Hi, Im living in Lakeside, Pakenham and have a 10 year old boy who is nearly 11. He is begining to be a little lonely on weekends! I have met loads of people here who are turning out to be great friends but everyone seems to have younger children - less than 5 years!! Which is find for my youngest daughter. He is having enough with youngers boys/girls so if there is anyone out there who has a boy around the same age would love to meet up. He is making friends at school but I am stuggling to get hold of the parents as all the kids walk themselves to school and back home again! Have tried sending messages home but they dont seem to answer the messages! Thanks

I was over in Oz a few years ago on a trip and managed to pick up two fines for speeding, I was in a hire car. Eventually the police sent me the fines over in the UK but I never paid them.... oops. Now the tables have turned slightly and I'm getting sponsored and going to live in Brisbane.... I realise no one will know for sure but do you think this will this cause me any issues. I hope not. lesson learned... :policeman:

He is the youngest Australian to be arrested in Indonesia under the country’s harsh anti-drugs laws. Police sources have told News Ltd the teen was arrested allegedly in possession of a small amount of marijuana. He is understood to have been on holiday in Bali and is now being held in the jail cells at Denpasar’s police headquarters. DFAT confirmed the arrest and said consular officials had been in contact with the boy and his family. ''An Australian teenager from NSW was detained in Bali, Indonesia on Tuesday 4 October 2011 after he was found with a small quantity of drugs,'' the spokesperson said. Australian Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd has told the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade to the make the matter a top priority. ''(Mr) Rudd has directed that the Australian Ambassador in Jakarta and the Consul General in Bali make this their top priority and undertake all efforts to resolve the matter quickly and seek the early release of the boy,'' a spokesperson said. It is understood that the schoolboy was allegedly in possession of 6.9 grams gross of marijuana or 3.6 grams net. It is not yet confirmed what charges he will face, but it is likely to be drug possession charges which, under Indonesia’s harsh narcotics laws, carries a 12-year maximum. While scores of Australians have been arrested in Bali in possession of drugs in small and large amounts, the NSW schoolboy is the youngest to have ever faced Indonesian justice. Under Indonesian law, unlike Australia, there are no children’s court systems. Juveniles are dealt with in the mainstream court system, which has dealt with all Australians currently behind bars here and are often housed in adult jails. There are very few children’s jails and there is no children’s jail in Bali. Young offenders are normally kept in a special children’s cell inside Kerobokan Jail but mix freely with the mainstream prison population. Most Australians arrested in Bali recently and in possession of small amounts of drugs have initially been charged with the 12-year drug possession laws but later had the charges dropped when they gave evidence of being addicted to drugs. The laws for drug addicts using drugs for their own personal use are much less severe and carry only a four-year maximum term. Most people end up being sentenced to months in jail and are then released. Victorian man Ricky Shane Rawson was recently released after serving a four-month term for possession of 0.06 grams of methamphetamine. And Angus McCaskill, who was originally sentenced to a massive seven years in jail for possession of 3.58 grams of cocaine, had his term cut on appeal and he was freed after 14 months behind bars.

A "little too young for Kindy" boy in Perth looking for friends
chris2011 posted a topic in Kids Down Under
We've been in Perth for nearly a month now and my little boy is starting to drive me (and his 1 year old sister) bonkers! I think he's very bored and needs some friends. Back in the UK he was going to nursery at our local school 3 days a week and had lots of friends but now we're in Perth I'm his best friend and he now has to wait until Feb before he can start at Kindy.... 5 months away! So if there are any mums (or dads) out there with a similarly aged child (3 and a half) bouncing off the walls who may also need a new friend let me know.... the more the merrier! (We're NOR in Woodlands and I've posted this on PerthPoms too... but PIO is my first love!) -
Hi I'm writing for my son. We are moving to Brisbane from scotland before end of year and would love to hear from anyone who may be moving or already emigrated. He is keen to make new friends, he has not set up own page yet but will do so can reply. Thanks

I dont really want a party at our house so was considering BBQ in the park and looked into hiring a fire engine, face painting etc. Some companies are bit expensive though. Anyone got any good suggestions as we new to Perth so recommendations for good kids entertainment or what kids do here for parties would be great ?! Thanks Dawn

Hi everyone, current situation is separated from wife, kids are staying with her. I am aged 50, 51 in September, work as lorry/truck driver at the moment, studying for IT systems engineer and have JP Morgan bank experience of 15 years. I have friends in Melbourne, but I am not sure what to do in relation to visas, which one to go for, costs for visa, etc. I am looking for a new start in life and feel I still have alot to offer in work terms as not retiring until 70. I am fit and healthy O(I do not stuff my face with rubbish despite driving) I think that will do for now. Hopefully someone will be able to advise what I should do. Thank you for your time in advance, Tony

