you may remember I have if and butted about going to move to australia.... well....atlast I have taken the plunge to go and see what its like. we are leaving on tuesday :arghh: I cant quite believe it, we are landing in Brisbane on thursday...:chatterbox: and I dont know where we are going to go...... I have strict orders from my mum to find out about a nursing job for her...although shes 54, and I need to find out about becoming a solicitor in Queensland. I have opted for Brisbane, for the weather... it has to be warmish in winter. But the strange thing is, Im really anxious about going, not really excited, just worried and I have no idea where to go but we think we will hire a camper van and do some touring. I dont know if Im mad or what... but spending a lot of money going to see australia..when I should be putting it in to the bathroom, which needs a new bathsuite!! Did anyone else feel this uneasy about going on holiday??? I dont know whats wrong with me.... I think I know that I am going to love it and its going to send my life in to upheaval, as i will want to immigrate. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