Wow....Bitter sweet..... After years of trying (Jan 07) £4500 + two lots of medicals and police checks, numerous letters to prove my pensions, healthcare etc, just to prove I wouldn't be a burden on the state and Gov't system's ......January this year we were asked for a letter from Doctors confirming my dissability wasn't permanent...Doh ! Well we couldn't get it as, I have an amputated left forearm and a traumatic amputation of my right hand EX Forces (Bomb Blast 1987)....Before you ask, I have tried but they just won't grow back lol.....Not had any medical intevention since 1988, so rasonably fit with no other issues..... Not able to get past that huge brick wall we resigned ourselves to staying in the UK, I decided however to write to the Australian PM, Deputy PM and Minister for Immigration voicing my opinion on a flawed system. I only received one reply and that was from the Minister for Immigration's Office, not direct from him though....No real surprises then when all it contained were possible other visa route's, not gauranteed but everthing would need to be submitted again........No way we said......So we closed our Australian bank accounts, had them since holiday in 2002..... bought 2 cars one brand new a pony and a new stable in April for our daughter and a new conservatory ! 1000,s spent, using up most of what we saved for Australia.....Then.... A call from our agent on Friday saying that our case had been looked at again...Mysteriously by a senior case officer...........!!!!!!!!!! An appology..not in writing though about how our case was handled and a message to say we will now be given a visa grant letter..... What to do now......Our Police checks run out in Sept, been advised that they will be flexible with us though ...In their words to our agent......If your clients still want to come to Australia that is ????? ! Our problem now is my wife can't get any extra time off work from nursing in the NHS espcially not in August, and from October/November our third son Starts his Maths and Science GCSE'S and second oldest son is now leaving school almost in the Forces...............................................WHAT DILEMMA HELP.....Any suggestions please.... Very Sad 13 Year Old Boy - struggling to settle any advice ??
teejaygb posted a topic in Aussie Chat
Hi, We have been in WA for 11 weeks now and everyone except my 13 year old son loves being here. I knew it would be hard for him leaving friends etc but I had no idea it would be this bad. He is having a really hard time at school - no-one wants to be his friend he comes home and goes in his room and sobs. Last night he begged me to take him home and was hysterical to the point of vomitting. He explained some things which have happened at school and I was fighting back the tears. He has really tried to make friends to the point of being humiliated. My 9 year old son on the other hand is loving school - has made friends and we have lots of telephone numbers on the fridge for playdates. I guess primary is just so different from Secondary school. I think the problem is made worse as local children in our immediate area seem to go to the local private school (no places for my son) so I have to take him to a state school out of area, but still only 10 mins down the Marmion from where we live. Therefore he is not meeting any children who live near us for after school fun. Can any one offer any help or advice - anyone been in the same situation. I feel so helpless. He is into his 4th week at school now and I try and tell him it is not that long but he replies "it is when no-one talks to you and you spend breaks and lunches alone". I am wondering whether to try another school but in the back of my mind know it will probably be just the same for him. -
13 Year Old Boy Kallaroo - desperate to find some friends
teejaygb posted a topic in Kids Down Under
Hi, My son Ashley 13 - year 8 is desperate to make some friends - anyone in Kallaroo area (North of Perth WA) ?? Recently relocated and having a really hard time trying to fit in at school. Anyone in same situation ?? -
For a start hello this is my first post! Ok I will be beginning the process of a possible move to Oz (WA) starting Monday with an interview with ARG (Australia Railroad Group). Now they will be providing myself with a 457 visa and a 2 year contract. I understand I have to purchase Private Medicare insurance. I myself am fully fit but my partner and my youngest boy have complaints... My partner has suffered with bad Asthma throughout her life and is permanently on inhalers to keep this at bay but, very occationaly she needs to be placed on a nebuliser as it can become very bad. My youngest boy (22months) had Talipes (club feet), and has had operations to help correct this and is currently in corrective boots. This means he may need medical assistance until he is possibly 12 years old. Leading me to a question. What sort of cost extra would be placed on us for these conditions? Any help, any `ball park` figures would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Tony

Family member was a naughty boy in Oz, will affect my application
gaz n family posted a topic in Visa Chat
While gathering all the information to complete the many application forms, one family member let it slip that in 2000 when he travelled to Oz in a temp working visa of the Olympics he. Stayed longer than he should, worked longer than he should have, and, took out a contract on a mobile phone from a comms company then left without keeping up the payments. Could this have an adverse effect on our 176 application? He is listed in the application forms as he is a family member who had travelled to Oz I doubt it will, but you never know???- 2 replies
